Sheriff: Man shot in knee after assaulting son, neighbor
Investigators now say the “victim” was actually the aggressor

Investigators now say the shooting Thursday evening on Vulcan Lane in Harrison was a case of self-defense.

And the “victim” has now been charged, himself.

Hamilton County investigators said that Gregory Burnett had actually assaulted his son and a neighbor.

He was then shot in the knee in self-defense.

1 dead after shooting inside local home; homicide investigation launched

DAYTON — A man is dead after a shooting in Dayton Wednesday.

Around 3 p.m. Dayton police and medics were called to the first block of West Norman Avenue for reports of shots fired, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch.

When officers arrived on scene they found a man dead inside of the home, according to Sgt. Creigee Coleman with Dayton Police Department.

A neighbor spoke to News Center 7 anonymously about what she saw, she asked to be referred to as “D.”

“D” said she was sitting on her porch when she saw cruisers line up in front of the home.

She said a father and son live there, and while police were investigating, the son joined her on the porch to say what happened.

“He told me somebody had broken into the house,” she said. “Then he said that next thing he knew the the dude was sitting in his dad’s bed.” “D” said.

She said the son told her the man said something to the dad and then the shooting happened.

This is investigative reporting at its finest- she said he said they said something.  Ask me why I never speak to the press.

Caution, 21 foot rule.

Bless all y’all’s hearts and thanks to Gun Bunny and Old Tanker for today’s links.

Yankees don’t understand that the Southern way of talking is a language of nuance. What we can do in the South is we can take a word and change it just a little bit and make it mean something altogether different.

Man shot in knee…..put a little limp in his gimp.

That video is old news, emphasis on old. While the information is still relevant today, and proximity to a threat can result in your own injury or death even if you have a gun, it’s now 2024.

What I see in the latter part of the video is a fascist pig accosting an unarmed Black man. A knife isn’t a deadly weapon, at least here in the US; only high-capacity black assault weapons count as sentient weapons of mass destruction, and the Black man was clearly just trying to survive his encounter with F12. It was clearly a case of self-defense against systemic racism.

On a serious note, one thing that scares the hell out of me is the possibility of being disarmed and having my own weapon used against me. The “empty hand tactics” mentioned in the video are something that I don’t think many cops and other armed professionals take seriously beyond what’s taught at the Academy. Sure, there are a lot of cops these days that train jiu-jitsu and other martial arts, hit the gym, and look like someone you don’t want to mess with, but there are many more who are simply collecting a paycheck and couldn’t handle their own in any physical situation. Look at the overreliance on Tasers and such. “Taser, Taser, Taser!” Well, that didn’t work, and now the suspect’s closed the distance and I’m leaking from a few dozen stab wounds.”

I’m observant and notice a lot of people that open carry and seem to think their gun is a deterrent unto itself. From small female Probation Officers (what can I say, she was buying a gun and caught my eye ’cause she was cute…) to overweight Redneck Hunters, their sidearm is kept in a non-retention holster on their hip while they have zero situational awareness. I’ve seen uniformed cops with the same lack of awareness; I guess they think a Level III+ retention holster and visible badge is the end-all/be-all for their personal safety. Gun beats knife, except when knife beats gun, and now they have your gun.

Testify!…to all of the above. To me, open carrying is kinda like the guy with the great big, jacked up, snobby tired, 4 wheel drive, loud muffler, pick up truck that has never left the pavement. Attention whore. “Look at me!” See it all the time and think to myself “Thank you for becoming the primary target for when the SHTF.” I dress to carry, concealed, every where I go, not expecting to have to use my weapon, but better to have and not need than…well…IYKYK. YMMV

A true “Family Affair”. *sigh*

I’ve done many an interview thru-out my life. Even with giving a written “Press Release” they very seldom get it right. Another *sigh*…and another…FAFO.

“Aim low boys…they’re riding Shetland Ponies…” Bless y’all’s hearts…indeed. GO DAWGS and Roll Tide Roll!

Who doesn’t love them a Colt’s SAA? Paladin’s was custom built for his Tee Vee show. Matt Dillon toted an original. The Gun Bunny may and or may not have an Umberti repro that he got an exceptional deal on.

“Aim low boys” is the title to a Lewis Grizzard book as I recall.
From the linked article about Mr. Colt:
“He was also the one who first made the use of interchangeable parts a practical reality in the manufacturing process.”
Bullshit, bullshit, bullSHIT. ‘Twas Eli Whitney who created Colt’s assembly lines of interchangeable parts. Mr. Whitney has a unique position – the cotton gin helped create the South as a power, and the “American method” of assembly lines with interchangeable parts helped the North beat the South.

Co-wreck, David…move right on up to the head of the class. I had, at one point in time, autographed, FIRST (ht2 CW) Editions of every thing Lewis Grizzard had written before his untimely death. Didn’t get custody of them books in the divorce. Considered him a friend and he was a proud member of the UGA Bull Dawg Nation. I know that Lewis had a joyful re-union with his doggo “Catfish” upon Lewis’ untimely passing. I quit buying the ATL Junk and Constipation soon after he died. LG Sr. was a WWII and Korean War Vet that never got over being the sole survivor of a ChiCom attack. I used the title of the Aim Low Boys book as a nod to the Colt’s Peacemaker our Beloved AW1Ed used for today’s gun pr0n.

Co-wreck, too, on the Whitney comment. LG Jr rolls over in his grave daily at the lack of true journalism today. Eli’s cotton gin invention is for sure what started the whole “Cotton is King” thing and he certainly didn’t get rich off of it. Way too many others stole his patented idea, making just enough changes to fight any copyright infringement suits. Eli did do quite well for himself building weapons, and other things, using the assembly line process…and skilled machinists. Some research shows that Whitney’s shops turned out more weapons than many others, tho the finished product may have another name on it.

The SAA in the pic above is an original 1873 black powder model with the bullseye ejection rod and frame screw retention for the cylinder base pin. Matt’s SAA appears to be such a model, as his also has the bullseye ejector rod head.
