Police: two men detained after alleged home invasion, shooting
Two people have been detained, police say, after an alleged home invasion and shooting occurred in Logan on Saturday morning.Around 2:20 a.m., according to Logan City Police Department Lt. Brad Franke, 911 calls reported three individuals had entered a home and shots had been fired by a homeowner. Franke said first responders found one male in the driveway of the home with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The man was transported to a local hospital and later transferred out of the valley for treatment. Franke said the man’s injuries were serious, but didn’t appear to be life threatening.
The man had been shot with a handgun that was later recovered by police, Franke said.

No, the victim was being robbed and defended himself. Thanks again, Gun Bunny.

Gun Bunny is going to have ever loving conniption fits from that fugly gun.
Tox, you know me much too well, My Brother. I even had a “heads up” from our Beloved AW1Ed that I knew didn’t bode well for today’s gun pr0n. “…the Good Idea Fairy meets Larry Lightbulb.” Steeled myself with a bracing cup of Irish Coffee, doubled up on BP Meds, and put on my welder’s goggles. Didn’t help that much. At least I didn’t throw this lap top at the wall and run screaming from the couch, so there is that. My Taurus .38SP Snubby weeps. IMHO, that “Curve” is one of the fuglyest of the fugly.
Wrong house, mofo. Lot of “poor victim selection skilz” lessons being learned of late.
Wanna be robber shoulda went inside the Church to meet Jesus…instead of meeting Him on wannabe robber’s way to Hell.
What’s even worse, George, is we now have groups of large stupid people.
Granted, with the slide locked back it looks horrible – as does almost any handgun. With the slide in battery it is merely ugly, like an LCP or P3AT.
I have fired one. The grip seems designed for aliens.
On meth.
It looks like a cigarette lighter.
Just a point of info here. If a firearm is used in a self defense or other lawful activity it is still going to be confiscated by the investigating agency until the case is closed and no further use by courts / prosecution. No matter if it was lawful or not it is still evidence in a criminal investigation.
Being a tool used to defend yourself and very well could be justified until all the potential criminal court activities are all done it won’t be returned.
Lastly even if returned, evidence and storage capabilities of the agency may not be good for the weapon’s condition. One of the points made by some self defense training schools is that you may not get it back or if you do it may not be in good shape if you do. It did it’s job if you are still here and the other guy isn’t though.
This is why (if financially able) you have purchased pistol spares and backups….just in case, ya’know.
Q: if your gun was used in a self defense situation, and taken as evidence by the po-po, and NOT returned…..can you file with the appropriate authoritahs for financial reimbursement for the cost of the gun?
It depends upon the jurisdiction, Prez.
I had a friend & coworker who had his FFL back in the 1980’s, and therefore had some full-auto in his collection.
He was of Mexican heritage (although born a US citizen) with a Hispanic name. His wife, however, was Colombian.
The Feds frequently checked on him, because of the possibility of him purchasing firearms for the Colombian drug lords. It was a nuisance, but he understood that.
Then one time he and his wife took a trip to the Valley region. He was stopped by some local LEO agency, and they confiscated his M16.
He went through the legal channels to get it back and did, but they’d burned the barrel out playing with it.
He sued, and won, and that police department had to buy him a brand new M16.
So, it has happened. Whether it could happen today is another question.
And hope the prosecutor isn’t woke and the state doesn’t have a red flag law. Otherwise, you may find yourself defenseless.
