Marine Veteran, Ray Epps, gets one year of probation for his role in the Capitol riot

| January 12, 2024

Ray Epps was on video interacting with protesters in Washington DC on January 6, 2021. As many protesters and rioters were brought in to face their charges, Ray Epps was not among them. Conservatives asked why others were held accountable and Epps appeared to keep getting away from accountability. However, Epps recently faced charges. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge, received no jail time, and was put on probation. His probation does not come with travel restrictions.

From the Military Times:

Ray Epps, a former Arizona resident who was driven into hiding by death threats, pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor charge. He received no jail time, and there were no restrictions placed on his travel during his probation, but he will have to serve 100 hours of community service.

He appeared remotely by video conference and wasn’t in the Washington, D.C., courtroom when Chief Judge James Boasberg sentenced him. Prosecutors had recommended a six-month term of imprisonment for Epps.

Epps’ sentencing took place in the same building where Trump was attending an appeals court hearing as the Republican former president’s lawyers argued he’s immune from prosecution on charges he plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election he lost.

Fox News Channel and other right-wing media outlets amplified conspiracy theories that Epps, 62, was an undercover government agent who helped incite the Capitol attack to entrap Trump supporters. Epps filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News last year, saying the network was to blame for spreading baseless claims about him.

I’m no longer. . . but for a few years in the recent past I had been very surprised at how bad the USG is at making things look like they weren’t a government coverup, conspiracy, plot, etc.

It occurred to me that Democrats figured out that that with the press in their pocket and conservative media safely labeled as “conspiracy theorists”, they are safe to be as brazen as possible. Republicans get away with it too sometimes, but I think the press has to be convinced the issue conforms to the goal of greater government power.

I don’t know if Mr. Epps was somehow involved on the USG (Dem) side but but it sure the hell looks like it.

Perception is reality. What I saw was someone agitating the crowd, motivating them to go and commit acts that could very well (and after the fact, did) result in arrests and jail/prison time, and yet go unprosecuted and uncharged for nearly three years.

If I scream “FIRE” in a crowded theater, then just go back to my seat and enjoy the movie, am I to blame for any injuries that result from that. If I interfere with a cop doing his job, as a bona fide “Auditor” (I’m definitely not, but have seen some of those jackasses on the interwebs), and this results in the criminal escaping, am I not at least somewhat at fault? Maybe those are poor analogies, but the point is that a failure to prosecute me would imply that the system is rigged.

Law enforcement, especially at the federal level, seems to get away with quite a bit of discretionary crime. Colluders and informants often go unpunished or given slaps on the wrists for stuff that others do hard federal prison time for.

How do know he was a Fed?
The only guy caught on tape saying “Lets go INTO the Capital” and he gets NO JAIL TIME.

Mason

Of all the people they blame for inciting the riot, he’s the only one on video explicitly doing it. Yet a dude who wasn’t even in D.C. will spend more than a decade in prison.

Tell me you’re a FedBoi, without telling me you’re a FedBoi.

Initially, refused to investigate him, even though they, fan belters, put out his picture as one of the “insurrectionists.” Plus, on video he is seen whispering in the ear of a guy who promptly tears down several of the barricades.

“he will have to serve 100 hours of community service”

Will he get an additional “thank you for your service” on top of
the usual pat on the back we all look for?

Sacrifices have to be made. Perhaps they will give him a gig giving motivational speeches in support of the oligarchy?

Odie

He will get the big box, deluxe version of Crayola crayons. None of that dollar store, no name crap.

Tallwhagger

Maybe Trump will have the case “revisited” when he resumes Office.

Odie

I’m certain Trump will “revisit” many things. And many people are worried what will be revealed. They absolutely fear Trump.

5JC

It isn’t Trump they fear, it is accountability. They will do everything they can to keep him from office but if by circumstance he gets elected they will kill him before they let him serve a day.

I fear you are far too accurate in this perception. And if such an action does not lead to open civil war, I will be shocked and dismayed. As a poster here far smarter than me says on a regular basis… PREPARE

Me thinks he will just appeal the ruling later in a secret court date and it will all go away. INGSOC already has history books published.

Some history book: “…claims proven to be false.” I would like to see a transcript or a decision of a court case where there was any claim of voting irregularity or fraud proven to be false. The courts invariably refused to hear any such cases, claiming lack of standing or jurisdiction.

Someone(s) need to catch and hold Ray in a prison cell, unknown location, incommunicado, under the same conditions, for the same length of time as the J6 prisoners.
Now THERE would be justice!

But only if after time served, and then he could be used as the new jails cornerstone. Build it so deep, they have to pipe sunshine to him, but only a couple days a week.

I think it’s time for a real-world Punisher.

Agree. Bring out The Destroyer as well.

Good to see that The Sewer Rats and DOJ Gestapo are still protecting all of the innocent instigators of this horrible attempt to overturn the lawful (s)election of our savior joe. No denying that 81 million patriots cast their votes and got rid of The Bad Orange Man. It is also comforting to know that the evil Grandmas and Tourists that overpowered the Capitol Police Guards to storm into the halls of government are now on an extended taxpaid vacation at the Gray Bar Spa and Hotel.

I will believe there were 81 million voters for Joe when I see the lists of their names, registration, citizenship, and proof of them as live voters.

Hack Stone

If Hack Stone believes in conspiracies, he would think that the system was rigged.

I’ll just stick this right here…
