Dad with machete protects family after man breaks into kid’s room, Oklahoma cops say

A family sleeping in the middle of the night was awoken when a man trying to hide from police picked their house to break into, authorities in Oklahoma said.The man had broke out a window of a child’s bedroom, then forced his way into the room, according to a news release from the Tulsa Police Department.
Officers with the department were called to the home at about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28. Meanwhile, police said the homeowner was trying to get his kids and wife to safety.
The father got his family out of the home, but the man began throwing items and destroying the home, according to the release.
“At one point, the homeowner grabbed a machete and struck (the man) with it,” police said, leading the man to barricade himself in a bedroom.
Officers arrived to find children screaming in the home’s front yard, police said. Family members pointed the officers to the home, where the dad and suspect were inside.

Suspect shot in Ashburn officer-involved shooting dies from injuries

The suspect involved in a Wednesday afternoon officer-involved shooting in Ashburn died from their injuries from the shooting, according to officials.The shooting happened in one location, and an officer was injured in a wreck in a separate location, according to Ashburn Police Chief Richard Purvis. The shooting incident happened on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, in a residential neighborhood near a daycare.
Police said they tried to pull over Daniel Ramone Scott, 25 because he was a burglary suspect. Purvis said while attempting to drive away, Scott t-boned an officer’s vehicle after police formed a blockade. An officer was injured but is okay.
Police said Scott was eventually handcuffed and in custody but still managed to get control of a police vehicle, which is when he was shot.

A Florida man charged with murder in connection with a December 2022 shooting reportedly made a music video seemingly bragging about the incident, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.Sheriff Grady Judd announced Thursday 19-year-old La’Darion Chandler, of Lakeland, is in jail on multiple charges after he allegedly shot 33-year-old John McGee in the back following an argument in the Secret Cove subdivision. Judd said the two men were known gang members and were rivals.
FOX 13 Tampa Bay reported McGee, who was expected to recover, died Jan. 9 after he refused to take the medicine doctors told him he needed to heal.
