Miami-Dade Officer Arrested on DUI Charges in Marked Police Car in Hollywood

A Miami-Dade Police officer was in his marked car when he was arrested on DUI charges in Hollywood, officials said.

Leopold Louis, 42, was arrested Sunday on charges including DUI and DUI with property damage, Broward County jail records showed.

Louis appeared in court Monday where a judge granted him a $1,000 bond. He later bonded out of jail but didn’t speak with reporters.

In a statement, Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez said was in a marked police car at the time of the arrest.

“This officer placed the public in danger in the same vehicle that the community has entrusted as a symbol of protection. I will not tolerate any representative of the Miami-Dade Police Department to jeopardize the community’s trust,” Ramirez’s statement read. “We will allow the Hollywood Police Department to conduct their investigation with complete transparency and have complete faith in the judicial process.”

According to an arrest report, police had responded to a call of a drunk driver on Pierce Street near U.S. 1.

The report said officers found Louis, who had been involved in a hit-and-run just before being approached by the officer.

Louis was hardly able to stand, stumbled through a field sobriety test, then blew a blood alcohol level well over Florida’s legal limit, the report said.

“He did not realize he was involved in an accident,” the report read. “The arrestee continued to state his friend, in the marked unit was waiting on him. The marked Miami-Dade Police unit in the area was his.”

Officials said Louis, who has been with the department since July 2017, was relieved of duty with pay.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer charged with DWI while in marked police car

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was arrested after being accused of driving while intoxicated while in a marked car.

Peter Lombardo was arrested early Wednesday morning, according to CMPD. He was found by another CMPD officer while parked on a grassy area off Interstate 277 near 12th Street.

Lombardo, who was hired by the department in 2008, was not working at the time and was dressed in plain clothes, but was driving a take-home, marked car, according to CMPD.

He was given a breathalyzer test and blew a .17, officers say.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated and placed on unpaid leave. Lombardo was also cited for termination, according to officers.

Chief of Police Johnny Jennings released the following statement:

“This officer endangered the public in the same vehicle that our community entrusted us to serve and protect in. It is a symbol of trust. I will not tolerate any representative of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department who jeopardizes the community’s trust in what we do every day and the standards we are sworn to uphold. We will allow Internal Affairs to conduct its thorough investigation, and I have complete faith that the outcome of this situation will be just.”

‘Bad idea, Brad’: Florida man accused of stealing from Walmart full of deputies

A Florida man got into trouble with the law after he allegedly tried to make off with stolen goods from a Walmart full of law enforcement, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook that the would-be thief, only identified as “Brad,” tried to steal from a Walmart in St. Cloud.

Thing is, Brad decided to conduct his botched heist at the same time the Walmart was holding a Shop With a Cop event — where deputies were spending time with some local children, according to the Facebook post.

“The store was full of deputies, almost 40, beside the forensics team, the community services team, the CSOs, the OCSO Majors, and Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez.,” the post said. “Bad idea, Brad.”

“I don’t always drink and drive; but when I do, I take my marked police car so I won’t get pulled over.”

Two cops walking the plank to the end of their carrers.

The man thought he could outrun the cops but he could not out run his fate.

Wrong place, wrong time.

Unless and until we can recruit cops from the ranks of angels there will continue to be the occasional failure. Unfortunately, people can be fallible.

Carjacking 101 – don’t put your gun down where the victim can grab it and cap you. Nucklehead.
