by: Gabriel Castillo, Brónagh Tumulty
CHICAGO — A shootout erupted on Sunday morning after a man allegedly attempted to recover his stolen vehicle on the city’s South Side.
Liborio Torres said his son’s car was stolen from the 5500 block of South Kostner Avenue early Sunday morning. The family called the police to report the theft, but Torres said the car also had a tracker in it. Despite a warning from police not to follow it, he and his son began to track the vehicle.
According to Torres, they found the car a short time later in a parking lot in the 100 block of West 87th Street, with three people inside.
Torres said the three individuals inside the car spotted him and his son and that is when they opened fire.
“They saw us and started driving and that’s when the other guys in the back started shooting at us,” Torres said.
According to Chicago police, the vehicle then allegedly fled the scene following the shooting.

Dad and son took it upon themselves to track down the car thieves, rather than wait on Chicago’s PD to act. Wonder why this is?

Thanks again Gun Bunny.
Well, it’s a fine soft night, so I think I’ll go and join me comrades and talk a little treason.

Sometimes you just have to take things into your own hands… The in-laws’ neighbor had his new Suburban stolen one morning about 15 years ago. He had it warming up in his driveway and an ambitious young Hispanic man decided to borrow it to get to his internship at MCV. The neighbor jumped in his wife’s car and chased the guy down, who fortunately wasn’t carrying a gun.
Those Kimber revolvers are nice. We carry more or less the whole line of Kimber handguns, and used to have a couple of their rifles, though I don’t think we stock those anymore. Honestly, though, I’m not the biggest fan of their M1911s. I like spending money on guns that run out of the box, like Glock, Beretta, and SIG Sauer. Kimber recommends a break-in of up to 500 rounds; I sent one off that was having extraction issues with only a few dozen rounds through it and was told just that. Regardless, the Micro9 is one of our biggest sellers and comes at a decent price. I just don’t think I’be dropping over $1.5k on a Rapide anytime soon.
Ah…Sweet Home Chicago…These young lads shoulda taken the advice of Queen Aretha and “Think….!”
Good on the inside home overwatch position. A little more range time is recommended.

I do believe that I see a pattern to this week’s Gun Pr0n. The Gun Bunny….approves!
Requesting assistance from career NAVY veterans.
FOIA FGS.
I just received this FOIA, at the request of others.
No smoking guns.
2 year Navy SeaBee veteran,
who enlisted under the 2+8 option
(2 years active duty Navy, 6 years Navy Reserves).
However, his 6 year Navy Reserves commitment
lasted less than 3 months.
Can anyone provide helpful opinions on this sea service discrepancy?
Thanks. 🙂
The unverified verbals sent to me over his conflicting “stories” include…
—- fight with a Navy SEAL
—- California DUI
—- brig / jail time
—- workplace injury on duty in his CB unit at Port H.
If anyone can provide insight,
as to whether any of the above could be contributing factors to
a 6 year Navy Reserves commitment ending in under 3 months,
anything you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again. 🙂
Oh no. You can get a RPG-2 for $350?!
It ain’t in the budget, but I do have a credit card… and my Red Dawn larp game is weak.

Atlantic Arms, $600 but assembled and with an inert projectile!
Oh man! It’d be great to have one strapped; voting, paying property taxes, attending a counter demonstration of leftoids…
Honestly, I’d consider it.
No doubt that I’d give that Kit-Kitty a home. He’d make an excellent addition to the Security of the North Wall @ Firebase Magnolia. He could also thin out the squirrels that are stealing all of the pecans and walnuts. Is his name Tony…or Hobbes?
At $795 it would already be in my holster. Alas, I’m about to purchase Glock 30 in .45 as it is cheaper than going to Massachusetts to recover an “arsenal”–by Massachusetts standards.
I have plenty of real .45s, that were not lost in boating accident, but it’s nearly 2.300 miles from America to Socialist Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
As JB was given to say, “there’s a woman to blame… it could be my fault…”
