Columbia man caught in the act: Armed homeowner confronts burglar during attempted car theft
by Nicolas Fuchs
A Columbia man was charged with burglary and theft of a motor vehicle among other charges.According to court documents, at 2:55 am on Thursday, Boone County deputies responded to a call at a residence where a woman said a man was trying to break in through her front door.
Deputies said the woman told them the man walked away before they got there, but they said Boone County Joint Communications told them a 911 call came from a woman two houses down who said the man was in her garage.
They said when they arrived the woman’s husband had Ted Benoit, 26, at gunpoint on the floor of the garage.
Benoit had a loaded handgun in his waistband, deputies said, with the safety off and a round in the chamber.

Mr. Benoit was bad news looking for a place to happen. He chose poorly. Thanks again for the link, Gun Bunny.

Love my Navy Colt. Sweet little piece of nostalgia – and at twilight on the shooting range will be certain to garner some appreciative comments.
The Colombia perp is lucky to only be in jail.
Spot on, Graybeard! Yes, yes, yes, and yes! I’ll add to that, “…accurate as all hell.” It’s just too bad they don’t float. Sam Griswold used his friendship with Sam Colt to copy the Navy Colt into the much sought after and vaunted Griswold Revolver. 3600 some odd were manufactured at his plant in Georgia, using donated church bells to make the brass frames.
Somehow or another I don’t think that our stalwart citizen featured today is related to the Boston Benoit’s, one of which I served with back yonder. No resemblance at all between this turd and my Compatriot “Frenchy”.
Looks like I found a prime candidate to handle my copy of the .45 Colt I picked last week. Those “breast works” could certainly shore up the North Wall. “She was a black haired beauty…” MERCY! LAWD HAB MERCY!
“…among other charges.”
Would one of those charges be attempting to imitate Swiss cheese?
Mr Benoit had best be thankful that Mr Husband didn’t ventilate him.
Sister Brunette with the pair of six shooters.
Oh, and she has a pair of guns in her hands, too.
Admire. Appreciate. Gaze fondly on. Wish.
But at a distance…….
Gotta appreciate a gal who well-displays a pair of 38s…

I have an issue with the article there with misidentifying the perpetrator. The article alleges that the perp is a “man”. I think it would be far more accurate if they used proper terminology like douchebag or scumbag, not “man”.
Ot, I’m pleased and surprised when they get the “victim” and “suspect” parts right. Pretty sure Gun Bunny is too.
*grin*
The English teacher in me wants to assign “journalists” a lot of vocabulary work: definitions, etymology, synonyms, antonyms, nuances of usage by context and time….
And that’s just to start. Composition, understanding context and meaning….
::sigh::
Not to mention correct spelling!
The resolution on that fine… example could be higher, for research proposes of course!

Gun dealers deny skirting Connecticut’s ghost gun ban in response to attorney general’s lawsuit[?]
This should prob be in SPotW but I have a feelz good that AG Tong is going to get his shit pushed over innocuous pieces over plastic or aluminum.
I’m glad that in the midst of rabid judges and DAs allowing the plea down of violent crimes by dangerous people the AG is busy ‘hunting snipe’.
Best of luck to him!
We sell Uberti 1851 reproductions up here, but I’d like to get an original cartridge gun to round out my late-’90s (1890s, that is) gun collection. Maybe if I stick around long enough our used gun guy will stumble on a “rust bucket” original Colt 1873. I went with him months ago for a large gun appraisal and buy. Our regional used gun manager is supposedly a big Winchester fan, but when he received pictures of the 1892 in .38 WCF, he replied that it’s a rust bucket, so we paid about $100 for it. As soon as we could sell it, I gladly paid $200 for it, and $500 for an original 1897 riot gun, as well as $350 for an M1 Carbine with a ’60s-era Owen stock.
Burglars hold a special place in my heart after I was victimized ten years ago. If you’re in need, ask, and if I have something to offer, I’ll gladly give it. Venturing onto my property to steal the possessions I worked hard to get is cowardly, and stepping foot on my property with a loaded firearm and ill intent will probably be one of the poorer choices you made in life.
Dumb sh*t of the day… Germany commits to “green”-driven poverty and economic collapse in order to show how “climate” virtuous it is! (Folk won’t be so enthusiastic about such again after this.)

TTAG has a good spread of cops doing cop stuff. Unfortunately a couple of our LEOs catch lead but upside, tally all targets.
Crims best find a new line of work or get the sort end of the Glock!

Over ten years of cowboy action shootin’ and none of our gal shooters ever looked like that.
Good way to pick up a brand or three from one’s 73 brass.
