Senator Tom Cotton’s proposed bill denies birthright to children of illegal aliens

| June 7, 2024

One of the incentives that illegal aliens have to illegally cross into the US is birthright citizenship to their children born in the U.S. Senator Tom Cotton rolled out a bill that would clarify Section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. One clarification would be that a child born to an illegal alien would not be considered a U.S. citizen. Another clarification denies citizenship to those in the US for hostile purposes.

From Breitbart:

“Criminals and terrorists have no right to take advantage of our citizenship laws for their own gain. This bill will protect United States citizenship and ensure it cannot be given under false pretenses,” Cotton said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.

Cotton has unveiled the Constitutional Citizenship Clarification Act, a bill that aims to enshrine in statute the “ambassadors and invaders” exceptions to birthright citizenship.

Essentially, enacting Cotton’s legislation would bar children of illegal aliens, foreign terrorists, and foreign spies from being entitled to birthright citizenship by amending Section 301 of the Immigration and Nationality Act to:

* Clarify that a “person born in the United States shall not be considered subject to jurisdiction of the United States in the person of alien parents who are —

  • unlawfully present in the United States (illegal aliens)
  • present in the United States for diplomatic purposes
  • engaged in a hostile occupation of, or a hostile operation in, the United States

“Biden has also ordered ICE not to enforce immigration laws against pregnant “individuals,” allowing an illegal immigrant to stay in the United States until her child is born and granted birthright citizenship.

That bill will be DOA in the Senate, and if, by some miracle the dems wake up and do the right thing one time, Pedo Joe will veto it.

KoB

Yep…Virtue signaling on Cotton’s part. If the bill makes it out of committee, it’ll never be passed into law…not unless we really do have an election in November and not just a (s)election.

This proposed provision shoulda been the Law of The Land a long time ago. If it hada been, we might not have some many problems with illegal invaders now.

Yes, the Dems will be against any such bill. Flood the country with kids from immigrant parents in Democratic wet dream. If you know anything about Democrats is that they love to kill American babies, so they can replace then. Margret Sanger would be so proud of them if she were alive today. In the name of “choice”, they’re exercising her eugenics platform without even noticing.

Fyrfighter

Except that she’d be against “brown” babies… though the Moloch worshippers would probably overlook that part…

I don’t think it’s possible to emphasize too strongly how overdue this is (not that pedo joe will approve it).. as KoB stated mamny of our problems with illegals would not exist if this had been in place long ago…

Here’s the problem with our founding fathers, and the language they used in our guiding documents.. They were educated, intelligent men, and they made the misguided assumption that future politicians would be the same, and follow not only the wording, but the intent of those documents. They never foresaw elected officials that would try to destroy the nation by twisting the intent of their words into something obviously detrimental to the Republic and her citizens..

Yeah.

I met this dude a long time ago in the Army.

I do not necessarily disagree with some of his viewpoints, but he is a narcissistic assclown.

Read his book. It becomes very clear.

Bring it! Maybe a couple of desperate Dems are sufficiently worried about re-election and will buck the system…. (I can dream, can’t I?)

Odie

Manchin supposedly defected to the independent side, so democrats don’t have the secure lock on the vote they once did.

Of course, like all politicians, he is subject to the direction of the wind and polls instead of voting what’s best for his folks at home.

Prior Service (Ret)

Manchin is only 80% bad but he’s like a snake that’ll turn on you at any time.

He knows how to break with his party JUST ENOUGH to keep getting reelected, he’s a D-rat in a State that went 60-something percent for DJT!

I worked for a Captain whose son was born in another country. The Captain was in fear of being reassigned to that country as his son was getting to be a teenager and the other country still had the draft. Let the USA bring back the Civilian Conservation Corps and draft folks into that instead of the military. I believe the border would be less inviting.

SFC D

I worked with a SSG that held dual US / Turkish citizenship. He was advised to NOT visit his mother in Izmir because the Turkish Army could legally snatch him up.

I’m completely fine with this. If you’re not in the country legally, neither are your offspring. “Birth Tourism” would have to be addressed separately.

One clarification would be that a child born to an illegal alien would not be considered a U.S. citizen.”

Is this retroactive? Asking for all the DACAs out there. (or would they be CACAs?)

Sapper3307

Birth tourism is huge with the Chineas in California and Russians in Florida. Gotta stop it.

Jimbo

It’s just a feel good bill that could benefit the denmon-crats. Those in a tight race could vote for it, showing how much they care. Knowing that FJB will never pass the bill. Better to present this bill after Jan 20th

Badda-bing! 🙂

I could cotton to cotton’s great idea

Odie

This should have been Included years ago, when illegals first started to come in without signing the guest book.

Since they didn’t, make it retroactive for when our dear leaders finally pull their heads from their rectal cavity. Anybody born to illegal immigrants are just SOL, regardless of age, job or social standing. Reapply to reenter.

But thats just my opinion.

rgr769

This should have happened as part of Reagan signing that 1986 immigration law.

Odie

He may have broached the subject, but he wasn’t well liked either. Both sides were civil to each other once upon a time, but not civil enough to help Americans out if it would benefit the opposition.

Friendly Protip: The Thirteenth Amendment was to protect the offspring of newly released slaves, not border jumpers of terrorists looking to make anchor babies.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. 🤙

“…and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,” baby!
