“Repeal the Second Amendment” rears its head again

| May 27, 2022

Talks about repealing the Second Amendment, as well as taking specific types of firearms away from the populace, have once again gained traction. Recently, one of The View’s hosts expressed frustration over Republicans expressing sympathy over the recent mass shooting. It would appear that The View would feel that if the Republicans were truly sympathetic, they would implement the solutions that the left wants implemented to “stop” these shootings. MSNBC echoed similar sentiments.

From Fox News:

Over on ABC’s The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg echoed Dean’ position, seeming quite confident that Americans would soon have to give up their AR-15’s.

“Okay you can have your gun. But you can’t have your AR-15,” Golberg shouted. “If you’re gonna get all in my business can and cannot do, neither can you. They’re gonna come for those AR-15’s and you better be ready to give them up, because this is America.”

In the same segment, Goldberg became agitated, threatening physical violence if Republicans continued to express empathy for the victims of the Texas shooting.

“I swear to god if I see another Republican senator talk about their heart being broken, I’ma go punch somebody,” Goldberg said.

“And thoughts and prayers,” Joy Behar chimed in.

“I can’t take it, and their thoughts and prayers. If your thoughts and prayers were really with everybody you’d have done something by now,” Golberg added.

A number of other hosts and guests also expressed their frustration with members of the GOP.

“You’re the weakest, most feckless pathetic liars to say we can’t do something about [these shootings]. We can do something about it,” Joe Scarborough said earlier that day on MSNBC.

“The Morning Joe” co-host also called Republican lawmakers “barbarians” for not wanting to talk about the politics of the situation so soon after the tragedy had occurred.

“The ReidOut” host Joy Reid also tore into Republicans for their stance on gun control and their hesitance to get political on the subject.

“Please spare me the ‘don’t politicize these deaths BS,'” Reid said.

She added that that Republicans and their “two pet Democrats, a likely reference to Senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema, will never reach a point where the “rivers of blood” will ever “run deep enough” to spark a change in policy position.

Yeah, repeal *this* beyatches!

Fyrfighter

Amazing how willing some folks are to give up their rights.. or at least the rights of others..

Martinjmpr

Go for it. Channel all the money and political effort into repealing the 2nd Amendment. It only takes 13 state legislatures to block an amendment and I can name about 20 – 25 clearly pro-gun states off the top of my head. So yes, waste your time/money/effort on this futile pursuit. I encourage it.

Screw this, I’m buying more parts for ghost fishing rods.

Hey PMS-NBC and ABC’s The View, my ‘spooky boys’ identify as juden and I’m a’posed to your Nat-zo-fun Parti.

GO ahead. But remember, “if the law does not protect me from thee, it equally does not protect thee from me.”

Well said.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that the Police ARE NOT legally obligated to protect individuals.

5JC

This is an oft misquoted and misconstrued court ruling. What the SCOTUS said was that the police had a general duty to protect the public but no duty to protect any one particular person. The reasoning was that every time someone is the victim of a crime the police could potentially be liable in some way for whatever happened to the victim, which is of course ludicrous.

F*ck it, I’m on my coffee break– like the resource officer who wasn’t there.

Letting the Robert Francis’s of our land know that they may certainly make the attempt to take it from me out of my cold dead hands.

I’ve heard a lot more people lately making reference to Justice Burger’s words about the 2A being “the greatest fraud placed upon the American people,” since the shootings.

AW1 Rod

Actually, he referred to the NRA’s lobbying in support of an expansive interpretation of the Second Amendment as “One of the greatest pieces of fraud he has ever seen.” Not about the 2nd Amendment, itself.

Burger was a constitutional constructionist, and believed the wording of the 2nd amendment stood on its own merits. And it does.

Shall NOT be infringed.

Deckie

Correct — but lefties be leftin’ hard when it comes to their revisionist tendencies.

CDR D

They are spin artists, and pathetic ones at that to anyone who pays attention to facts.

They used to quote the *Cruickshank* decision, “The right to keep and bear arms is not a right granted by the Constitution…” leaving out the rest of the cite “…neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence. The Second Amendment declares that it shall not be infringed.”

poetrooper

SHALL not be infringed.

The term ‘Shall’, according to Black’s Law Dictionary, means ‘has a duty to’. This definition illustrates a compulsory aspect associated with the duty specified. Thus, it is mandatory on the person or legal entity performing the duty. In contracts, the word ‘Shall’ is traditionally used to convey a duty or obligation in relation to the performance of the contract. Keep in mind that contracts are generally written in the third person. Therefore, the use of the word ‘Shall’, particularly in the third person, connotes a sort of command, thereby rendering the performance of an obligation or duty imperative. Simply put, ‘Shall’, particularly in contracts or legal documents such as statutes, generally refers to some form of compulsory action or the prohibition of a certain action.

In the modern world, constitutions are conceived as contracts drawn up by ‘the people’ to establish and limit the powers of governing institutions. This modern concept of the constitution, which marks a distinct break with the ancient understanding, performs an important function: it provides the foundation of legal order and lays down the basic law of law-making, establishing itself as the pivot on which the legitimacy of legality turns.

Good thing one man does not a government make, eh?

