CNN charges US troops used chemicals in Fallujah

| May 16, 2010

Undaunted by the fact that they had been burned in their last attempt to charge the US with using chemical weapons in a war, namely the “Operation Tailwind” story, CNN is charging that US troops used chemical weapons in their Fallujah operations in 2004;

Of course, there is no proof, just Fallujah residents complaining of the number of birth defects. Huffington Post claims the lack of evidence is proof that it happened;

Lawyers representing the families have sued the British government for complicity in the alleged war crimes. But Iraq’s deputy minister of health tells CNN there isn’t enough evidence to prove causality, and in any case, the U.S. boycott of the International Criminal Court makes direct prosecution of the case unlikely, as do the nation’s federal immunity laws.

Of course, no disgruntled soldiers or Marines have come forward to mention their involvement – the chemical weapons aren’t fired by generals or DoD civilians. KBR doesn’t have a chemical weapon capability last time I checked. Of course, any rational thoughts might disturb the gentle balance of the whole story.

CNN is just the Atlanta bureau of Al-Jazeera. And as Dead Ted would say, it’s not the evidence but the seriousness of the charges here, dammit…

Even assuming that chemical weapons are causing a spike in birth defects, it strikes me as more likely that insurgent forces screwed up in transporting pilfered chemical weapons from Saddam’s regime, were hit during the same, etc., such that some of the chemicals contaminated groundwater supplies and/or local food supplies. Heck, a bomb could have cracked a hidden, underground bunker and leaked stuff without anyone knowing. If we’re jumping to the conclusion that birth defects are being caused by chemical weapons, there are dozens of explanations that fit as well or better than our best and bravest using them on civilians without anyone apparently noticing until now.

If they want evidence of chemical weapons, all that CNN has to do is visit any DFAC on burrito night…….

And, “CNN’s Mohammed Jamjoom investigates”? And CNN wonders why they’re irrelevant? Shit like this is why they’re irrelevant. I wonder what Mohammed’s final report will be, we couldn’t find any proof, so that’s proof that it happened? And, Matthis was there, he told us so?

Hmm funny thing when i was in Fallujah i remember the Muj using chemical weapons on us. They Car-bombed the CMOC and a friendly sheiks residence with Chlorine gas granted it was homemade and pretty ineffective but It got very little media attention back home now they’re blaming us for using chemical weapons and CNN is giving the time of day with no evidence, makes one wonder.

As I recall….there are NO WMD in Iraq. So how can this be possible???? So what they’re saying is there is WMD? Then Bush was right! Irony is ironic.

This smells like BS. I was at a certain air base (not Desert Storm) from Jan 1990 to July 92. We had a nuke commitment and our sister squadron had a chem commitment. The chems were removed from the base and sent back to the states for disposal. President G.H.W. Bush declared that an attack on us by use of chemicals would be the same as a nuclear attack and we would respond in kind. I know a former C.E. officer who spent much time on a Pacific island disposing of these weapons. They are not so easy to safely get rid of, even the binary weapons. As far as I know, we don’t even have chemicals in our arsenal any more and haven’t for a very long time now. If we did, enough people would know about it that it wouldn’t be a secret for long.

I don’t think that the US HAS any Chemical weapons left in it’s inventory. If we do, their prolly at Tooele Army Depot awaiting disposal.

Most of the time, if a monnbat is talking about US Chemical weapons, they are mistakenly referring to WP rounds. That was the big stink some years back.
