Of Gitmo alum and VoteVets

| March 5, 2010

Apparently the Taliban has chosen the man to take the place of captured Taliban #2 leader Baradar and he’s a graduate of the Guantanamo School for Wayward Boys;

A man freed from Guantanamo more than two years ago after he claimed he only wanted to go home and help his family is now a senior commander running Taliban resistance to the U.S.-led offensive in southern Afghanistan, two senior Afghan intelligence officials say.

Abdul Qayyum is also seen as a leading candidate to be the next No. 2 in the Afghan Taliban hierarchy, said the officials, interviewed last week by The Associated Press.

Now, to me, it proves that we should stop releasing these peckerheads until the Taliban’s tendency to kill innocent people as well as our troops ends. But to dicksmith at VoteVets, the contrary makes more sense;

The torture enthusiasts and Liz Cheneys of the world will tell you that this proves that we MUST keep GITMO open. But really does that make sense? A Bush Administration system that is so flawed that it has returned high level Taliban commanders to the battlefield should be maintained?

Here’s another option: civilian courts have successfully prosecuted and convicted over 300 terrorists, none of which have ever returned to the battlefield.

The Obama Administration is currently navel-gazing about their decision to send Khalid Sheik Mohammad to trial in New York, yet the reprobates at VoteVets haven’t yet arrived at the common sense Bush policy of warehousing these bloodthirsty freaks. I have yet to hear what we do with them after their term in prison ends. Turn them loose on our streets and keep our collective fingers crossed that they learned their lessons? I wonder if dicksmith has thought through completely.

I used this very story in another thread to show one of our wayward trolls (Joe, in this case) that his assertion that those in Gitmo are just innocents kidnapped off the streets of Kabul and Baghdad by bloodthirsty soldiers. Quite the contrary, the restraint shown by the Bush (and now Obama) administrations regarding prisoner treatment has been far and above MORE humane than anything we’ve provided in conflicts past, and light-years ahead of any treatment our POW’s received at the hands of the enemy in any conflict in our history. Yet the left can’t seem to bring themselves to face the very unpleasant fact that bad guys who want to kill them exist, despite all the chouruses of Kum-Bah-Ya they sing.

Let’s have less enemy combatants captured, and more KIA’s. Can’t return to the battlefield if their pushing up poppies.

TSO

The period is in the wrong place on that last sentence.

I wonder if dicksmith has thought.

TSO

Dicksmith is also touting some report from General Zinni that we need to move on Climate Change “now”….

Report is from 2007. Wonder whether they used the discreditted data from CRU to make that determination.

More importantly, why is he just so damn smart on this one, and yet he supported the Iraq surge. Is he only right some of the time? I’m confused by the VV logic at times.

OldTrooper

Hey Joe; is this one “innocent” too? Is this another one that was whisked away in the middle of the night?

TSO; as for the logic of VV being confusing some of the time? If they brand what they say as “logic”, then it’s confusing to me all the time. That’s because they stand for nothing, they are only a mouthpeice for Moveon that happens to have some Vets in it for credibility.

Yeah, he is just helping is islamist family kill heritics.

Nothing to see here, and it is Bush’s fault.

OT, You will have a wait a little while for Joe’s response. Friday is pizza day and he skips surfing the net in the library.

I have a plan on how we can close Gitmo forever and not have to waste money and resources to house, feed, and guard them. Ready? Here it is: Smoke ’em on the battlefield, take no prisoners, leave no one breathing when you step off the battlefield. That way we don’t have to worry about any of this ever again. Once these guys see their buddy’s head turn to pink mist from a .338 Lapua mag round a few dozen times, they will get the hint that surrender isn’t an option, anymore.

IronKnight

Been to GTMO.
Anyone who thinks were making a bunch of goat farms duck-walk around a communist island does not understand the situation.

There are people that went to school in England that are sitting in GTMO, these people are the executives of the terror world. not the trigger pullers.
but, at least we know what this guy is up to and we can use him as yet another example.

UpNorth

Exactly, Iron Knight, among the class of 20?? at Gitmo are at least two of AQ’s bankers. But some, like Joey, would argue that they’re simple goat-herds. So, yeah, they’re amongst the “executives of the terror world”, and they belong there.
Like others, I’m awaiting Joey’s pontification on how this guy trying to kill soldiers and Marines is, somehow, our fault.
