Joe Biden awarding the Medal of Honor to Captain Larry Taylor

Larry Taylor, who just last year received the Medal of Honor for his daring rescue of a surrounded LRRP team in Vietnam, has sadly passed away. He was 81 years old.

Local news channel WBIR has the story;

An East Tennessee Army veteran who recently received the Medal of Honor for his heroism during the Vietnam War has died. Capt. Larry Taylor died on Sunday, Jan. 28 at his home in Signal Mountain.

Taylor received the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor, in Sept. 2023, which came nearly 55 years after he pulled off one of the most daring and unique rescues in American combat history.

Godspeed, Captain Taylor. I’m glad you got to feel the silk ribbon you earned around your neck, even if it took more than five decades to get it for you.

“… I was just doing my job,” said Taylor, who was a helicopter pilot who flew more than 2,000 combat missions that included 61 combat decorations…” That such men lived.

Rest Easy, Good Sir and enjoy your Eternity in Valhalla. May your last landing be a soft one. “We’re just Southern Boys, doing well right now…”

55% of that ribbon rack is badass, before adding the MoH!

Glad he finally received it! Too bad it was hung around his neck by that PoS!

God Speed CPT!

Thank God CPT Taylor was awarded the Medal of Honor while he was still alive. Late, yes, but at least he was alive.

Rest well, CPT Taylor.

I also saw yesterday where Roger Donlon died the other day at 89. I got to hang about with roger a few times, and he was a cool head. Really funny too.

RGR 4-78

They had to put an extra engine in his helo just to get those brass balls of his off the ground.

Death has to come for him at 81, because Captain Taylor would’ve flown his helo right up the Devil’s ass if he tried sooner.

Godspeed Captain: enjoy paradise for you truly served your time in hell.

Major Tuddy

Rest in honored glory, Sir.

🥃🍺 <—a toast for CPT Taylor.
