Man dies in shootout with Milwaukee police; bystander hurt
A man was killed by Milwaukee officers after he led them on a chase into a busy downtown bar district, then got out of his vehicle and opened fire on them, police said.
One bystander, a 22-year-old Hudson woman, was hit by gunfire in the Friday night shootout, police said. Authorities said they did not immediately know if she was shot by police or by the man; police said her injuries were not life-threatening and she was treated at a local hospital. No officers were hit by gunfire.
Police said the 47-year-old Milwaukee man was wanted in a homicide and police had spotted him in a vehicle and tried to stop him at about 11 p.m. Friday when he fled. When the chase ended downtown, police said, the man got out of his vehicle and “fired several shots at officers.”

A Wisconsin man wanted in connection with a murder in Milwaukee was killed in a police shooting Friday night.
Ernest Blakney, 47, was shot and killed by police in Milwaukee’s downtown bar district after a high-speed chase Friday, FOX 6 reported.
He was wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old Nikia Rogers, whose body was discovered in Blakney’s burned-out home on August 25. He was suspected of setting his house on fire.
An autopsy later revealed Rogers died from bullet wounds to her back and head. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Deputies arrest suspected burglar who was shot during home invasion in Adams Run

Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office say they have arrested a man who attempted to break into an Adams Run home Saturday morning.Lawrence Butler Jr., 37, of Adams Run was arrested and charged for the attempted burglary.
Deputies responded to a home invasion 911 call in the 5300 block of Mauss Hill Road just before 3:30 a.m., according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Andrew Knapp.
Two residents were inside the home when Butler broke a glass window in the front door and climbed through where he was shot in the left arm by the homeowner, deputies say.
On arrival, deputies found Butler lying in the home near the door suffering from a gunshot wound as well as a bag of cocaine that deputies say belonged to him.
Butler reportedly told detectives that he had consumed drugs and alcohol and was fleeing a nearby party when he broke into the home.

Since 2019, MPD has gone from being down 36 sworn officers to now having 236 vacancies.
Doesn’t sound like much until you realize it will take a minimum of 3 years to train that many officers. Also since they are averaging 70 MORE vacancies a years since 2019.
“Two of our detectives were out doing follow-up. They noticed an armed robbery suspect had pulled up. They asked for uniform personnel to respond. When they asked for uniform personnel they were told there was no one to respond to them right now,” The two detectives ended up getting hurt trying to bring in the suspect.
More budget cuts are planned, the pension is underfunded and the city council hates the police so oh well.
Unfortunately, those who did not vote for this bullshit will also get hammered by crime and non-response to every call but murder.
