Stolen flag returned to WWII vet

| August 9, 2009

I guess this is one of those things that only happens in Middle America; from the Billings Gazette;

A U.S. Marine Corps flag stolen from an 83-year-old veteran who fought his way across numerous islands in the South Pacific during World War II was returned Saturday morning.

The flag taken from Bob McGray’s front yard last week showed up in a bag hanging from his mailbox with an anonymous note apologizing for the theft and expressing gratitude for McGray’s service to his country.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am,” McGray said. “I’d like to meet the guy who brought it back. I have no animosity toward him.”

“We cannot emphasize enough the gratitude that we feel for the service that you have performed for our country,” the unsigned note said. “I personally made sure that your flag has not touched the ground.”

I would like to think that some smart-assed teen ager’s ass is ablaze from the beating he took from his father who discovered the theft.

COB, that’s exactly what I was thinking, and it sounds like the dad was a vet, to boot.
OOOO-Rah MR. McGray.

yeah, me too… I was thinking that I’d be happy to be charged with assault for beating the sh!t out of whomever stole this flag, even if it was my on son. Fortunately, my own son is deployed overseas, and would also have been sharing a cell with me had he found the person who took this flag.

Now, I could get into teenage asses being ablaze. Cause my 16yo needs an attitude adjustment before he ends up like the IVAW BF’s.

Any takers?
