A CNN Analyst takes ‘bloodbath’ comment out of context, insinuates anti-terror plan against Trump supporters

| March 18, 2024

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Juliette Kayyem, CNN National Security Analyst, took Donald Trump’s statement about economic bloodbath out of context. Donald Trump talked about an economic bloodbath if China builds vehicles in Mexico while taking advantage of the free trade agreement to escape tariffs. However, Kayyem and others removed “economic” and the rest of the argument out, and insinuated that Trump claimed that there would be bloodbath if he did not win the election.

From the Federalist:

“China now is building a couple of massive plants where they’re going to build the cars in Mexico,” Trump said during an Ohio rally. “[China thinks] that they’re going to sell those cars into the United States with no tax at the border.”

“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those cars — if I get elected,” the former president continued. “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath.”

Democrats and the media, however, cut the clip to suggest the former president was simply saying there would “be a bloodbath” if he lost. All over TV screens and social media last weekend, they spread the deliberately false disinformation narrative that Trump had called for a violent “bloodbath” if he loses.

Kayyem fired off an alarming — yet telling — post on X in which she admitted the DOJ’s unrelenting campaign to jail Trump is failing to influence the election enough to make Trump lose. Kayyem is a former Obama administration DHS official, a current advisor to an Israeli surveillance company, and a former DOJ official.

The Federalist provides additional information here. Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers, warned about this kind of media deception in one of his commentaries.

Commissar

He said Biden being re-elected would be a bloodbath for the auto industry, then went on to say it would be a bloodbath for the entire country.

On an SAT the correct answer would be he meant economic bloodbath since the preceding statement referenced an aspect of the economy.

So, yes, out of context.

What is not “out of context” is a long history of dogwhistles calling for violence. He warned several times of violence if he loses the election. He did it in 2020 and he continues to warn of violence.

He also calls for violence often, shooting protestors, shooting shoplifters, killing drug dealers, shooting immigrants, and he and his MAGA supporters foam at the mouth whenever he pumps them up with promises of revenge and retribution again democrats, liberals, the deep state, the media, and whatever enemy he is whinging about at the time.

So, it is out of context, but it is completely reasonable to take it as another dog whistle warning in a long pattern of dog whistles and calls for violence in his rallies and speeches.

What’s wrong with shooting shoplifters and drug dealers?

I’ll grant that shooting people for thievery may be a bit much. I’d go for lopping off the dominant hand.

Commissar

Because that would mean throwing out much of the bill of rights, removing due process for citizens, and becoming a country where drug dealers and shoplifters can be extrajudicially executed.

For that kind of system to work we would need to follow governance models of countries that have similar policies…North Korea and Iran for instance.

It shocks me how so many MAGA want to live in a totalitarian regime.

Grunt

You added “extrajudicially”.

I’m all for enhancements of sentences once a defendant is rightfully convicted in a court of law by a jury of their peers.

We get what we tolerate. Since “we” as a society have decided that thievery is “just a property crime”, and it’s not in many places not even an arrestable offense, guess what? We get more of it.

Also, not MAGA. Never been. But thanks for pre-judging me. You lunatics are really good about that shit. See someone on a .mil themed website, assume redneck racist, right?

Fuck off.

SgtM

Coming from the guy who provided aid and relief to people burning down police stations and destroying businesses. Kristallnacht much?

5JC

Ah just so we are clear as I already showed you, Trump NEVER called for extra-judicially killing drug dealers. But just like the leftist media, you like rocking the lies.

Also, hate to break this to you, most of the population of the world lives in a system where drug dealing is a capital offense. Most Arab and the most populous countries in Asia already have that in place. They seemed to have figured out it is a bad thing.

A Proud Infidel®™

“Also, hate to break this to you, most of the population of the world lives in a system where drug dealing is a capital offense.”

And that’s not anything recent, I remember looking through a Tourist brochure on traveling to Malaysia which had in white letters on a red background at the bottom “Trafficking in drugs carries the Death Penalty”, and that was in 1988!

Ditto Singapore, China, Taiwan in the ’90s.

Singapore and China still hand out the deep prize on the regular. Taiwan has it on the books but has throttled back.

It shocks me that you cannot or will not see that the most “totalian regimes” in recent history are the current oval office resident, only exceeded by your Lord and Master Obama. Both have used everything they can think of to circumvent the legislature and rule by executive fiat. “Open minded liberals” are once again proving themselves to be raging fascists. And you willingly worship at their feet. A raging, indoctrinated fraud.

“removing due process”
“extrajudicially executed”

You are the one who brought that up.

The term “projection” applies here, I think.

Blaster

So, if you catch someone climbing through the window of your young child, your first thought is their Due Process and their Constitutional Rights?

Ok, your problem! For their sake, let’s hope they pick your home. At mine, a very different outcome is going to take place!

Blaster

It would damn sure slow down the nonsense!

5JC

Being as it was a dog whistle us humans didn’t hear it. But good on you for that. So far as shooting shoplifters, you missed the mark there and other places..

“Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store”

I know with your vast law enforcement knowledge that you know robbery and shop lifting are very different. Robbery is a violent crime for which most states allow you to use deadly force to stop. So the SAT answer would be that Trump suggested shooting robbers not shoplifters.

So far as shooting protestors, Trump never publicly called for that. According to single source reporting, he asked Esper if they could:

“Can’t you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?”

In order to shut down the protests. Esper was the single source on that when he was writing his book. Which seems a little odd for a public meeting. Now if you believe he actually meant that, that might be a thing. But you believe a lot of strange things so that’s ok. But it might have a poor taste joke, which he has definitely done before.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/08/05/when-rally-goer-suggested-shooting-immigrants-may-trump-made-joke/

Which yes, he did talk about shooting immigrants running across the border, in the legs, to slow them down, but as the WP (hardly a conservative paper) pointed out was a bad joke.

So far as Trump wanting to kill drug dealers, he did indeed call for the death penalty for drug dealers. Given that more million people have died from drug over doses in the last 8 years and drug dealers are responsible for the overwhelming majority of murders in the US, I can kind of see his point. However you seem to be framing extra-judicially and *shocker* taking it out of context.

So the SAT answer to the Jeopardy prompt “An idiotic retired Army Major who has pretty much failed at everything in life but remains an ardent believer in liberalism” would be:

Many moons ago, the NYPD had what were called a safe and loft squad and they did various stakeouts inside stores that were the targets of armed robbers. They did their sakeouts usually in a storeroom or space above the floor with a one way mirror to see what was going and before an armed perp could do anything, they shotgunned the perp right through the mirror. This was stopped after awhile like the NYPD TPF back in the sixties after taking care of the Viet-Nam protesters, and were involved in other violent protests. Equiptment were hats and bats. My barber was a member of the TPF back in the day.

Welcome back commisar. I, and probably many others, knew this “news item” would get a response from you.

You admit it was taken out of context, so for a brief moment I thought maybe you were beginning to wake up. And then you go completely off the rails talking about shootings, killings, etc.

Illegal immigrants, I mean disadvantaged migrant come to this country and assault the cops, see New York city recently, and are released. College student in Georgia killed by same type of disadvantaged migrant, also released. Chicago having an outbreak of measles at one of the places they are being housed at, I believe it was an airport. Those are just a few that immediately come to mind, yet you worry about trumps language or message delivery. Didn’t Biden just champion for the UAW during their recent strike against the big 3, was “instrumental” in securing them pay raises and other benefits? And now, with the big push to electrify our transportation segment, won’t that put all those people at risk of being put out of a job?

Engine plants? Transmissions? Neither of those will be needed. Engineers to design or line workers to assemble? Sorry, there’s the door. Good thing Biden helped them get those raises.

Team Biden thanks you for your support in November.

Of course it will. The Chinese plan to make electric cars that will be many thousands cheaper than the US made ones. Almost all US and European made EV’s are tens of thousands more than their IC equivalent. So, US made EV’s will constantly be unsold. It will be a disaster for US carmakers, to wit, an economic bloodbath.

fm2176

I watched a montage of MSM personalities using the exact term this morning. “Bloodbath” is in the common vernacular and should hardly be taken literally in most contexts. Anyone claiming that Trump is threatening physical violence should he “lose” the election this year is drowning in the TDS Kool-Aid.

Trump is what our nation needs in the near future. He’s also not what our nation needs in the long run. Let me try to make sense of my statement: Trump is a political outsider, independently wealthy and [seemingly] free from the typical corruption of what he calls The Swamp, despite the best efforts of all three branches of government to brand him as a criminal without any moral or ethical boundaries. Compare him, a business magnate, former registered Democrat, and current vilified Republican, to his current opponent Biden, a lifelong politician who’s somehow managed to enrich his family through the machinations of Washingtonian affairs. Compare Trump to a certain former First Lady and Secretary of State, who has a long history of covered up scandals involving both her and her husband, and who is similarly well off after a lifetime of “selfless” public service. Hell, compare Trump, who attempted to keep his campaign promises and who seems to be almost clairvoyant in his predictions, to almost any other politicians at the national or even state level, and he’s about as nonstick as you can get…well, unless you suffer from TDS or bury your head in the MSM’s 4th point of contact.

fm2176

Onto why he’s not what our nation needs long term. He’s divisive, blunt and to the point, without the ability (or at least the care) to soften his tone against opponents. My amateur opinion is that we need four more years of him to wreak havoc in DC, start undoing the damaging caused by his predecessors and especially the current Resident, and remind Americans of exactly how great our nation can be when we have an assertive and confident Executive. He needs to pave a path for more “tolerable” pro-American politicians (and, after all of the vitriol spewed at Trump, nearly anyone with a slightly softer tone will be viewed as an improvement by establishment politicians and their MSM cronies).

