Man charged after fatally shooting suspect who allegedly tried to rob him in Queens: Police
A man in Queens has been charged after he shot and killed another person who was allegedly trying to rob him, police reported.
Officials say the shooting happened in a driveway on 82nd Avenue in Kew Gardens at around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
The 32-year-old was armed with a sharp object and attempted to rob a 65-year-old of money and cigarettes, authorities said.
The 65-year-old, identified as Charles Foehner, pulled a sliver handgun and shot him as many as five times.
In surveillance video viewed by Eyewitness News, the assailant confronts Foehner from 40 feet. Foehner waves him off, raising his left hand, but the assailant continues to approach aggressively. With that, Foehner draws his gun from 20 feet. When the assailant waves an object and lunges, Foehner fires from 8 feet.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and a pen was discovered in his right hand.

CCL holder shoots man during fight, accidently injures himself in the Loop
CHICAGO – A man accidently shot himself before shooting another during a fight in the Loop Wednesday night.
Police say a 31-year-old CCL holder was in a fight with another man around 10 p.m. when he pulled his handgun and accidently shot himself in the right leg. He then shot at the offender.
The incident happened in the first block of West Van Buren Street.
The victim self transported to Loretto Hospital in good condition.
The offender, 30, was shot in the right hand and transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

The Queens man had no permit for the gun and when his apartment was raided by police they found an “arsenal” of more than thirty firearms and ammunition. Possibly a Bible as well. The other guns were not known to have shot anyone but are being questioned.

I’m getting two conflicts here on the Queens story.
From the article itself…
First: “The 65-year-old was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, according to a spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney’s Office.”
Second: “Sources say he has an active NYPD firearms permit.”
So which is it?
Or is the Queens DA pissed because a mere citizen deigned to do the job that the law wasn’t doing (“The 32-year-old had many prior arrests for robbery, burglary, drug possession, and other related charges.“) and took out the trash himself?
If this guy isn’t a convicted felon I don’t see how he could be charged with criminal possession of a weapon. I don’t care how many guns the man has, if you have TWO the libs will say you have an ARSENAL. And according to the way that report read, he responded in a legal manner to the threat. And he, being an older man, may not be under the strict requirement to retreat, since he IS older and may not be able to retreat in safety.
