My Man, CW. Glad you made it. You get to clean up the mess that ChipNASA left with all of his unsent love sick puppy letters to OAM. Just as well that he never mailed them…they would have all been marked….”Return to Sender”
Gonna tackle this mess as soon as my Cubs take on the Braves … go, Cubs, go!
CW:
Congrats!
HOWEVER…
You are rooting for the WRONG Team…
GO BRAVES!
😉😎
Well, you were right. Our beloved Cubbies crashed and burned losing 8-0 to the Hatchet Men.
But you had to just love that 6 Eephus Pitch top of the ninth that was posted by Cubs catcher/relief pitcher Tucker Barnhart. Just goes to show you there is still fun to be had at the old ballpark. / s
With Saturday’s win by the Cubs, it seems that the issue will be decided today. I live in Georgia and root for the Braves … unless they’re playing the Cubs.
Now, in the unlikely event of a Braves/White Sox World Series, I’ll be doin’ the chop all the way. No respectable Chicagoan likes that AAA team on the south side. 😉
Go where (asks the cardinals fan)?
I have a line here, but it would close the show.
Tis a sad year for those of us who bleed Cardinal red. Unlike them Chicago and Atlanta teams…we’ll be back soon.
True that. Maybe it’s time for Mo to go too. And maybe Ollie as well.

In addition to hosting America’s Game, 2023 will feature several notable milestones for Massachusetts and the United States including the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, 225th anniversary of the USS Constitution’s maiden voyage and commissioning of the USS Massachusetts as a Navy vessel.”

Just a quick note of thanks, KoB, for your reply on the other thread about what ‘justice’ would look like — it’s been a busy few days for me and I didn’t get a chance to reply, but I really appreciated you took the time to share your thoughts.
Clearly, there are things we agree on, and things we don’t, but it’s always good to hear a differing opinion.

