Cruz gets life
Nikolas, not Ted….geez, guys, get it straight! Nikolas is the asswipe that shot up the Parkland High School, killing many students and inflicting the likes of David Hogg on the rest of us. (You would think that crime against humanity alone deserves a death penalty, but he wasn’t charged with it.)
Poor little Nikki had a sad childhood – apparently his mother was one of the Walking Wounded in the War on Drugs, his brain was rotted in the womb, none of the kids liked him, and meanies stole his lunch money. Or whatever. Regardless, the penalty phase of his trial ended today and the jury verdict is Life Without Parole.
Jurors began deliberations on Wednesday after hearing several weeks of testimony in the penalty phase of Cruz’s trial. The 24-year-old pleaded guilty last year to 17 counts each of attempted and first-degree murder in the Parkland high school shooting.
“There are 17 victims that did not receive justice today,” Fred Guttenberg, the father of 14-year-old shooting victim Jaime Guttenberg, said at a news conference Thursday. “This jury failed our families today.”
While I support the families’ position 100%, I am actually OK with the verdict under one condition. I don’t condone state-sponsored killing of its citizens – except that it’s the states duty to protect its citizenry, and in some cases the proven threat cannot be positively, 100% guaranteed to not commit more crimes against the citizenry without putting them to death. It is the ONLY penalty for which the recidivism rate is exactly 0%. So given that, how can I support this verdict?
My one caveat is that he has to stay in GenPop.
I figure that way he will not cost the taxpayers more than a few month’s upkeep before someone Dahmerizes him. None of this 40 years appeals and delays nonsense – hell, it took them 6 years just to get him to trial. Let the boys in the yard handle it.

I, personally, am a firm believer in Capital Punishment, just not as it it done now. If a person is KNOWN, beyond any doubt, to be guilty of a heinous crime, within a week to ten (10) days, public execution on the Court House Square, film at 6 & 11. You can bet that when sure and swift punishment is meted out to guilty ones, the crime rate will drop off like a prom dress.
Now the taxpayer is gonna spend another coupla ten million $s to keep this trash locked up for 50-60 years.

My math is a little fuzzy but I make it at 4.5 years not 6. For the amount of shit that has to be done for a multiple murder trial.that isn’t too bad.

It was based on ‘he was 18 when he bought the gun and he was mentioned as 24 today’. Either way, an unconscionably long time to trial. A trial is supposed to establish guilt or innocence, and he was guilty as sin. Should have had a “fair trial, followed by a first-rate hanging” years ago.
No. He pled guilty to all charges last year. The trial was to determine if it was going to ride the lightning or not. That he was guilty there was no question.

Cruz’ lawyer had him wear the ‘fashion glasses’ to make him look intelligent and innocent. They have non-prescription glass lenses in them. It’s an old Public Defender trick. They sometimes put blue frames on them to give them that innocent “baby blue eyes” look.

Part of Cruz’ defense was to plead that it was his addiction to pornography and playing violent video games that made him plot to kill his classmates rather than Narcissistic Sociopathy. I think they should repeat his defense on the internet, but say it was his addiction to kiddie porn or Gay porn and his self-loathing Homosexuality that made him shoot his classmates. He’ll make some interesting bunkmates for sure.

He posted a lot of racist and ethnic slurs on the internet as well as a bunch of anti-gay stuff. Seeing how practically everyone in prison is one or more of the above he will likely have a bumpy ride.
He also said that he chose Valentine’s Day for his trip to infamy to “ruin it for everyone”.

Florida, if you couldn’t find 12 people to give Cruz an express ticket to hell, you might as well erase the death penalty from your Penal Code. If he didn’t deserve it, nobody ever will.
Life in prison is way more than he deserves. He should not be allowed to draw more breathes than his victims.
He should’ve gotten:
Life without parole in the electric chair.

You can kill cops, gang related killings and you are like a god while serving time but when it comes to serial killers, women and kids, it’s a different story and hopefully he won’t last that long.

Good verdict, but the punishment should have been a life sentence on the gurney.
