Kamala Harris’s price control plan worries certain Democrats

| August 17, 2024

Diocletian attempted price controls to address one of the economic challenges during Roman history. This effort eventually had to be abandoned. (timetoast.com)

Kamala Harris already provided hints on her plans to fix the economy. One plan appears to have some Democrats worried. They would rather have Harris continue to go without having unscripted interviews or without presenting her plan in more detail during her rallies. Knowledge gained from what the Harris Campaign has already published points to limits on rising prices as well as imitations of Donald Trump’s platform.

From Breitbart:

Harris, who has not held an unscripted press conference for 26 days since joining the race, is facing calls to not only remain hidden from the press but to keep her proposed policies a secret as she prepares to deliver economic proposals in North Carolina on Friday.

Harris, however, already published several policies, such as socialist-style price controls, subsidies for homeowners, and two policies that copy the Trump-Vance ticket: a child tax credit and no tax on tips.

“She doesn’t need to negotiate against herself. We’ve got the biggest possible tent right now,” Rep. Ann McLane Kuster (D-NH), told Politico. “I don’t think there’s a real strong reason for her to try to weed out any points of view right now.”

Harris’s honeymoon phase of the campaign energized some Democrats, while others raised concerns against doing anything that could end the phase.

“They [voters] have very little knowledge about who she is, what her job has actually been,” one battleground-district House Democrat said. “They know Trump. They know what his policies are. They don’t know Kamala. And so Kamala has a ton of room right now to define herself.”

Seventy percent of registered Democrats and independents who voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 are mostly in the dark about many of Harris’s controversial and radical positions, a recent poll showed.

I thought at first that the pic was in San Francisco. My mistake. Gone are the days where you could wear flowers in your hair if your going to San Francisco.

SFC D

I’m sure it worries a lot of Democrats. But they’ll all line up in perfect lockstep and follow her right off the Cliffs of Socialism.

Geez, its almost like her father was a Marxist Economist…

Even CNN did the eye roll the $25K subsidy for houses as being useless because the selling price to any house would be raised the $25 grand that the buyer got from our taxes. Price controls is what Communists/Socialists/Totalitarian States employee to control the populace. Anybody cheering for this shit would cheer there own way up the gallows. Has one ever said “Great! The government is involved and now the problems will get solved?”

Skivvy Stacker

I believe it was President Reagan who said it best;
“The nine most feared words in the English language are; ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help’ “.

Watching those low info/low wattage voters listening to Frau’s speaches that newsMax will show on their news is like watching the sheep peeps in black and white film listening to Herr Joseph Goebbels telling his peeps all his B.S.

Good communist party members never question the party line.

Odie

Putting the party before the people. Don’t release your agenda before the election.

Bring on the DNC. Can’t wait to attempt to watch that shit show.

Bring on the debates. No teleprompter, no ear pieces, no breaks for bathrooms. Wear some depends if your that worried about it.

Yeah, she’s proposing DICTATORSHIP by fiat via unaccountable Bureaucrats, that alone ought to show her true colors to those not brainwashed by the n@zi media.

AW1Ed

Seems oddly familiar.

The Nixon administration is calling – they want their economic plan of 1971 back.

Those of us of a certain age will know of what I speak, and the results thereof.

KoB

Yeah, while she is stealing failed ideas from the past maybe she should call for some kinda catchy phrase that will help us “win” the inflation battle (IYKYK).

Dominion will make sure we “vote” our way into socialism. The Patriots that have done what is needed to…Prepare…are going to have to shoot our way out of it.

5JC

Yeah, Nixon tried it. Price controls never work because once an item is no longer profitable it disappears from the market place. Nixon tried it with food and it simply created a secondary market for food.

Odie

Wasn’t it Oregon? Washington? that has banned/talked about banning private gardens?

SFC D

It was as successful as the “ Whip Inflation Now” plan that followed. At least it had a cute button.

Eggs

I like my Wendy’s “Where’s the Beef?” button much better.

SFC D

It was far more effective!

Odie

Let’s see if this works.

Success (this time).

“ Harris, who has not held an unscripted press conference for 26 days since joining the race, is facing calls to not only remain hidden from the press but to keep her proposed policies a secret as she prepares to deliver economic proposals in North Carolina on Friday.”

It’s like if “we need to pass the bill for you to find out what’s in it” was a person… 🙄

Price controls are a tool designed to bring communists into power. Once price controls fail, resulting in scarcity, they will claim the only solution is to double down on them, applying price controls across the entire economy.

Karl Marx wanted a global communist revolution because he realized people would just vote with their feet and get out of dodge moving to a freer country taking as much of their wealth as possible.

Lenin found a solution. Confiscate wealth and keep people forcibly inside by forbidding emigration. Price controls are the first stage in the government taking direct control of the economy. Fight it like your life depends on it, because it does.

Joe, if you keep writing stuff like that, you’re gonna have to change your name.

Not just that, remember Moochelle 0bama howling about “food deserts” in inner cities? makes me wonder if the D-rats aren’t planning on having Government-run commissaries in inner cities, and once they’ve ruined the Grocery Business via regulation and price controls, *POOF!*, it gets inflicted on everyone, resulting in the Government controlling yet another part of our lives.

Sparks

Good point. If the usual suspects would support their communities instead of stealing everything they can find, stores wouldn’t be closing down in inner cities. That’s called corporations voting with their feet.

SydneyBroadshead

Food deserts are due to rampant robbery and theft rather than scarcity. Every large-scale grocery chain in North America has pulled out of parts of New York City due to armed holdups and shoplifting.
The high rents or property values in NYC make such narrow margin businesses unprofitable.

Roh-Dog

Muhahahhaa! Too late, tax chattle. The commisars of the Hartford Zone of Economic Greatness appreciate your contribution to worker autonomy.

(S/ off) To say “we’re fuct” here in ‘the land of steady habits’ is a gross understatement.

In the meantime, business owners in Chitconga are getting ready for the Demonrat Convention…

They are being OVERLY gracious in this poster. She has NEVER looked like that. From the time of Willie Brown, she looked like a stank ho.

Odie

I wonder if she wipes her lipstick off with a tissue or …….?

She will try to hold on to power like she held Willie Brown’s pecker!

Most Democrats, unfortunately.

Fyrfighter

Ok, not sure what I did wrong. Maybe an admin can fix / explain?

Thanks!

Sparks

Again, fear of the usual suspects is causing businesses to shutter instead of being looted or burned or both.

SFC D

It’s looking a lot like 1968. I was only 6 at the time, but I do remember the DNC mostly peaceful protests. And swarms of baby-blue helmets.

Those “outside agitators,” like the old days, will be there too (probably with those prepositioned pallets of bricks and pre-printed signs BLM/Antifa usually have):

I wonder how many of those Cops saw that as a hippie-bashing contest? The antifa maggots are deserving of that.

I wonder from how far away BLM and antifa are busing their useful idiots in from?

Funny how that always comes from the left, just how many businesses in DC were looted and/or burned during January 6th versus the left-wing mobs?

Wilson

Sadly, it will once again come down to who counts the votes, and in what order.

Blaming price gouging corporations for inflation is like blaming a sailor flicking a lit cigarette at the Hindenburg.

rgr769

Fixing or capping prices by government decree always results in shortages of consumer goods and rationing. This ultimately makes everyone poor except for the ruling elites, who get their goods from the flourishing black markets.
