Man shot by Holmdel cop on Route 35 after stealing, crashing two vehicles: source

A police officer shot a man who stole two vehicles early Wednesday, crashing the first and then the second, before authorities caught up with him on Route 35 in the township, a law enforcement source said.The shooting was later confirmed by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. The person shot was identified as Justin Chacon, 33, who has addresses in Brooklyn and Old Bridge. The incident took place about 6:15 a.m. near the intersection at Centerville Road, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The officer who shot Chacon is a member of the Holmdel Police Department, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
The officer shot the man in the hip, the law enforcement source told the Asbury Park Press. The man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
One officer was injured in the effort to take the man down, said the source, who provided the information anonymously since the individual was not authorized to release details about the incident.

MAN TAKES AXE TO HVAC SYSTEM IN SEABROOK, NEW HAMPSHIRE, BASEMENT

A man allegedly used an axe to damage the HVAC system in the basement of a Seabrook home Tuesday night.The owner of a home on Hooksett Street called Seabrook Poice when he heard banging noises coming from his basement around 10:30 p.m. Officers sent K-9 Henry, who encountered Joshua Pelletier, 31, of Kittery, holding an axe.
Pellletier refused orders to drop the axe, but officers and K-9 Henry were eventually able to convince him to comply. He was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal trespassing. He was held overnight at the Rockingham County Jail and scheduled for arraignment Wednesday.
Police did not disclose a motive for Pelletier’s behavior.