Hey, how about that! I got the coveted FIRST this week! So, as I open the gates to the goodies, I’ll also drop a trivia column for one and all. Enjoy!
DID YOU KNOW…?
Is something like “Jurassic Park” realistically possible?
By Commissioner Wretched
didyouknowcolumn@gmail.com
August! The beginning of the Dog Days!
Not the coolest time of the year, temperature-wise. In fact, in most places where you read this silliness, August is the hottest month of the year.
If you’re working in air conditioning repair or an electric utility, that’s your busiest time. And your most lucrative.
My most lucrative time, you ask? If you find out, let me know. Most of the time, it’s pretty much the same year-round. Small, but pretty much the same. Oh, well. Have some trivia.
Did you know …
… turnpikes are called that for a reason? Back in the days of yore, toll collectors on roads were armed with long-handled weapons called pikes which were used to prevent travelers from using the road without paying the proper tariff. The name for the toll collector was the turnpike, which later became the name for the road itself.
… you may know a pullicologist? If you do, you know a flea expert. (What does a flea flee from? Pullicologists, of course.)
… dreaming about chocolate may mean something? According to researchers, chocolate in a dream could mean that the dreamer feels the need to be rewarded for something, or deserves special treatment. It could also mean that the person having the dream has been indulging in too many excesses, and needs to practice restraint. (I dream about food a lot, but not so much chocolate. I guess I’m not in need of rewards?)
… the first man to set foot on the Moon made a deal with his grandmother that he might not do it? Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) was advised by his grandmother, Caroline Katter (1888-1970), before taking off in the Apollo 11 flight in 1969 to “look around and if the Moon doesn’t look good, don’t step onto it.” Armstrong said he would do just that. Apparently, the Moon looked good, because Armstrong did make the first steps onto the lunar surface. (I like Armstrong’s grandmother. Careful. Safe. My kind of gal.)
… the law in Bolivia mandates voting? In Bolivian elections, voters are given a card after they cast their ballots to prove participation. If the voter cannot show that card within three months after an election, the person cannot receive their salary from the bank. (Hmmm … do tell …)
… the first Miss America pageant was held in 1921? Margaret Gorman (1905-1995) was the winner. The first Miss America pageant on television was in 1954, when Lee Ann Meriwether (born 1935) was crowned. It was carried on ABC.
… Jurassic Park is probably not possible? Scientists say that DNA has a “half-life” of 521 years, meaning that the oldest possible samples from which an animal could be cloned would be about 2 million years old. Since the last of the dinosaurs died out about 65 million years ago, that pretty much rules out any return of the species through human scientific intervention. A “half-life” is the amount of time that it takes for half of a sample of a substance to deteriorate. In this example, half of the sample would deteriorate in 521 years, half of the remaining part in another 521 years, half of what’s left in another 521 years, and so on, until it’s all gone. (Movies are your best entertainment, in any event.)
“Armstrong allegedly did make the first steps onto the lunar surface.”
I did two whole opinion columns about the silly idea that the Moon landings were faked. They weren’t, and there’s no “alleged” about it. Hollywood technology to fake a trip convincingly didn’t exist in 1969, but the technology to actually do it did (barely, but it did).
C’mon, I saw a documentary! OJ was in it! OJ wouldn’t lie to us, would he?
Not at all, D … after all, he’s still out there searching golf courses for the “real killers,” isn’t he?
And one day, he’ll find them. You just gotta believe…
… the man who abolished slavery in the British Empire is remembered today for something else? Charles Grey (1764-1845), who served as Prime Minister from 1830 to 1834, was the head of the government that enacted the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. But today, he is remembered for a particular blend of tea – Earl Grey. (Or, to quote Star Trek’s Captain Picard, “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.”)
… the most money ever paid for a cow at auction was $1.3 million? Mist, a Vermont Holstein cow, was purchased by a group of investors in 1996 for that amount. The investors planned for Mist to become the matriarch of a dynasty of star milk producers. Five of her offspring have sold for a cool half-million bucks each. (Now that’s an a-moo-sing statistic!)
… one of the world’s worst dictators was also very short? You probably think I’m referring to Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) but I’m not. Napoleon was actually 5’7” tall – average in height for Frenchmen of his time. No, the dictator I refer to was Joseph Stalin (1878-1953), who stood only five feet four inches tall. (Can you say “overcompensating”? I knew you could.)
… Walt Disney hated one of his own cartoon creations? Disney (1901-1966) created all of the original characters in the world of Mickey Mouse, but the one he thoroughly disliked was Goofy. Privately, Disney thought the character was stupid, but he kept Goofy around as a way to save other workers’ livelihoods in the company. (So Goofy wasn’t as goofy as Disney may have thought.)
… some people really make you scratch your head in wonder? Consider, for instance, the case of six visitors to the Memphis Zoo in 1992. They each paid $2.50 to enter a dinosaur exhibition, only to angrily demand their money back – after finding out the exhibit did not have any live dinosaurs. (I’ll bet they thought Jurassic Park was real, too.)
… a famous actress and a radio talk host were involved in a dispute over a lobster? In 1996, actress Mary Tyler Moore (1936-2017) learned that a restaurant in Los Angeles had a 65-year-old lobster named “Spike.” Moore offered the restaurant $1,000 for Spike, planning to release it into the ocean. Moore’s offer was countered by one from radio talk host Rush Limbaugh (1951-2021), who offered the restaurant $2,000 to prepare the lobster for his dinner. The restaurant declined both offers and kept Spike as a mascot. (Which Spike was very happy about, I’m sure.)
Now … you know!
That lobster had spunk. I hate spunk.
Lighten up, Lou.
Dreaming of chocolate? Like this?

https://www.foxnews.com/media/west-point-naval-academy-next-battleground-affirmative-action-fight-unfair-and-unconstitutional
“The same student activist group that won its affirmative action case against Harvard and the University of North Carolina has signaled that it may sue some of the biggest military academies in the country for racial discrimination.”
“After Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) won a major victory Supreme Court victory in late June, the organization has announced it has a new target: elite military academies.”
“It is the hope of Students for Fair Admissions that the service academies will soon end the use of racial classifications and preferences in their admissions policies. Failure to do so, may result in polarizing litigation,” the group wrote in a statement.”
“Were you rejected from West Point? Or the Naval Academy or the Air Force Academy? It may be because you’re the wrong race,” the organization writes on its website, WestPointNotFair.org.”
“The group also claimed that West Point, the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy all use “an applicant’s race and ethnicity as a factor in admissions. That’s unfair and unconstitutional.”

