Levin; it might have been terrorism

| November 21, 2009

The Washington Post reports that the lights might be coming on in the Capitol Building finally as Democrat Senator Carl Levin admits that the Fort hood massacre might have been terrorism;

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) said Friday that he would investigate the handling of the e-mails — 18 or 19 in all — and why military officials were not aware of them before the deadly attack. Levin told reporters after a briefing from Pentagon staff members that “there are some who are reluctant to call it terrorism, but there is significant evidence that it is.”

The emails to which Levin refers are the growing number of messages that Hasan sent to Yemeni radical cleric Anwar al-Aulaqi which we were told were few and called innocuous. The opposite is becoming apparent;

“He [Hasan] clearly became more radicalized toward the end, and was having discussions related to the transfer of money and finances . . .,” said the source, who spoke at length in part because he was concerned the public accounting of the events has been incomplete. “It became very clear toward the end of those e-mails he was interested in taking action.”

So basically, the FBI, and DoD just ignored the evidence before AND AFTER the shootings;

The sources said the e-mail correspondence is particularly troubling because Aulaqi, who has been on the law enforcement radar for years, is considered by U.S. officials to be an al-Qaeda supporter who has inspired terrorism suspects in Britain, Canada and the United States. Lawmakers and counterterrorism experts have questioned why no one in the government interceded earlier given Aulaqi’s history and Hasan’s military position.

The disclosures came as investigators in the FBI and the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division continue to interview witnesses and execute search warrants in and around the Army’s largest post, in Killeen, Tex., and elsewhere.

Elsewhere, indeed.

Might have been terrorism!!?? Might have been!!?? That’s like saying Megan Fox might have a smokin hot body.

What a doofus. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck; it ain’t the aflac goose.

UpNorth

OldTrooper, give pink Karl a break, at least he’s opened his eyes, somewhat. This brings us back to a previous post here, “I have no confidence in the Army’s investigation”. Seems that Sen. Levin doesn’t have much confidence either.
And, to add to that, I have no confidence in the FBI’s investigation. After all, they’re part of the DoJ, and Eric Holder doesn’t have much of a good track record when it comes to terrorism.

VTWoody

Elsewhere indeed?

No way someone who’s name, picture, work address, phone number and email address would sell out a fellow combat vet over trying to save the honor of every deployed troop when the media was trying to paint a picture that hasan was a post combat stressed nutjob!

Well, unless that snitch has never been deployed to a war zone or was nothing but a pogue who wishes he had the stones to stay in a combat arms slot long enough to do something other then pretty much be a basic training company commander.

Looks like I need to go to the big building in crystal and see what a snitch looks like. A snitch who cares more about a murderer then the millions of us who have to fight these stereotypes that come from being deployed.

Oh, on a different note, I just saw this movie and it had a great line in it. “Snitches get stitches”. I just think that rolls off the tongue really well!

I hope I learn how to deal with my ptsd without ever becoming violent.

Karl didn’t open his eyes as much as he had them pried open by the overwhelming facts of this case.

This case is explosive. How was this guy able to operate like this? How many other Hasans are there?

I don’t care who finds the answers — Democrat, Republican, Martian or Whig. I want the truth. And I want accountibility of those who allowed this to happen.

Scrapiron

Thirteen murdered, 31 wounded and hundreds of lives destroyed by the liberal/marxist democrat demands for political correctness. Never, ever dare call an Islamic terrorist a terrorist, even when recent history proves 99% of them are. I’m still waiting for the one moderate Islamist to surface but they can’t for fear their terrorists friends will murder them.
Then Dirty Harry Reid and Pigloshi, backed by a marxist president, will use their position and marsist/communist leanings/ties to destroy more lives than all terror acts combined. The sham medical control bill in congress is far more dangerous to the average American than terrorism.

bman

Woody, you will be just fine with your ptsd. A lot of us have learned to live with it and the WW2 guys just buried it in their minds.

It wasn’t 13 dead. It was 14. Woman was pregnant.

Well, the lights may be coming on, but I still doubt that anyone’s home.

UpNorth

Woodman, absolutely right. We know the lights are on at the WH but there certainly is no one home there. Nor at the House or Senate.
AP, it’s amazing that Karl would open his mouth without clearance from the dems and 0, bet he changes his mind, or just shuts up soon. And I agree with last, I want the truth, not the White House version of the truth, and heads need to roll, if this was glossed over and allowed to happen.

“…he would investigate the handling of the e-mails — 18 or 19 in all —…”

Don’t they even know the correct count? Maybe one is so incriminating that it must be held back to protect someone?

The rotten smell of a cover-up has been emanating since the initial reporting and continues. Could it be coincidence that the faux global warming unknown hacker dump, the senate fast track to a cloture vote, the one out of country, and other stories, all broke in the aftermath of Hasan and his connections to HS?

UpNorth

Makes you wonder, if they aren’t sure of the number, doesn’t it? And the State Run Media trots out anything they can to make this disappear from the pages and airwaves.
Remember, the FBI was sure it wasn’t terrorism, within 2 to 3 hours of the shootings. How could they know that fast, and why would they comment on an ongoing investigation? Unless they got orders from higher up in the food chain.

I sure would like to know the CBS source of this information from Nov 8th.

Hasan Computer Reveals No Terror Ties

(CBS) A preliminary review of the computer of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused shooter in Thursday’s rampage at Fort Hood in which 13 people were killed, has revealed no evidence of any connection to terror groups or conspirators, according to law enforcement officials.

CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports that an examination of the computer has revealed Hasan visited Web sites promoting radical Islamic views, but investigators have not found any e-mail communications with outside facilitators or known terrorists.

One senior official told CBS News, “Everything continues to indicate that Hassan acted alone.”

Scrapiron

Terrorists should learn that the leadership of this country don’t care about the average citizen/soldier so they should move their sights up the food chain, maybe to congress. That would get them in the world news, maybe even on America’s fringe media outlets, and lots of cheers from the American people.

Coverup Recipe:

1 Part “Not Terrorism” proclamation from FBI before scene even secured.
Stir in 2 Parts “Elsewhere, indeed”
Sprinkle with “Blue ribbon panel”

UpNorth

BNG, you forgot one ingredient, one part “don’t jump to conclusions”.

JuniorAG

One senior official told CBS News, “Everything continues to indicate that Hassan acted alone.”

Memo to the Federal Bureau of Idiots: The above quote is the definition of a LONE WOLF TERRORIST.

Brown Neck Gaitor

UpNorth,

I always thought that “don’t jump to conclusions” is a matter of taste, so I like to leave it on the side.

UpNorth

If “acting alone” means he went to Ft. Hood and did the shooting by himself, maybe he did act alone. But, if they’re discounting his contacts with known inciters of terrorism, that “senior official” is full of it.
BNG, maybe you’re right, it’s a side dish.
