Hack will claim first comment on the Christmas Open Thread, too.
And a happy NEW YEAR!
Um, do Democrats know “schwanz” = d*ck in German?
Hack Stone attended the annual Christmas Eve festivities at All Points Logistics last evening. Unfortunately, a band of rogue veterans took over the and threatened to release documents that indicate that Phil Monkress was not a US Navy SEAL, unless they were given expired copies of Red Hat Software. Fortunately for Phil, Jared Stern was in attends to disrupt the evil afoot, and he had Thomas Turd Bolling of Ambassador Worldwide Protection Agency to assist. Yippie Yay Kai, Motorboater.
In honor of the holiday (and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone at This Ain’t Hell!), I offer a repeat of the special Christmas-themed mini-column I did in 2018. Call it the coal in your stocking.
Did you know …
… “Jingle Bells” is not a Christmas song? It was written in 1857 for the composer’s Sunday School class to celebrate Thanksgiving. (Lots of snow at Thanksgiving, too, eh?)
… a scientist studying Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer says he has a red nose because of an infection? (You would even say it … achoo!!)
… in the Netherlands, Santa Claus does not come from the North Pole? Sinterklaas (their version of Santa) actually comes from Spain. (Ole!)
… finding a spider or spider’s web on Christmas is considered good luck in Germany, Poland, and Ukraine? Legend has it that a spider wove a blanket for baby Jesus. (Here in the United States, finding a spider means call the exterminator.)
… scientists have determined that the only way Santa can deliver all his gifts in one night is for him to be a time traveler? (Most kids had that figured out a long time ago. And why are scientists sitting around worrying about Santa, anyway?)
… two weeks before Christmas is one of the most popular times for couples to break up? (Uh-oh…)
… a traditional Armenian Christmas meal consists of fried fish, lettuce, and spinach? Armenians fast for a week before Christmas Eve, so the first meal afterward has to be pretty light. (I don’t mind spinach, but every time I eat it, I get this overwhelming desire to go and beat up Bluto.)
Break up two weeks before Christmas in order to avoid buying a gift, then hook back up 12/28 or so to have a date for New Year’s, break up again about 1/30 to avoid buying Valentine’s Day gift.
Holiday joy requires careful planning.
You have to break up early in January, otherwise you are on the hook to buy her a Martin Luther King Day gift.
A few years ago, ol’ Poe read a very interesting article about the origin of the MLK holiday. The campaign to influence congress was largely (and very quietly) financed by the snow-skiing industry so as to provide them with an additional long weekend during the prime snowfall season.
Supposedly it worked as that reportedly is one of America’s busiest skiing weekends. Betcha a lot of congress critters got themselves a bunch of free ski resort stays.
Merry Christmas from the Poe’s to the community of TAH deplorables!
Merry Christmas Poe
… people in Japan traditionally eat Kentucky Fried Chicken for Christmas dinner? Though there are almost no Christians in Japan, grownups and kids head to KFC every Christmas to enjoy fried chicken. It’s so popular there that orders for a chicken dinner at Christmas must be placed months in advance. (Finger lickin’ good, ho-ho-ho!)
… “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” was originally a threat? The song was originally sung by rowdy, lower-class servants demanding booze from their masters, or else. That’s where the line “We won’t go until we get some” comes from.
Now … you know!

“Lots of snow”
That is at the end of what is now called the little ice age.

Merry Christmas everyone
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the TAH denizens and their families. 🎅
Merry Christmas to all of you and your families. May the coming year be good to us.
Hope everyone locked up their awards last night.
The False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress (CEO of All-Points Logistics) might come down your chimney and steal your honor and valor.
Be wary of False Santas.
False Santas
Satans Fleas
A Merry Christmas to all of the miscreanted d’weeded dog faced pony soldiers of TAH. Go Fleece Navy Dads. A special shout out to the Adorable Deplorables, the ones that bring us the most joy. If Santa didn’t bring you what you wanted, let me know…I’ll have a little “chat” with him…and get you what you wanted.
I remember Christmases Past doing that “Eternal Vigilance” thing. Let’s not forget those that are doing it now.
Happy Birthday to that Former Jewish Carpenter.
KoB, you wrote:

THANK YOU for your comment.👍👍

Merry Christmas to our favorite Reb!

