A man tracked down his stolen truck in Texas Thursday and confronted the alleged car thief, who was killed in an ensuing gunfight with the car owner, police said. The Ford truck’s owner and a woman with the suspect were also wounded in the shootout at the South Park Mall parking lot in San Antonio, authorities said.
The truck’s owner spotted his stolen vehicle a short distance from where he had left it, police said.
He came up to his truck and, at gunpoint, ordered a man behind the wheel and a woman in the passenger seat outside, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters.
The man and woman were seated on the ground, being held at gunpoint, when police were called, McManus said.
Then about two minutes after that call but before officers arrived, the suspect pulled his own gun and shot the Ford’s owner prompting him to return fire, killing the alleged car thief, McManus added.
The woman with the suspect was critically wounded in the shooting.

Because he hates cops he decides to put an innocent man in danger, and for all that bluster and bullshit he gets to take the asphalt temperature challenge.
What a maroon.
Regarding the video. The dude gang banging on the stores lights really demonstrates the term F A F O. How did he miss seeing the 2 patrol cars and all their flashy lights on the other side of the parking lot???
If Imma counting this correctly, and the dude in the video was in fact no longer breathing, we have us a trifecta of DRTs this morning. Along with a WRT, a real nice rib tickler, and a re-emphasis on what that North Wall needs.
Life is good!
I hope the bullets hitting the Charger didn’t damage anything operational. Be a nice street cred car, “yeah. these holes were from when I chased and shot the asshole that stole mah car”
Not sure ’bout San Antone, but the vehicle recovery rate in Harris County is pretty close to zero.
When the legal system won’t do its job, folks tend to do it themselves.
With the advent of tracking devices on newer cars and the fact that in Texas your car is an extension of your home and you have the right defend it in the same manner as you would your home in a castle doctrine state. I think that car thieves in Texas are going to be sporting extra holes a lot more often in the near future.
Microtech knives, like the depicted Ultratech out-the-front, can be quite pricey. Many of the models sell for more that $400. But those clever Chinese have copied them right down to the fake packaging. They are called “clones.” They look identical to the various Microtech models and have the same logos and markings. These clones sell for around $100. In some states, if you get caught by the popo with one in your pocket, you could be charged with a felony.