“US Soldier North Korea: Travis King’s Family Says He Experienced Racism Before Running Across Border”
https://abc7chicago.com/travis-king-north-korea-soldier-us-news/13593353/
“In an exclusive interview with ABC News, the family of a missing U.S. Army private, who crossed into North Korea, is alleging he was experiencing racism prior to the incident.”
“It feels like I’m in a big nightmare,” said Claudine Gates, mother of Travis King.”
“Travis would not just go over the border like that. He’s the type of kid, he would’ve wanted to come home,” Gates said.”
“King’s family said his mental health had declined prior to his disappearance.”
“His uncle told ABC he was experiencing racism during his military deployment, and after he spent time in jail, he didn’t sound like himself.”
“I was like, ‘are you OK?’ and he’s telling me, ‘no, they’re trying to kill me.’ He was saying things like, said they’re racist. It made it seem like something was going on with him,” Myron Gates said.”
“His mother said she received a disturbing phone call in the middle of the night.”
“He said, ‘I’m not the Army soldier you want me to be, I’m not the Army soldier you want me to be,’ and he kept screaming that out loud, and then all the sudden the phone hung up, and then they were taking him to the hospital,” Claudine Gates said.”
Shitbirds come in all colors.
And, for lack of a better place to put it, thanks to you, too, SFC D, for your reply in the thread a day or two back about justice and the Trump charges.
Again, much like with KoB, there are things we agree on and things we don’t. At a fundamental level, my feeling is that we should still celebrate criminals -and yes, innocent until proven guilty- getting their due, even if others somehow escape justice.
Happy to continue the conversation some time, but just mostly wanted to say thanks for the reply. Again, it’s always good to hear different perspectives.
You’re very welcome, I’ve always enjoyed our conversations. We don’t always agree but civil discourse is what keeps life interesting. And even if we get less than civil, it ain’t personal.

https://www.foxnews.com/world/frustrated-lufthansa-pilot-flies-plane-in-15-mile-long-penis-pattern-after-being-diverted-to-different-airport
“A Lufthansa pilot reportedly flew a plane full of passengers in a flight pattern that resembled a penis on radar after being asked to divert the flight to a different airport.”
“The pilot of Lufthansa Flight 306, who has not been identified, is believed to have gotten frustrated after his flight from Frankfurt, Germany, was not able to land at the Fontanarossa Airport in Catania on the island of Sicily”
“Before doing so, the pilot is said to have flown the plane in a 15-mile pattern shaped like a penis which was seen on the flight tracking website Flight Radar 24.”
“In a statement to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Lufthansa blamed “wind shear” for the diverted flight and unusual flight pattern.”
“Pilots have faced discipline for similar flight incidents in recent years, including in 2019 when two U.S. Navy officers decided to create a phallic drawing, referred to as “Sky Penis,” in the clear blue skies across Washington state using the exhaust of their jet.”
“Last year, a KC-135 Stratotanker belonging to the U.S. Air Force was spotted on radar taking a flight path near a Russian air base in Syria that many online said looked like male genitalia.”
“While these adjustments and movements appear to create a vulgar outline, there was no intent by the pilots or the unit to do so,” a U.S. military spokersperson said in a statement at the time.”

