Suburban Chicago police investigating a domestic disturbance fatally shot a 64-year-old woman Sunday who was armed with a knife when officers arrived at the door of her apartment, police said.
Illinois State Police, who are investigating the deadly shooting, said Monday the woman was holding a knife when Flossmoor officers arrived at the door of her apartment in the Cook County village about noon Sunday.

A Florida homeowner will “absolutely not” face charges after firing an “AK-47-style gun” at suspected home invaders, a local sheriff said.“He started shooting for his own protection, to get them out of his house and to protect himself,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said of the recent shooting in a video address posted to the office’s official Facebook page.
Simmons said three men, including one armed with a gun, entered a home in Escambia County just before midnight on July 7. The homeowner was present when the three men entered the house and pulled out a handgun from his waistband, but dropped the firearm.
The homeowner was able to run and retrieve another weapon, an “AK-47-style gun,” while one of the suspects picked up the victim’s handgun.

A Philadelphia man was seen on dramatic video turning the tables on two would-be armed robbers as he wrestled a gun away from one suspect and shot a second suspect who rushed him at gunpoint on Monday afternoon.The attempted robbery took place just before 2 p.m. on the 4200 block of East Cheltenham Avenue in the city’s Wissinoming neighborhood, Philadelphia police said.
The 46-year-old victim, identified only as a Black male, was found lying at the intersection of Cheltenham and Erdrick Street with gunshot wounds to his buttocks and left ankle. He was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in stable condition.
Police released surveillance video that shows the victim and one suspect in a physical struggle that spills from a sidewalk into the street.
The victim wrestled the gun away from the first suspect, and while still on the ground, a second suspect runs from down the street and began firing, the video shows. The victim returned fire and appeared to strike the second suspect at least once.

Be interesting to know “more of the story”. From initial reading, sounds like she might have been in her kitchen prepping Sunday lunch when she was interrupted and went to the door with her knife in her hand, meaning no harm to nobody. Then the po-po gotta get all up in her face. Tsk.