🎄😉😎👌👏
A MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you fellow “deplorables”!
I once again award myself Honorary First.
((((OVER))))
Yet, again, Hack Stone is in the doghouse as to (see what he did there?) with his lovely bride Rosetta Stone. Hit up the 10:00 Christmas Mass, and as it ended, the Priest wanted everyone to join in with singing Joy To The World. So Hack belted out “Jeremiah was a bullfrog…”, and you know the rest of the story.
Found Jeremiah in the back of an A.A. meeting in 84, he’s sober and you can now understand every word he says now…Joy to the World, just not those within earshot of Jeremiah, he never stops talking.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you.
Merry Christmas to all you deplorables.
The GB Clan had a wonderful and chaotic celebration last night (10 grandkids in one livingroom? – you know it was chaotic!)
Mrs. GB and I are nibbling on the leftover goodies (more Corsicanna Fruit Cake! those who hate fruitcake have never eating a Corsicanna fruitcake – or are commies.)
God bless you all, and grant us all a happy and blessed New Year.
Graybeard:
Merry Christmas to you and Mrs. Graybeard and the Graybeard Clan!
Speaking of fruitcakes..
IMHO, Claxton, GA makes the BEST Fruitcake…
https://www.claxtonfruitcake.com/
We eat/nibble on their fruitcake every year for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day…
😋
I remember someone sending us those while I was deployed to A-stan. Couldn’t have booze, so I indulged in one or two of them!
We sent some to Airborne Son while he was deployed as well. His squad really loved them.
Hmm, gonna have to do a taste test at some point to see.
The thing is the Collins Street Bakery https://collinstreet.com has Texas pecans for theirs, so y’know they have a natural advantage.
When Airborne Son as in Djibouti, we had them ship him a couple of their fruitcakes, which he and his squad then divided and re-wrapped to supplement their MREs as high-energy food.
And a lot more tasty.
Also a fan. It pairs nicely with Irish Whiskey.
Well, if you think about it…
Well, if you think about it…
😉😎
Pretty clever now that you think about it…
😉😎
I AM SO going to copycat that one day!
Makes sense to us!
😉😎
Does anyone else besides the ninja family see something not right about this Dude’s obituary?
Something tells me his family may be very ignorant about what happened during the Viet Of The Nam conflict.
Sadly, we suspect the deceased told tall tales to his family…and went to his grave with those tales.
The deceased was born 22 September 1955. According to his obit:
“David served in the Special Forces during the Vietnam Conflict and was involved in rescuing over 80 POW’s.”
https://www.wilkersonfuneral.com/obituaries/david-andrew-fettig
Am wondering if his family or whoever wrote his obit was talking about this:
“This Day In History: American Special Forces Attempt to Rescue POWs in North Vietnam”
https://historycollection.com/day-history-american-special-forces-attempt-rescue-pows-north-vietnam/
If so, the deceased was a very special SF Soldier considering the rescue efforts took place in 1970, when the deceased was about 14-15 years old.
🙄🫣
Moreover, there were no Special Forces operations which rescued any American POW’s, let alone 80 of them. Maj. John Plaster’s excellent book, “SOG, The Secret Wars of America’s Commandos in Vietnam” chronicles the code name Bright Light operations in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam. There was no raid of an enemy POW camp which rescued any American POW. However, there were many operations that rescued our downed pilots before they were captured, and a few instances where we recovered escaped POW’s.
PS: Ninja, thanks for this gift to us valor thief hunters, reminding us why we visit here daily.
rgr769:
You are so welcome, rgr769!
Yep, you are so right…That is why we visit TAH whenever we can to see if there are any bogus troopers still roaming Mother Earth!
😉😎
WOW a cream-of-the-crop MEAL Team 6 Buffet Assault Commando! I wonder how many Buffet Restaurants he put out of business?
Every one he visited!
Is that little Ed from 90-day Fiance?
rgr769:
Thank You so much for the additional information…!
Really appreciate your feedback and expertise on the topic.
We are still doing some background research on the deceased to see if he was ever in the Military…so far, it looks as if he got married right after graduating from High School around 1974 (but not to the widow).
Yep…Dude was a very special SF Soldier..most likely with a GI Joe Doll from the early 1970s…
Thank You, again..and Merry Christmas!
Look closely all you Deplorables!!
That’s GI Joe with the patented Kung Fu Grip®™. / s
Yes. And with that beard, longish hair, sterile uniform and foreign SMG, he is definitely Army Special Forces. He was likely recently HALO dropped into a super-secret UW op.
I shaved mine so he didn’t have a beard like the old days.
I should add there were some POW’s rescued from a POW camp, they were ARVN’s.
NAW, you don’t say, yet another tall tale of Stolen Valor? Yet another piece of proof how right “The Hair®™” aka Don Shipley was when he said “A lot of these Guys will take their lies with them all the way to the grave.”
API:
