Morale Suppression Team, Away!
Whut?
Navy pilot spotted with patch depicting Houthis as ‘Star Wars’ sand people
The since-pulled photo signifies Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 74’s time in the Red Sea with “Houthi Hunting Club Red Sea 2023-2024.”

A recent publicly released Navy photo showed a member of a helicopter squadron sporting a patch that says “Houthi Hunting Club Red Sea 2023-2024,” with an image of the Tusken Raiders from “Star Wars.” The image has since been removed from the military’s imagery and video database where it was first published. Tusken Raiders are better known — in and out of universe — as “sand people.” The patch shows two Tusken Raiders, one wielding a “gaffi stick,” inside a crosshair.
The photo of the patch was included in a Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, or DVIDS, news release about members of Helicopter Maritime Squadron (HSM)-74 visiting Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida on Monday, Oct. 28. The images were posted online that day. As of Friday, Nov. 1 that post has been taken down by DVIDS. The service has not publicly stated why the images were posted only to be deleted.
Can’t impinge on the tender sensibilities of Iran-backed terrorists who currently are making a mockery of our vaunted “Freedom of Navigation” in the Red Sea and shooting at our warships. Israel takes out their refineries, we take patches off of Aircrew flightsuits.

Now why would a buncha helicopter Warriors need a patch to boost their morale? I mean, after all…they have excellent pay, nice bennies, decent housing, plenty of off duty time at home with their families, a chance for advancement, a top notch gridiron sports team, and numerous Naval Aviation Documentaries to brag about. Buncha crybabies!
Stoopid stuff of The Week a new thread topic?
WTAF!
Their new motto should be “We trigger more snowflakes before 09:00 than most units trigger all day.”
probably even the Housthis don’t care…it’s always someone triggered “on their behalf”.
Until their pagers go off.
Maybe it was the Tusken Raiders who complained? I mean what self respecting sand person would want to be associated with those Houthi assholes?
I’m thinking the same thing. I’m insulted for sand people everywhere.
Oh, for fuck’s sake….
Sometimes I think we need to remind the marshmallow soft sons a bitches in the public sector that we pay these pilots to KILL PEOPLE..that’s their fucking job all day every day KILL PEOPLE that our government has determined need to be KILLED…
A patch depicting them as fictional characters from a fictional movie is probably the least offensive aspect of any of this….should we have a patch that shows them saving baby ducks from oil spills to commemorate our nation’s KILLING them?
Killing folks is acceptable, doing it in an ethnically offensive manner is not.
Buncha pussies.
These folks would have shit themselves had they seen what was on the WW2 imagery in a great many locales during the conflict.
What my father referred to as a “Shit Hemorrhage”.
When I was a member of the Freeport Police shooting range, One of the members had a shitload of WW2 pics that his father late father had of a jeep with two deceased German soldiers tied up on each side of a jeep plus pics that his dad had gotten in a house of German soldiers executing civilians into ditches plus others that I don’t remember…
My father had the 103rd ID “After Action Report” with lots of photos.
I grew up knowing that lots of people died in war.
I also grew up knowing what a Concentration Camp did to people – I saw the evidence.
The pearl-clutchers would get their panties in a twist at the thought today.
You Took the words out of my mouth. Was going to mention WW2 untill I scrolled down and saw your comment.
a Friend of my who was with the 25th infantry has a scrapbook album with so many pictures of dead nva troops he can’t fit them all in one book. Nasty pictures too. Lots of inappropriate pictures. He donated it to a museum. I doubt they could show any pictures to the public.
I hope they do make it available.
I SO MISS the Good Old days when this world wasn’t so overrun with perpetually “offended” WUSSES bawling for everyone to cater to them! But even in those
Next thing you know they will make them remove the art on the front of the fuselage depicting scantily clad women, because the Houthis religion does not allow women to be provocative…. ohh wait that already happened!!!
So the enemy isn’t supposed to be held in contempt and derision?
Got it.
Nope.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Task and Purpose it the National Inquirer of the military world!
“Weekly War News”
This is nothing new. Back in the 70s every unit, squad, etc had a patch. I had a Vietcong Hunting Club patch on my hat, instead of our unit logo. No one cared. It builds camaraderie and cohesion, it’s a good thing to be distinct from other units. Times have changed for sure.
I’m sure that the Ho didn’t want to offend the muzzies that are already pissed at her for not completely throwing Israel under the bus, so the patches were ordered removed.
Yeah, this decision is just as stupid as removing nose art… All these panty-wastes need to be shitcanned, and go back to WWII rules on such things. If you’re offended, feel free not to serve.. ooh, and to fuck right off..
