More Stewart Rhodes, Adam Kokesh, Oathkeeper and IVAW

| March 1, 2010

Bev Perlson of Band of Mothers has been writing to me this weekend about the Oathkeepers and what she saw at CPAC two weeks ago. Apparently, they had Michael Maresco manning the Oathkeepers booth at CPAC for a while. Michael Moresco was the 2009 Oathkeepers Citizen Activist of the Year for his cross country bike ride from Liberty Island to Alcatraz, ostensibly to symbolize our journey from Freedom to Fascism. Along his route, Maresco handed out Ron Paul propaganda. I guess that’s why no one ever heard of him.

Anyway, Maresco told Bev that he recruited Adam Kokesh to run for that seat in New Mexico. When Bev confronted Stewart Rhodes about Maresco’s claim, Rhodes denied that he even knew Maresco – that’s pretty strange since it seems to me that the Citizen Activist of the Year of Oathkeepers, who happened to be working at Oathkeepers’ table at CPAC would be someone the leader of Oathkeepers would know.

Bev went on to tell me that Larry Baily, a relatively famous phony SEAL buster, told Rhodes that he should drop his support for Kokesh’s congressional campaign and announce that on the Oathkeepers’ website. Of course, Rhodes did no such thing.

Bev went a step farther and called the New Mexico Republicans;

I called the Republican party in New Mexico and spoke with a girl by the name of Tiffany. I told her I was calling about Kokesh and that I understand they can’t stop him from running in the Primary as a Republican, but they sure should issue a statement that they do not support a candidate that actively works to impede the efforts of our recruters and our troops. Tiffany told me they are gettting so many calls like mine, they are aware of the problem, and are looking into their legal options to separate themselves from Kokesh.

Jonn, I hope you will post the phone number on your website to the GOP in New Mexico and ask folks to call. We need to keep the pressure up on the Republicans over this.

Here’s the contact information for the Republicans in New Mexico;

Several readers have emailed me and asked me if they should continue their membership in Oathkeepers. I’ll tell everyone that it’s your choice what you do with your money, but me personally, any organization that ignores Adam Kokesh’s transgressions so that they can have a pretty candidate that mouths the words they want to hear is not one to which I would belong. Kokesh has proved himself to be a poor NCO and a poor citizen. He’s shown that he disregards laws he doesn’t like, and he has no problem lying. He’s covered up his misbehavior on his blog to facilitate his campaign. The DD214 he posted on his campaign website misleads voters.

And that’s what Oathkeepers supports – just because Kokesh is a Paulian.

Me? I’m going to start checking out ever member of Oathkeepers from Stuart Rhodes through the Board of Directors down to the newest member. Everyone that claims they have military service is going to have me crawling up their ass for proof. So you Oathkeepers better get your narratives straight.

And, oh, Michael Maresco, let’s see how you have membership in Oathkeepers since I can’t find a military record, nor a First Responer’s record. Are you OK’s activist of the year just because you’re a propagandist for Ron Paul?

Added: It appears that we’re having an impact on Oathkeeper’s support. Ol’ Broad at An Old Broad’s Ramblings has just dissolved her relationship with them because of the post I wrote last week..

I am going to play upmire for a bit and call it as I see it. The Oathkeepers are conspiracy theorists, plain and simple. The core tenet of the Oathkeepers has nothing to with honoring their oath. Its all about preparing for resistance when (not if, when) the government unlawfully implements martial law and the US become a fascist state. Given that so many Oathkeepers have already bought in on some of the worst conspiracy theories (9/11 troofers, FEMA camps, etc), I would bet that many of them feel that this has already happened and the time for open resistance is now.

IronKnight

I will be brave and go first.

I think I signed some “oath” they had out; I think it was their first web-presence.
I certainly didn’t send any money. Why would I pay to swear not to violate the constitution?

But, If you want to check me, feel free to .

On a side note. alot of what I did is not on my DD-214. I do have orders (which means order numbers) for everything; deployments, promotions, and awards. besides, if I don’t have documents it didn’t happen right? Well, thats what my DS said.
So, is it important to get that updated? Never was that important to me.
How do I do it?