You NAILED it about folks taking their lies all the way to the grave!
What is so sad is those liars/embellishers end up hurting their families and their love ones because of their deceit.
Merry Christmas, API!
🎄😉😎
Does that dude’s collar brass say ROTC?
Yes. And it’s not from Kent State, Berzerkley or some other ultra-liberal pit, so I ain’t impressed much.
That dude bought everything the PX and the flea market had in stock. 🙄
Now, now, now, ninja, hold on just a minute. Surely you know that this dood was aide-de-camp- to Colonels Sanford Felter and Craig Lowell when these Gentlemen led the Green Bay- Rhetts POW rescue at the Hanoi Hilton by crashing a Jolly Green Giant whirlybird in the midst of the camp, disgorging the Warriors that busted the POWs out? Colonel Felter stayed on the carrier while Lowell and LTC MacMillian led the ground assault, gunships were in overwatch. Poor Mac, died of a heart attack at the very end of the fight, but only after using the newly developed and super seekrit TOW missiles to take out 4 of the NVA Tanks that were coming in fast. Only way for a MoH earner to die. Ol’ Dave held Mac in his arms and then packed his body out to the rescue birds.
All of this was documented by WEB Griffin in Vol 7 “Brotherhood of War”, The Generals.
The King of Battle once again NAILED IT!
Spot On!
😆🤣😅😂
Love WEB Griffin’s “Brotherhood of War” series..still go back time to time to reread his books.
Am pretty sure in one of his books, he wrote about a Female Infantry Officer (Platoon Leader? 2LT?)..
Will have to go thru the series to see if the writer was WEB Griffin.
BTW..One more week…Dawgs are gonna be Number 1…AGAIN!
Merry Christmas To Our Favorite Reb!
Saa Loot to the TAH’s BESTEST ninja! Red Velvet with Butter Cream Icing makes a nice Former Carpenter’s Birthday Cake, don’t you think? (tho some scholars are of the opinion that He was actually born in the Spring)
I enjoyed Bill’s books, he did strive for a semblance of historical accuracy and many of his characters were based on Warriors that he knew. I was honored to meet him, briefly, many years ago. All around nice guy. Had many of his tomes that I donated to the Vet’s Home a coupla years ago.
Since my trip further South was delayed by the weather, I may be able to watch our Beloved Dawgs roast some Buckeyes at my favorite Dawg Pound Graduate’s home. Haven’t quite gotten permission to drive down by myself but I’m working on it. Anybody want a free ride to Florida?
Haven’t heard from him recently. Is the Woke Left done with him already?
In time for Shwanza… “schwanz” = dick in German.
Merry Christmas to everyone. The good thing about having adult/teen kids? They clean up the wrapping mess now.
Yes they do.
However, Mrs. GB goes through the wrapping paper mess to ensure a younger grandchild hasn’t put something that is not supposed to be discarded in there.
Occasionally something treasured (new or old) has ended up in there.
For all y’all… A handy insult generator for dealing with fakers and trolls (if usual means ain’t available, of course):
Condensed version of the Vaunted TAH As(s)teroid of Insults?
Pretty much… in case the As(s)teroid’s gone NMC.
The combos you can assemble are almost limitless.
A small Christmas gift,
for all the readers and fans of VG/TAH
who frown on those who pin on extra medals and ribbons.
Merry Christmas !!!
Wow, almost two full rows of ribbons in less than a year. It took me almost six years to assemble two rows, with fifteen months of combat as a captain. No wonder we have corporals with more ribbons than a French brigadier with 20 years of service. Back in my day, the Army only had the vaunted NDSM and two “I was there” medals.
His missing AAM is probably a “Good job, troop!” impact award that didn’t get iPERM-ed properly. (He’d lie about that, but actually have an ARCOM?)
Anonymous & rgr769,
After his tour in Afghanistan, at 1 year 9 months,
for a posed photo for The Washington Post,
he wore 2 ACM & 1 AAM.
He wore the same 2 ACM & 1 AAM
on his 2020 Congressional campaign trail civvy mini medals.
His 2020-2022 shadow box,
on his podcasting “wall shrine to himself”,
somehow now has 3 ACM & 2 AAM,
+ 1 new Army Overseas Service ribbon.
Of the above,
the U.S. Army 2022 email verifies ONLY 1 ACM.
The other 5 are not listed.
NOTE – His Purple Heart is legit,
even though his commander in Afghanistan turned it down,
and he got it 1 year later in Colorado.
No one questions the PH.
But he’s not the Rambo he appears to be
in his Go Pro YouTube video (now at 46 million views)
and claims to be ever since 2020.
ICYMI, here’s the shadow box pic.
Okay, now that’s lying douchery.
I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need. All I want for Christmas is you TAH folks… in a non-gay type of way. What more can I do?
My 2 grandsons (23 months, 11 months) meet Gunny Claus.
Later this week,
I will see and hold my newest grandson for the 1st time.
Merry Christmas!
🙂
My oldest Granddaughter killed her 1st deer, a 3 point, about 30 minutes ago. Used her mom’s .243. 😎
RLTW!…and teach…their children well…
BZ Young Warrior, Grilled backstrap for supper?
Also great for breakfast with eggs, white gravy, and biscuits.
Congratulations to your granddaughter!
