GOP V1 has landed

| August 10, 2010

So the GOP emailed to tell me they’ve put together a website so you can find opportunities to volunteer for Republican campaigning;

Dear Jonn,

We know that a lot of Americans are tired of seeing this White House mismanage our country, but in the past it’s sometimes been difficult to find opportunities to fight back. At the Republican National Committee, we understand the importance of volunteering, so we’re doing something to make it easier than ever before.

I’m writing to let you know about a new tool that’s been launched at GOP.com. It’s called Volunteer Match, and it’s a network that collects volunteer opportunities for this election cycle. That includes opportunities to volunteer for campaigns, state parties, and RNC Victory Centers. It lets you create your own profile and search for volunteer opportunities. It also lets you specify how you feel your skills would be best utilized, and connects you directly to organizations looking for help. Using Volunteer Match, you can search for opportunities in your area and find the ones that best suit you. Whether you’re looking to get involved on a national, state, or local level, Volunteer Match is the tool to make it happen.

We built Volunteer Match so that you can make an impact. Volunteering is the surest way for you to make a difference this fall. And make no mistake: you are going to make the difference. You can start today by signing up for Volunteer Match, and then forwarding this email to two friends who you think are ready to stand up for their country.

Yours,
Gentry Collins
RNC Political Director

But, you know what’s missing? A reason to help the GOP win the next election. I pumped money into the elephant party for twelve years and got jackasses. That’s not making a difference, that’s being taken for a ride.

And, oh, what kind of volunteer opportunities are there in West Virginia? I can sign up for their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter or buy GOP gear to wear around my town. Whoo-hoo – feel the energy? It’s like C Montgomery Burns designed their outreach program.

This election cycle, I’m just disappointed I ever let anyone know I was a republican. I’m gonna vote for whoever Sarah Palin did NOT call me about!

I enjoy voting.
Now, if there was just somebody running who I could enjoy voting for…

Jacobite

What am I looking for in a candidate? A leader that will attempt to implement the TEN TRANSFORMATIONAL INITIATIVES outlined by the Heritage Foundation.

First Principles

American Leadership

Education

Energy & Environment

Enterprise & Free Markets

Entitlements

Family & Religion

Health Care

Protect America

Rule of Law

Those that come closest get my support.

The only positive is they are finally getting around to making use of the internet. I stopped giving to the “party” and will donate to the candidate IF I like them.

Last fall for the first time in my life I worked on a campaign, even did a yard sign, and bumper sticker which is something I just don’t do. Working the phone banks I was blown away by the number of Americans that had NO CLUE about ANYTHING,or had never voted in their life. It was rewarding when upon occasion I was able to reach through to someone convincing them to out and vote for the first time. Most were men wanting to protect the 2nd amendment. Whenever a dem was reached on the phone they were just nasty, when a reb answered they were always polite. I learned a great deal working for someone I believed in, makes all the difference.

No john, if burns designed it, it would involve releasing hounds on Reid/Pelosi. Much better than this.

I don’t vote for Republicans. I vote for CONSERVATIVES. Dear RNC, please remember that next time you come calling, hat in hand.

Jonn; you are on some interesting mailing lists.

It might entertain you some to get those emails, but I, and about 12% of voters, registered as independents.

Totally off topic, our SOS is an ex-news person!

John-
I felt like you two years ago with John McCain keeping me from getting excited to vote. But then I realized that the only way to get better candidates out of the GOP (or any party) is to get more involved, not less.
Inauguration Day 2009 I joined the Republican Party. 4 months later I was a county co-chair. A year after that I became the endorsed Republican candidate for the state legislature.
The GOP, like the country as a whole, is looking for solid leadership. Who better than us military folks to fill that need?
Don’t just volunteer to help in your area–lead them to where the country needs to be.

I also vote for Conservatives. However, I WILL definitely consider anyone that Sarah Palin endorses. I will be proud to cast a vote for her for President in 2012.

Hey! Lilyea! Since when did you start whining? Get involved localy, become a county chairperson and quitcher bellyaching!

Since the republican party can’t control their own spending, I suggest that people donate directly to the candidate they want to get elected. That way the candidate gets all of the money instead of what the RNC filters to them.

Will the campaigning be the usual “Vote for me because I’m not as bad as the other guy.” I would rather vote “for” someone instead of voting “against” someone.

B Woodman

I will vote for the first candidate that sez that he / she will act to REPEAL laws instead of working to pass more.

Until then, the GOP can take a flying leap. And I’ve written a four page letter to tell them so every time they (the RNCC, etc) send me one of those stupid insulting “surveys” and begging letters.

Claymore

Here in Georgia, for the GOP gubernatorial race, we had the sublime choice of an ethically challenged crook (endorsed by Mike Huckabee) and a proven liar (endorsed by Sarah Palin)…either of which are going to get their clocks cleaned in November the Democrat who has a black belt in both of those political disciplines.

A few months ago I got one of them really buddy buddy form letters from the GoP asking for money. I returned the letter sans check but with the comment that they still don’t get it. I am not voting Republican, I am voting Conservative American. When they reach that standard send me another letter. To this date, I still have not heard from them. Which is cool, my junk mail has stopped and my mailman is happy.

Sarah really surprised me when she endorsed Adam Kokesh in his recent run for office. Makes me wonder about her some.

I’m watching Michelle Bachman. She just started a Pac but is still saying she won’t run for higher office. Hmmmm Bachman, Palin (in that order) we’ll see!!!