Cheers

Michael Maresco

First of all, Bev has said many ridiculous things. On a recent radio interview, she ranted about Kokesh “lying” about being a latecomer to IVAW, and insisted he was a founder. Of course, one just has to look at the dates of when IVAW was founded, and when Adam was earning medals for service in Iraq http://bit.ly/cEj7DE to see that Bev is out of touch with reality. How anyone can consider her a credible source of information is beyond me. Other things she said on that interview were malicious slander and lawyers are aware… Quite frankly, I would rather not go there and simply feel sorry for Bev. Seems to me she has gone off the deep end. Another inaccuracy in her letter is that Marine Colonel and I did not see eye to eye. The fact is we got along just fine and he stated, before we parted, that he would gladly stand shoulder to shoulder with me, “behind the wall”. I never asked him to “trust me about Kokesh”, but did not back down at all in my support of Adam. Bottom line is that Bev seems to hear what she wants to hear, and not what is said. I’d like to see proof of Adam blocking access to recruiting stations, or being at any violent protests. All I have heard is second hand reports from someone with no documented credibility. I suspect these are more lies. I do know that the VFW stood up for Kokesh regarding his _permitted_ “protest” in fatigues: http://articles.latimes.com/2007/jun/02/nation/na-protest2 Secondly, the reason I got on the bike was in response to the DHS report that labeled returning troops as “potential domestic terrorists”. I plastered the bike with symbols mentioned in the DHS/MIAC reports and visited Sheriffs to counter the DHS lies. I brought information from most of the organizations directly mentioned in the reports, including OathKeepers, Ron Paul, and others. The fact remains that I am one of the more hawkish figures in the r3VOLution and you will find few stronger supporters of the troops. (That is why I am so adamant on… Read more »

Is that “Freedom Rock”, man? Well, tell him to shut the hell up! Seriously, how many meds do you have to take before they let you post over at the “home”, bro? Kokesh is an embarassment to my former home, and the truth is rapidly being told about him. He won’t be elected dogcatcher in Bloomfield, let alone be the GOP nominee.

Bulldog 22TC

I know of at least one OK leader that needs to be checked out. He is the reason I quit OK. The second in command of one of the state groups is a fraud. He was “vetting myself and another combat veteran and gave us a BS story about getting blown up in Lebonon. With very little research that was totally proved to be a lie. My personal opinion, OK can kiss my grits, as Flo used to say.

Uh, freedomrock, I don’t think pragnatic is actually a word. If you meant pragmatic then your sentence is giberish. Come to think of it your entire post at #9 is giberish. Seriously wtf over?

Kate

So, now I’m getting grief from some Michigan OK named Rex? Hey…can I be a lib and blame y’all? LOL

Congratulations on driving the centerists and the paleos back out of the GOP tent.

A fractured party is what put Obama in the White House – looks like you’re intent on helping get him a second term by driving the young voters straight out of the party.

God forbid we actually vote for a fiscal conservative when we can settle for the establishment.

Tasha

You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

What a sewing circle you guys are.

All because someone who knows someone, who knows someone, who has a friend with stuff stored in the OK booth at CPAC who supported Kokesh.

At no time did the conversation you mentioned take place between my husband and Larry Baily, who are friends. I was there when the issue came up on the phone. I think Bev needs to go have herself another glass of wine and if you know her you know what I mean.

My husband has put himself at great personal risk to start Oath Keepers just because he thought it was the right thing to do.

And really all he gets is grief from both sides.

Thanks so much for the support

Oath Keepers has never supported any candidates.

NHSparky

Tasha–would you not agree that their funding sources and political leanings are what one might consider, to quote Bob Uecker, “JUST a bit outside!”

Tasha

Who’s funding sources, Oath Keepers? People join OK from all across the spectrum. OK is non-partisan, it tends toward the right in membership mostly because the military and police tend to be right. OK does not endorse candidates or any political leaning.

And frankly, I mostly stay out the whole OK thing until I really just can’t stand it anymore. This situation is way way out of hand.

The little things that have change in Bev’s story turn into big things when they get told again and again. At one point in the rant she passed all over the web she says, Stewart denied knowing who Michael Maresco.

Not true at all.

