80-year-old vet defends home
Again, more than few people who were worried that I wasn’t writing enough posts sent me this link to the story of an 80-year-old veteran who caught some derelict breaking into his home a laid the scumbag low. I’m sure the old guy isn’t as proud of the event as he is worried about the outcome;
No charges have been filed against the homeowner, but Chicago currently has a statute outlawing the possession of handguns. Its legality is currently being decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
A high-profile Chicago attorney has already stepped forward offering to represent the man pro bono if he faces charges for possessing a weapon.
“Self-defense isn’t just a right, it’s a duty,” said attorney Joel Brodsky. “If this man is prosecuted for saving his own life it’s not just a travesty, it’s justice turned inside out.”
So how long did take the veteran to decide which was more important – his family or his freedom? I’m sure the lawbreaker got a few more seconds of life while the homeowner weighed the decision.

Kind of reminds me of a case where a burglar broke into someone’s house, ended up falling and breaking some bones, and then sued the homeowner for his injuries.
Outstanding on the part of the homeowners! I agree that there is one less criminal on the street. Home invasion should carry a healthy risk of dying on the part of the criminal. It’s a shame that Chicago has a statute preventing ownership of a weapon by law abiding citizens. It sends a message that crime is welcome there. This Vet just canceled that welcome. Well done SIR!

Way to go… if there were more like this vet then they wouldn’t have calls to activate the Illinois National Guard to patrol the streets of Chicago.
But you can rest easy this week-end… Mr. Obama is coming to town with is “circus parade” of security for himself and possibly for his family.
If the Guard went to Chicago they should declare martial law. The commander of the tropps would become the mayor and cheif of police. He could declare that anybody carrrying a gun would be shor on sight. The honest citizens can’t have guns so only the POS crooks would be shot. Send enough Tango Uniform and the Guard could week in week.

I happen to know the neighborhood and the cook county criminal system intimately. The bad/dead guy was supposed to be in prison, but was on parole! He had a history of this stuff going back over 15 years and almost 40 arrests! And the homeowner had been robbed in his home at gunpoint before! I dare Mayor Daley to put a hand on this man. The public will not stand for it!
The public won’t stand for it. Left/liberal Deomcrats don’t give a f*ck what the public won’t stand for… they’ll probably arrest him when the publicity dies down or shaft him for something else– how dare he defend himself without begging them in THEIR town!