I’m probably entirely off base here, but I think that four years of Trump, followed by at least eight years of his recently defeated and less hated Republican primary opponents (not Haley, but either DeSantis or Ramaswamy), could help us get back to that magical goal (turned hate speech) of making American Great Again. The alternative is FJB passing the reins over to the Cackler-in-Chief, continued open borders even as Americans are disarmed and police and the military undermined, and eventual destruction from within. But what do I know? I’m just a transplanted Virginian who abandoned the old stomping grounds that were too close to The Swamp in order to move to the state that’s known for its less treacherous swamps filled with far better wildlife.

I had a boss recently who was just like Trump in his management skills. He too was blunt, divisive and very much to the point. He often said, if you don’t like working here, taco bell is hiring. You were hired to work, and you will work for the time you’re here.

Trump was liked by most everybody before he entered politics by the very same people who hate him now. Hell, he donated to some of them.

As far as DeSantis goes, he too was being bankrolled by the very people who didn’t like Trump. Wall Street vs Main street. Conservative Treehouse wrote articles on this very subject. And when DeSantis dropped out, they switched their support to Haley.

Ramaswamy seemed a bit better than OK, but he came from nowhere, and had no name recognition that I’m aware of. I couldn’t, still can’t, think of anything he did that was noteworthy. Maybe somebody here can point out his accomplishments.

So, forget about how Trump talks, but focus more on what he was able to do. A big one for me is we never entered into a war for 4 years, other than what he inherited.
World leaders may have despised him, but he didn’t give a rats arse. Him telling our NATO allies to basically put up or shut up, we were done financing the world’s security.
Becoming an exporter of oil meant bringing money in, instead of sending money to locals that hated us.

So yeah, it was refreshing to see someone with a spine come in and stir the pot. We can now see better who has America’s best interest at heart, and who has been getting wealthy off yours and my back, while giving away the store and leaving crumbs for us.

fm2176

Good points. Let’s hope the establishment doesn’t find a way to disqualify him or otherwise prevent him from running. “America First” has been targeted by the Left and their ilk for too long. I’ll admit, Trump’s years in office offered renewed hope for people like me.

As for my comments last night, perhaps I didn’t make the best word choice. He came out swinging (and rightfully so) when he won in 2016. We’d had the Second Coming of the Chosen One who felt she was all but guaranteed to succeed the Chosen One himself. It was supposed to be eight years of the First Black President ™, followed by eight years of the First Woman President. Imagine what sixteen years of Obama and Hillary combined what have caused. Given the shrieking coming from the Clintonistas, Trump had to have the louder voice and the last word.

I do think that had Trump been a little less brash during his first term, he’d have easily gotten a second. One good side to what is hopefully just a four-year hiatus is that anyone willing to acknowledge it can see that Biden and his supporters “serve” to undermine our freedoms and our nation as a whole. Another good thing is come November, if/when Trump is elected for a second time, he can truly take off the gloves. For eight years now, he’s been accused of nearly everything imaginable and dragged through the political judicial mud. If MAGA 2.0 is pulled off, and he selects a good running mate, we could possibly see 12 years of strong leadership. If the Dems win or take the election, I think we’ll only get more internal strife while being considered a laughingstock on the world stage.

Odie

Your choice of wording was fine. I do think the reason for the mad rush to get Trump stems from the fear of one phrase he uttered… we got em, we got em all.

I can’t wait to see Trumps return and watch the people who not only tried to trash Trump, but also sell all of us out for a few pieces of silver. May God have mercy on their souls as very few citizens will.

I too hope Trump picks an excellent VP, as that person can continue with getting the mess cleaned up. It was probably a good thing Trump lost in 20 as we would not see just how truly vile and despicable our “betters” had become.

Let’s bring punishment for treason back in style, and those that escape those charges, leave them with not enough money to buy a van to live by the river in.

Trump really sucked at being a fascist. The biggest complaint from the left was that he wasn’t over stepping power and violating civil rights fast enough to save us from the COVID flu. They wanted to herd people into camps.

The biggest complaint from the left was that [Trump] wasn’t over stepping power and violating civil rights fast enough to save us from the COVID flu. They wanted to herd people into camps.

I believe they still do!

Also, PDJT was criticized for just the mere suggestion about NG being tapped to prevent violence against LEOs/Police stations/Fed Courts, installations, and personnel. In part it was going to free up LEOs to ‘work the streets’ as opposed to protect infrastructure.

Heck, ‘The Surge’ ‘worked’ in Iraq. (Right, Diamond Dave?)

Hell, they still are fucking lying about what happened at the White House riot in 2020. The not-an-insurrection event was good because Orange Man is orange… or something. Dozens of agents were assaulted and the assholes breached the security perimeter.

I’m so glad they retain the cover of the lame stream media and big tech to foist the narrative that war crimes were committed by armed thugs, without cause. (/s)

Trump had all the reasons to ‘take the bait’ and everything he did regarding use-of-force was damn-near saintly, thank the Lord.

Remember when he offered the National Guard to blue cities that were being overwhelmed by antifa, and antifa like groups? Governor’s and mayor’s were more worried about the optics of accepting help from the perceived enemy of the United States, and said no thanks.