Seems like a reasonable warning.
SFC D,
Said every New York City and Atlantic City mobster ever.
You know why.
To intimidate judges, prosecutors, witnesses, and jury pools.
Starting Monday at 5pm,
If he can’t keep his yap shut,
he’ll most certainly be facing contempt charges.
https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4138737-doj-prosecutors-request-protective-order-in-trump-election-case/
And if so, I predict the Supremes going 9-0 to reprimand the idiots for stifling uber protected speech.
We don’t get to ‘remake the rules’ based on ‘greater good’ing, loathing and fabricated illegalities.
Remember Joe Bribem got ‘extra protection’ from investigation because he was the presumptive nominee? (or at least so sayeth The House…)
If, then, if, then.
Again, my fear is that The Machine WILL continue to attack this illiberal son of a bitch thereby making him the outlet valve he claims to be.
These are dangerous times where everyfuckingone forgets the basic tenets of civility and runs headlong into the warm embrace of tribal fuckery.
Of course I am content to see the world burn as it’s input is greater than its output as of late.
Just keep your petty shit the fuck off my stoop, f&gs.
“Prepare.” –A wise man
Prepared…
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. I’m not a Trump fan boi. I’m 100% against the way our government is abusing its authority to hamstring the Trump campaign. There’s no quest for justice here, just straight up retribution and political machination. It’s about keeping Trump out of office, nothing more, nothing less. Meanwhile, back in the swamp, Pelosi feeds her husband insider information, Biden, Inc. sells politics access and favors, Hillary and Bill make millions through their “foundation”, Obama creates a character based on lies and continues lying for 8 years. But no, you have to get tunnel vision and target fixation on Trump. You’ve picked one turd out of a sea of shit and decided that turd is the one that has to go.
May I take it a step further, given what we know about universally offensive abuses against him and the contortions corrupt organs of neofeudal masters make in logic and principles to further cause injury to him, it has been said time and time and time and time… if The They can do that to a billionaire and President what chance do We the People have?
I don’t want to inhabit a world were the pursuit of justice is irreparably injurious to our principles.
We are at that juncture, and show no signs of hesitation.
SFC D,
I’d like to see him escape all this.
New York and (upcoming) Georgia, he likely will.
And any overreach with all this new indictment will play out in court motions, if not court itself.
That said, however,
complaining “Joe and Hillary did it, too”
is NOT a defense in court,
and does not justify the many months of active obstruction on the troves of classified documents that he refused to fork over,
and had to be seized.
This is the 1, the obstruction of the classified,
that is a case of shooting himself in the foot,
and then messing up the lives of others
to try to get himself off the hook.
As for the “truth” on Truth Social,
here’s what needs to happen by 5pm Monday.
https://www.mediaite.com/news/breaking-judge-orders-trump-response-to-jack-smith-amid-crossfire-over-trump-social-media-threat/
Read what I said. Carefully. I’ve said it many times. I’m not defending Trump by saying “Hillary did it too”. That’s juvenile and beneath you. You’re either being deliberately obtuse, you’re willfully ignoring my simple words, or I’m putting too much faith in your reading skills. I, and many others here, are attacking the one-sided “justice” system. Trump may or may not be guilty of everything claimed. But if you think this is a pursuit of justice or application of law, I can’t help you. Here’s a challenge. How many actual classified documents were in that “trove”? All those boxes and boxes we were shown, how many documents?

Marine Dad 61 is a Trump hater. He just tries to keep it on the down low. What did you expect from him? You might as well respond to the resident progs, LC and the commie cuttlefish.
rgr769,
You are wrong.
I was on the train for 5 years.
But after the December 2020 Pennsylvania fake elector plot, and the phony Pennsylvania voter numbers (205,000), that originated in my back yard, carried and amplified by PA types through December 2020
(and still by Trump in 2023),
I jumped off the train December 2020,
weeks BEFORE Jan 6.
I voted for him in 2016 AND 2020, and went to 3 rallies, getting in to 2.
But I will NOT be voting for him in the 2024 primary.
IMHO – I believe there is zero chance he can carry November 2024,
where someone else in the GOP,
almost anyone else in the current GOP stack, can beat whoever the Dems put up in 2024.
You still think this is about Trump. Expand your view. It’s about politically weaponized government agencies, the DOJ and FBI in particular. The IRS under Obama targeted conservative organizations. Trump is the target now. And by the way, you get that classified document count yet?
SFC D,
It’s NOT zero.
It’s dozens.
More than a dozen dozens.
Go ask thebesig.
See if he’s sticking with zero.
Go ask Pence.
He had some, too.
However,
he acknowledged his failure,
and quickly handed all of it back.
No BS,
no lies,
no dodging,
no delays, and
no obstruction.
[Trump held more than 300 classified documents after leaving White House: report]
https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3611686-trump-held-more-than-300-classified-documents-since-leaving-white-house-report/
37. He’s charged with possession of 37. Each and every document produced by the government has some sort of classification. “Unclassified” is a classification. 37, out of the troves of “classified documents”’, nearly all of that trove carried no more critical information than the daily White House press briefing. I’m not sure how many classified documents are in a trove, but 37 seems a wee bit small. And returning a classified document that you hold illegally is not a pardon. Why no prosecution for Pence? For Biden? Hillary removed classification markings and faxed documents to Houma’s maid. No prosecution. So tell me, why only Trump? Again, I’m not defending him. If he’s guilty, so be it. I’m against selective prosecution for political purposes. Why aren’t you?

