Bat-wielding homeowner catches porch pirate by setting trap, video shows
Queens homeowner Carlos Mejia said, ‘I was just trying to make an example for those out there… stealing from others’

By Chris Eberhart
A New York City homeowner snared a sticky-fingered porch pirate in his trap and greeted him with a baseball bat, security video shows.

Carlos Mejia of Queens used a bat to hold the guy who grabbed the decoy package on Saturday, but Mejia said he’s “done” with thieves following FedEx and UPS trucks to nab packages left on his porch.

It’s a frustrating issue that impacts online customers across the country. In New York City alone, an estimated 90,000 packages are lost or stolen each day, according to the NYC Department of Transportation.

“I was just trying to make an example for those out there doing the same thing… stealing from others,” Mejia told Storyful.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3826 Faulkner Street

The fatal shooting of a male at 3826 Faulkner Street about 11 p.m. on Wednesday (April 3) is being referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, a security guard, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Meek and Detective M. Perez reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds inside an apartment. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined a security officer attempted to break up a disturbance between the male (deceased) and another person in the complex. The male, who appeared to be impaired. became irate, went to his apartment and retrieved his weapon. He then returned and pointed the gun at the security guard. Fearing for his life, the security guard discharged his weapon and struck the male.

Impaired irate and room temperature in Houston, KHOU is nowhere to be found. Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

Too bad the Queens NY citizen didn’t hit a Home Run on the perp’s head…sending it all the way to Louisville. That would have really taken the perp out of the ball game.

Security Guard has been working on his night moves. Perp needs to learn that when it’s time to shoot, don’t point…shoot. Oh…wait…too late for him now.

It should be conspicuous that my compassion for paying the costs foisted upon us by others is as cold as my final ex’s heart.

$4.1K is a little better than the nearly $40K example shown the other day, but…still… Not everyone has the level of ill gotten gains such as a Director of Media Relations…or an All Pointy Logistics outfit. “Oh and you’ll need to stop and decide on caliber as well, since a .45 ACP version is available to accompany the 9mm model I shot…” Wonder which one y’all think that The Gun Bunny would choose…

It’s not a trap if the passerby is honest and doesn’t take the porch pirate bait.
I have NO sympathy for anyone who takes one step off the public sidewalk onto someone’s private property in order to porch pirate a package.

Maybe we could order some of these…

Only if it’s molded with nails and tannerite.

I’ve seen one (somewhere, somewhen) holding a Claymore with “FRONT TO ENEMY” clearly molded into it.

Like this one?

I saw a 1911 some months back that was a beauty. The cutdown at the front of the frame, where the cup retains the recoil spring…..wasn’t there. It was straight all along the frame, from trigger to spring cup.
don’t recall the name, the maker, or where I saw it. It may even have been on these pages, for all I remember.
But I have a feeling that if ‘Ed wants to send Gun Bunny into orgasmic spasms, find and post that gun.
Then step back.

Ms Thang asked me if that was a 1911 in my pocket or was I glad to see her.
