Authorities investigating double homicide in midtown Tucson
Sarika Sood

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) — Two men are dead after a shooting in midtown Tucson.

Tucson Police Homicide Detectives describe last night’s shooting as a robbery “gone wrong.”

On Thursday, Oct. 12, at 11:20 p.m., authorities received several calls reporting a shooting at 3055 North Tyndall Avenue.

Officers responded to the apartment complex and located 26-year-old Daniel Alfredo Cortez-Arguelles and 41-year-old Vicente Apodaca.

Both men died at the scene.

Officers located and contacted the two men who had called 911.

Detectives learned the two men were in the parking lot near their cars when Cortez-Arguelles and Apodaca approached to two men with their faces concealed and attempted to rob them at gunpoint.

The two men drew their own pistols and shot Cortez-Arguelles and Apodaca.

Man killed after pulling a weapon on a neighbor at Tucson apartment complex

Charles Borla
A 37-year-old man was shot to death Thursday night after he pulled a “sharp-edged weapon” on a neighbor from his midtown apartment complex, Tucson police say.

Edgar Ramos, a resident of an apartment complex in the 2400 block of North Haskell Drive, was found dead about 9 p.m. by Tucson police officers responding to reports of a shooting, they said Friday in a news release.

Based off initial interviews, detectives believe Ramos confronted another resident of the complex, at some point producing a “sharp-edged weapon.”

Police say he then continued towards another resident, a 29-year-old man whose name was not released, who had a gun and shot Ramos.

“Sharp-edged weapon” is such a broad category of items that should not be, you know. Monday’s trifecta brought to us by our very own Gun Bunny.

Who in God’s name needs a weapon with 100 rounds in the chamber?

Well, Tucson police were busy, at least. If’n you play stupid games, you deserve the stupid prize of forever sleep.

My property isn’t worth my life, but it isn’t worth yours either. That’s something we see time and again, where someone gets it in their head that they deserve your material possessions. They will gladly exchange some fear and maybe even a bullet or two for the stuff you’ve worked for, but if you’ve got the means to maybe give them a bullet or two first, well, that’s just a damned shame. I mean, ammo for my .44 is over $1 a round now, so if you need a dollar, ask and I’ll give you one. If you demand a dollar at the threat of my life, I’ve got one with a little change.

My tolerance level for thieves and violent persons has diminished greatly in the last 10 years. First, there was the pre-Afghanistan deployment burglary. I’d been on pass, forgot the .357 that used to be my constant companion, and got home to a house with the power off and the doors open. Sure enough, damned near everything of value was stolen; tools, generator, lawn mower, TV, and a few guns that were outside of the safe, including that S&W Model 19. Scary stuff knowing that people had been coming and going and being unarmed when getting there. I remedied that immediately by going to the gun safe.

Then there were the meth head relative and his “friends”, stealing power tools and supplies while crashing at what was supposed to be a job site. Hitting the misses and me up for money for groceries and gas, all while prolonging the job the relative was hired for. Telling stories of murders, assaults, and other stuff like a then-Active Duty SFC would be impressed by your friends’ crimes. Drugs are a hell of a drug, much like a life full of poor decision making. But, hey, my brother got his discharge upgraded and his 80% disability compensation gets him and his “friends” a decent fix, so there’s that.

Definitely agree its a robbery gone right!

When I realized that we had a potential trifecta of DRTs FIRST (ht 2 CW) thing of a morning, I was as giddy as ChipNASA anticipating getting a dinner date with OAM. Fortunately, our armed citizens were better at accomplishing their mission than Chippy will ever be. Y’all may notice that these stories could have been posted on the SPoTW Thread as in stupid victim selection skilz and/or taking “a sharp-edged weapon” to a gun fight.

IIRC, the record for the number of rounds in a chamber (barrel) was one found on the Gettysburg Battle Field. It had 27. sniffy creepy prezzy joe prolly drops a record number of rounds in his chamber pot diaper every day. Betcha some of them folks at that music concert Friday was a week ago were wishing they had a weapon with a 100 round magazine in it.

Real nice hand howitzer ya gots there, mister. I gots a Little Ms Thang Brunette Lady Friend that totes one. She not only dresses for success, she dresses for concealed carry…and she wears it well (the outfits and the Super Redhawk). Her Daddy pulled 3 tours in the Viet of the Nam Times with MACV, one of which was during Tet. He taught her well from an early age that you should never be unarmed.

Sigh, my home town isn’t nearly the nice safe quiet place it used to be in the early to mid 70’s. Tucson has gotten to be rather dangerous. Close proximity to the border and the all dem council and mayor for the last 2 or 3 decades with sanctuary city idiocy has made it an unsafe place.

One should NEVER assume the robber will be content with your property. They may also want to remove witnesses from their perfidy. As Mr. Cooper said, criminals fear neither the courts nor Police so they should fear their victims.

Yeah, Regina (pronounced RUH-JYN-UH) is rapidly flushing Tucson down the sewer. Seems to be a banner year for shootings in Tucson this year, although I don’t have the umm… empirical data.

Tucson was always sketchy the three times I was stationed at Ft Huachuca….especially on weekends, early morning, after the bars closed, and the drunks were getting kicked out & to the curb. That’s when the fights and gunshots started.

HEH !!!
Holy crap, all three DRT !!!
They didn’t even get a chance to run at all !!!
Obviously some people are using their time to practice at the local gun range !!!

That Alaskan looks nice, but I think I’d prefer a slightly longer barrel, say, 3″-4″ (no longer then that).

Friend had an Alaskan in .44 mag.
We put a box of fifty rds through it and decided to save