In his own [statist hand-licking] words:

A states’ natural position is one of tyranny, if steps to alter it fail, even by majority or minority faction, people have the right to abolish it. (I’m ok playing hopscotch with the framers words, suck it)

Gibs me liberty or lolz!

CDR D

In order to be “well regulated” in the 18th century sense of the term, like a clock for example, the militia must be drawn from people with the right to keep and bear arms, and not from some other source, i.e., people with no such right. That policy lays the very foundation of a “free state”.

And 16-year-olds were expected to own common infantry weapons then, too.

A Proud Infidel®™

Same shit, different day. THE SAME SIDE that screeches for “Defund the Police” as well as muzzling them in their job also screeches for disarmament of the public, making it riper grounds for violent criminals, places like Chicago and elsewhere are proof of that. They screech for everyone to hug and sing “Kum-ba-yah” while threatening violence against those who don’t agree with them in lockstep, further proving that liberalism is a mental disorder. WTF about the lapses in security on that school alongside the warning signs that perpetrator gave off? That and the school being a Gun-Free Zone told the scum there would be a bonanza of unarmed victims.

Roh-Dog

“[The Commie/Leftbot/Libturd/Head-in-the-sand’ers/Witting or unwitting handmaidens of the NWO/WEF/lizard people] screech for everyone to hug and sing “Kum-ba-yah” while threatening violence against those who don’t agree with them in lockstep…”

Well…

Let’s do it. Let’s make guns illegal and get rid of all the police. Raise minimum wage to $30/hr and everyone that is homeless just move in to wherever they want to stay. We open the borders up the whole way and let anyone who wants to come in to the country come on in. Everyone who ever had their civil rights violated gets reparations and free money. Without the police we can go ahead and get rid of the courts, prosecutors, DAs, judges and pretty much all lawyers. I’m balls deep in.

Things should sort themselves out in a few months.

Um, I do believe you misspelled ‘hours’.

Yes, just like they did in the “Mad Max” movies or “The Road,” where there is no law and it is every man for himself.

Tallywhagger

Love that freedom of speech part… helps to identify who to excise in the event of someone violating that delightful 2nd Amendment.

Turn a law abiding gun owner into a “criminal” and see how “criminals” respond.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

“Okay you can have your gun. But you can’t have your AR-15,” Golberg shouted.
The reason that Hoopie goldburg said this is because SHE is a gun owner herself. I don’t know if anyone is aware of this because I didn’t see any comments on it.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Afterthought from my above comment after I hit the post button. I have Conservative friends down here that are ok with the 2A but not with those Black rifles which were after the Conn school shootings. Same thing with the guy that has the WFTL 850AM Sunday radio Condo show and says that he owns hand guns and carries but the Black rifles no one should own which Politician Vet Marine Brian Mass down here in Florida said after school shootings. I have the idea that these peeps don’t know why the 2 A was put in the Constitution.

Roh-Dog

I have the idea that these peeps don’t know why the 2 A was put in the Constitution”, or figure out that the only ‘side’ that has made concessions since 1798 has been the Armed Citizen and the totally standard semiautomatic rifle that is the AR-15 family of weapons is indistinguishable in action from all other semi autos.

I’m D.U.N. “negotiating” with these people. Doubly so with those fcuking godless heathens in the Everytown/Moms Demanding Sweet, Sweet Action group here in CT.

You took MY right to adequately defend MY society. Used dead kids to do so!?

GTFO of MY country.

(don’t know if the attached will read, not gonna try to fix it)

The framers knew the Constitution would have to be amended. They also knew it should never be amended frivolously. Like now.

There are two ways to amend the Constitution- either Congress proposes an amendment, or the various States demand a Constitutional Convention.

Neither work very well. The Constitution has been amended only 27 times in the history of the United States, including the Bill of Rights.

That 2/3’s majority is a bitch, so good luck, Proggies.

Dumbasses don’t realize that the 2nd A is what gives us the ability to protect the other A’s…and ourselves. Before that tragic boat accident, I used to walk thru the house, speak lovingly to my firearms, and admonish them to play nice while I was gone. Musta worked because not a single one of them ever went off and killed somebody.

I still say that if those wanting to have total control over We, The People, don’t like it here, or gunz in general, there are other places in the world they can go to where folks aren’t allowed to have weapons. I hear China is nice this time of year.

May their chains rest lightly.

According to sources, Cocaine Mitch has instructed other RINO’s to work with the D-rats to craft a federal red-flag law that can be used to confiscate guns from anyone deemed “dangerous.” This, as the D-rats are all screaming that every “assault rifle” needs to be confiscated. Cuz that will surely prevent all future mass shootings. (NOT!)

If they get their way, everyone collecting for PTSD from the VA may need one of those boating accidents with their guns on board.

Roh-Dog

F*ck that. Pack the ruck with as much ‘pogey bait’ as possible, pull stand-to, march on Failington DC at sunrise.

That pegged ‘wife’ to a chicomm puppet, who someone ‘decided’ to make the GOP leader of the senate, needs to check himself before he gets the Pence treatment…. in Minecraft.

Anyone with a non-progressive opinion and/or combat experience will be “dangerous” for Democrats, of course.