SFC D,
I was all for nailing Hillary all along.
Back in 2016, the rally t-shirts, and the billboards. All of it.
Why and how she skated, is frustrating.
Wait for court.
You can count the number of documents, when they are laid out, and the numbers and generalities (but not the documents themselves) make the news.
He’s charged with 37. Everything else is just props for the DOJ political theater. Visual propaganda from the MSM. That’s an awful lot of boxes for 37 documents. But the American public says “holy shit, all those classified documents”!
SFC,
More accurately, he’s charged with lying, hiding, and obstructing, all to keep his hands on 37 after many months of refusing to fork them over.
You still need to ask why Pence, or even the Biden garage, aren’t charged?
“Woops, here they are, I give it all back” seems to work.
Then again, that wasn’t the plan, for someone who would rather crow in public “I’ve done nothing wrong”, and call it a “boxes hoax”.
That’s his undoing.
Self inflicted.
“Woops, here they are, I give it all back” seems to work.
And that’s good enough for you?
SFC D,
No.
I’d have gotten Leavenworth for doing or trying similar.
Wait for court.
I’m not involved. I’m just reading news like most, likely more than most.
But I know whatever he gets downgraded or tossed in a felony plea deal, he’s not skating out of this.
rgr769,
Remember,
Folks in Pennsylvania, who think and talk like you,
thought they could propel 1 of the fake elector proponents and spreaders of the 205,000 into the PA Governor’s mansion in 2022.
Instead, a humiliating defeat for Mastriano and his minions, ensuring 12 years of Democrats holding the Governor’s office for the 1st time in Pennsylvania history,
even more embarrassing,
since elected Republicans continue to hold BOTH the PA Assy and PA Senate.
Watch “2000 Mules” and get back to me.
rgr769,
I watched a few minutes awhile back, shortly after it came out, and a week later read the articles that debunked a majority if it.
Especially the Pennsylvania / Philadelphia portion, where minor shenanigans have gone on for over 100 years, and anything coming out of Philly or PA amounted to nothing more than the typical few votes and minor shenanigans.
Now, check this Google, and get back to me.
BTW, he retired, did not run for re-election in 2022.
He went from being a respected Marine veteran (with some PFA and domestic history), to going down in history as a fool.

Well, PA dis (s)elect fetterman, so they aren’t exactly the brightest bulbs in the pack.
Odie,
Yep.
It’s a 50/50 state, for decades, and PA now looks like one of the worst states for picking lunkheads.
Then again, the part some here don’t want to see or believe… is that Trump endorsements and rallies swung the GOP primary, from a businessman, to celebrity Dr. Oz, who got trounced by an incompetent Lt. Governor (Fetterman).
And for Governor, also endorsed by Trump, Mastriano did worse than Oz.
I don’t know what to say about all this. From Oba being a closeted homosexual and antisemitic to well, just take a gander.

Pretty much everything most people suspected all along. He’s a complete fabrication.
Happy 233rd birthday, U.S. Coast Guard!
Today, Aug 4th 2023, the CoastGuard celebrates its members and their honorable contributions, past and present, to serving our Nation for 233 years.
Been kinda busy with family, but I’ll still declare myself Present and award myself another Honorary First.
((((OVER))))
Bwahahahaha!
