List of 195 veterans running for Congress this year

| October 18, 2022

More vets are running this year than they have since 2012. Military Times has the list;

More than one-third of all congressional races on the ballot this November will feature a veteran, and several could help decide which party wins control of the House and Senate next year.

The 196 veterans who have won major-party primaries represent the largest group of candidates with military experience in a decade. It includes 130 non-incumbents trying to increase the total number of veterans in Congress next year.

The field also features:

  • 17 women veterans running for office;
  • 58 veterans who enlisted after Jan. 1, 2000;
  • 95 veterans with a combat deployment;
  • 90 veterans who served in the Army (the most from any service);
  • 16 races featuring two veterans against each other;
  • 43 states with at least one veteran on the ballot for national office;

At the source is the full list. It looks like the ratio of GOP to DNC is 2:1 in favor of the Republicans. There are no veterans of WWII or Korea running, and only eight Vietnam Veterans in contention (4 Democrats and 4 Republicans).

Have all these vets been vetted? You cannot assume that everyone is 100% truthful. Any guess on the level of bullshit these candidates are pushing?

About “Jesse Ventura,” on average.

KoB

I rate being a Vet and running for political office right up there next to the lawer Vets that are soliciting to handle your Camp Lejeune toxic water case. Useless Grant was a Vet and had one of the most corrupt cabinets in the history of this Country. The list goes on. Jeff Davis was a Vet and the FIRST (ht 2 Chip) thing he did was attempt to nullify the whole “States Rights” thing and implement an oppressive, strong Central Government, ala Old Abe (a vet). And let’s not forget John Skeery…and DaNang Dick…McStain… Need I go on?

OMHO one of the few politicians in modern times that actually tried to do right by Veterans was Former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn. And he never served. YMMV

I beg to differ and I’m no the only one. The last time Ron Paul ran for office he received more money from active duty service members than every other candidate in the race combined.

Dr. No was “Drain the swamp” back before it was a thing.

KoB

Differ on, I agree. “…one of the few…” “YMMV” I voted for Dr. No in his primaries back yonder. Too bad he was held back by “The Swamp” and their media lackeys.

The only thing that most politicians are concerned with is their re-election, We, The People be damned. Change my mind…I’ll wait.

HT3,
Nope.

Even PA’s Governor candidate, retired Army COL Doug Mastriano,
FAILED to “vet the vet”, his primary Lt.Gov running mate Teddy Daniels,
a Purple Heart combat vet,
who is a lying shitbird about everything ELSE in his life.

Mastriano won his primary, and Teddy finished 3rd.
Soon after, loser Ted called Carrie DelRosso,
the female primary winner Lt.Gov candidate,
a “turd” and a “pig”.

And, of course, we all know ALL about the Ohio GOP,
and the counties of the 9th district,
and their collective failure to “vet the vet”,
verify, and/or and weed out J.R. Majewski.

Hack Stone

Is there an asterisk next to JR Majewski’s entry indicating combat deployment?

26Limabeans

“95 veterans with a combat deployment;”

Gotta be one or two JR’s in there somewhere.

Hack Stone

No asterisk, but his entry does state that his Combat Deployment status is “Disputed”.

26Limabeans

At least it is showing “disputed”.

I count 8 Viet of the Nam vets listed. Makes me feel young again. I should run for something.

Hack Stone

Hack Stone had some furniture delivered to Stately Stone Manor last week. One of the delivery crew was an elderly Vietnamese man. At least he identifies as an elderly Vietnamese man. He asked hack if he was in the Viet of The Nam War. Just how old does he think that Hack is?

A few years ago, The young lady cashier in publix saw my LPH 3 ball cap and asked if I was a WW I Vet. I guess history isn’t taught any more in schools. I think I was in my 60’s at the time. Hitting the big 77 next month. Where did the time go.

5JC

Should have told her you were on the Lusitania.

Whupped the Kaiser’s ass and made him go into hiding in Holland…

Think of it like this: your service was probably almost 40 years, at least over 30 years, before she was born. If you’re born in 1945, equivalent to 1915 for you. As far as she is concerned, your wars were probably fought in armor from horseback
Not to mention history isn’t really taught any more.

5JC

Oh it is taught alright. But now the white man is the devil. See the the docudrama 1619 Project.

E-4 Mafia For Life

My co-worker asked me if I was in Vietnam. I had to tell him that I was 22 when I fought in the Gulf War. Vietnam vets are 70+. Korean War vets are 80+ and WWII vets 90+ are almost gone (of the 16 million, only 240,00 remain). 1969 was the cut-off for 1 year olds so I just missed the draft…

My, My, My

So, pardon my ignorance with the question:

NG/Reserve. For some reason I thought you had to have at least 180 days of active service to be considered a Vet.

Did this change?

I do appreciate/applaud their service and am happy they stood up when most will not. Just curious.

5JC

There are a few exceptions such as receiving an honorable discharge due to a service related injury. Also current serving reservists who have completed basic and ait are often considered veterans even if they haven’t served 180 yet.

My, My, My

Yes, thanks for the response. I guess I can consider my daughter a sister as well since she completed Basic/AIT last summer in the NG.

Six monthes and they can’t kick you out for lyin’ about your age… or, at least, you can’t get out after findin’ it sucked on that basis.

J.R. Majewski
now posting and campaigning on the topic of LIES.

Shit out the ass of a lying shitbird
doesn’t get any more gold than this.

Unless you count J.R.’s recent podcast nugget of new gold…
“I received Imminent Danger Pay, which qualifies me as a Combat Veteran.”

Being a Vet is always 100% indication of good moral character and reverence to The Constitution!

Being a veteran doesn’t mean squat. Lyndon Johnson was a veteran, so was John McCain, Jimmy Carter, and George McGovern. Putting any weight on veteran status is typical conservative stupidity. They don’t really stand for anything and they’re scared to death of the establishment. The leadership doesn’t want them to stand for anything, principles get in the way of deal making. So they channel their voters into minor superficial issues, like veteran status and cheap fraudulent pseudo patriotism so they don’t have to come up with actual policies that might save the nation, because those policies might piss off the donor class. So you get Hunter’s laptop and Hillary’s servers (which came to nothing, as it was intended to) instead of. say, shutting down mass immigration. How many times do they have to pull the football away, Charlie Brown?
