Saturday Sound bites

At Ft. Bliss (no doubt the most misnamed post – I know it was named for a person and not a state of mind, but still…) 1st Armored held a competition for Best Paralegal. PFC Richard Zheng won, and had one request for his winner’s prize:

Zheng, whose battalion is part of the division’s 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, had but one request. He wanted to “shoot a tank.”

So on Oct. 23, Jones (CSM Michael Jones, 4th Battalion, 6th Infantry Rgt) took Zheng out to the installation’s Range 88 to join tankers from the battalion’s Comanche Company who were doing gunnery tables that week. The paralegal jumped into the gunner’s seat on Sgt. Logan McCormick’s M1A2 Abrams tank and fired its 120mm main gun at a target on the range. Army Times ( and a nod to Jeff LPH)

Can’t be a lot of paralegals who can say that. PFC Zheng next heads to the III Corps Paralegal competition at Ft. Hood Cavazos.  Wonder what he’ll want to shoot next, a Navy 16 incher?

Seems Tuesday the White House via National Security Council spokesman John Kirby indicated that violent pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel folks are NOT considered domestic terrorists.

The White House indicated Tuesday that people in the U.S. making “violent antisemitic threats” were not going to be classified as “domestic terrorists.”

“I don’t know that we’re classifying people as domestic terrorists for that. I mean, that’s really a question better left to law enforcement. I’m not aware that there’s been such a characterization of that,” Kirby responded.  Fox News

Worried that your kid is being educated wrong? Terrorist. Making actual violent threats against Jews? Crickets.

Josh Hawley (R-MO) got into it with DHS head Mayorkas over the 600-some agents diverted to the southern border:

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., took aim at Mayorkas based on the testimony of a special agent from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) who said at least 600 agents had been pulled off other cases and sent to the border amid a surge in migrants crossing into the country.

When pressed for a specific number of agents that had been reassigned, Mayorkas didn’t have an answer, but said he’d be “very pleased” to provide it. He added that the reassigned agents were at the border “to fight the scourge of fentanyl.”

“That’s not what the special agent is alleging. That’s not what she said. She said that there were being taken off of fentanyl interdiction, taken off child exploitation cases, off of their other investigations into criminals to make sandwiches. That’s her quote. You’re saying that this is a lie? That she’s wrong?” Hawley said.  Fox News II

Hawley has been feisty this week and has been taking no prisoners. Nice to see we are attacking fentanyl head on. Whole wheat or white?

And closing, a George Soros-funded PAC, is running ads comparing a black candidate to Uncle Tom and saying he isn’t really black.  Do I need to say the candidate is conservative?

Black Voters Matter Action PAC, which FEC filings show received millions from Soros’ super-PAC, has been running the radio ad on a local R&B station based in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, describing Cameron as “Uncle Daniel Cameron,” and accusing him of betraying his race by declaring “all skinfolk ain’t kinfolk.”

“What’s up Kentucky? It’s election time, and all skinfolk ain’t kinfolk. Over the past few years, we’ve taken to the streets to demand racial justice, to demand healthcare, and the right to make decisions about our body. And now, Uncle Daniel Cameron is threatening to take us backwards

In a Saturday YouTube video, Black Star Network’s Roland Martin spoke with Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter Action PAC, who defended the ad and doubled down on the racialized attacks against Cameron.

“You don’t want to talk about the substance of the ad, he wanted to talk about the Uncle Daniel Cameron. And technically, we didn’t call him Uncle Tom right? (Depends on what your meaning if “is” is – ed.) To do so actually would probably be more of an insult to the actual Uncle Tom,” Albright said while discussing Cameron’s criticism.

Oh, but if Cameron was liberal, the outrage…