Stewart left the booth to do interviews for NRATV and PJTV. On his way back she approached him and said who is that funny looking guy with a mustache in your booth? Stewart said I have no idea. Later he realized she must have been talking about Micheal. See how the little changes make a big difference? Her whole story is like that.

It would be one thing if you guys looked through the testimonials and said hey I don’t like the way this is going or I don’t trust a guy who used to work for Ron Paul or I refuse to join a group who I otherwise agree with but who’s founder’s wife is a smart ass. But don’t freak out and start a squealing, giggling, gossip session over this because it was all started by a person with serious personal demons (not to say she doesn’t have reason).

I’ve probably said too much but I’m not as calm as Stew is about this stuff- this is why I stay out of it.

NHSparky

Well, I can think of a whole lot more reasons that just the ones you listed not to join OK, but the Paulian support and finances are a good start, not to mention a lot of them are just plain fucking whack jobs. How’s it feel giving credibility to Janet the Nappy and her assertion of “right-wing veteran domestic terrorists”?

Tasha

How is whacko to say let’s just stand down if ever ordered to do these things? I really don’t get what all of the hubbub is about.

“How’s it feel giving credibility to Janet the Nappy and her assertion of “right-wing veteran domestic terrorists”?”

This was really a very rude and caustic statement/question.

I really didn’t come here to discuss politics. Frankly, I hate politics, I’d rather argue about gardening techniques. I just see my husband bring defamed by nonsense, gossip and and outright lies and came to address only that.

Also, “just plain fucking whack jobs” are everywhere, on all sides.

Alright, I think I’m done here. After seeing the types of rude things you often say to people without really engaging in a discussion, I realize trying to make sure the record was set straight may have been a mistake.

Billy

It’s time to wake up, folks. Know this: There are a ton of ‘conspiracy theories’ out there, and the simple fact of the matter is that a number of these are not ‘theories’ at all. They are all too real. Don’t believe me? Then start doing your own research. Our beloved President Obama is a puppet, no more (and I voted for this totalitarian socialist traitor before I found out what was really going on, so I should think that I have the right to voice my opinion). The best way to analyze the beliefs of a politician are to find out what type of legislation he is signing off on. Thus far in 2012, Obama has penned the following:

-2012 NDAA (signed on New Year’s Eve when the country was drunk) – Suspends the writ of habeas corpus and allows for indefinite detention of American citizens on American soil; in FEMA camps, no less (and YES, they are all too real. I have personally seen and researched the camp in my area, as well as seen a gigantic human holding pen, a rendition center, just to the east of the main runways on the airstrip at my local international airport).

-H.R. 347 – Outlaws peaceful protest across the country in instances where public figures with security are present as well as outlaws protest in and around ‘restricted buildings and grounds’ (whatever that means).

-Law of the Sea Treaty – Renders powers of the Supreme Court null and void in certain instances pertaining to maritime issues (and possibly beyond).

-National Defense Resource Preparedness Act – Puts the entire country and all of its services (transportation, food and supplies, shelter, etc), under the complete control of the federal government in a time of ‘national emergency’. In other words, NATIONAL MARTIAL LAW. No joke.

Go research this yourself. If you say, “I don’t have time for this crap,” then don’t look to me for help when the house of cards comes down. The Oath Keepers are not nutty ‘conspiracy theorists’ seeking some sort of nefarious agenda.

NHSparky

Billy: TL/DR. But you knew that.

But I did read your last line. And yes, the OK’s are exactly what you claim they’re not. Nuts and conspiracy theorists.

Adam_S

I’d love to see some pictures of these FEMA camps and human holding pens.

UpNorth

Adam_S, ask and you’ll receive. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/4/4e/CurvedRaceCattleCorral.jpg/220px-CurvedRaceCattleCorral.jpg
Sorry, I couldn’t find the overhead view.

UpNorth

Ooops.. Not a photo, but a drawing, Adam. http://www.agriculture.gov.sk.ca/adx/aspx/adxGetMedia.aspx?DocID=2670,2667,346,185,81,1,Documents&MediaID=1943&Filename=aeh0695a.jpg&l=English
Now, rumor has it that they’re disguised as cattle holding pens, but we know the truth. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
