“Lieutenant Dan” Moves His AO

| April 28, 2022

Gary Sinise

From 2010 to 2020, over 1.3 million Californians left California, with 500,000 leaving just in 2019 and 2020. For the first time in its history California also lost a congressional seat. The state lost $8.8 billion in gross adjusted income in 2019 from more people leaving the state than coming in. Ironically, about $1.5 billion of that went to Texas.

We don’t need to delve into the reasons for the exodus. Gary “Lt Dan” Sinise found enough of his own to seek greener pastures. AW1 Rod sends.

Actor Gary Sinise to Relocate Foundation from California to Tennessee

Actor Gary Sinise, who played Lieutenant Dan in the hit move Forrest Gump, is relocating his foundation from California to Nashville, Tennessee.

The organization, entitled the Gary Sinise Foundation, is veteran-focused and has a mission to support “unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities” for those who have served our country.

“After so many decades and some great successes here in California in the movie and television business, we wanted to change,” he said in an interview with Fox & Friends.

According to the actor, the state’s business climate played a role in his decision to select Tennessee, while also describing the fact the state is located near many military bases.

Good for Tennessee and Gary’s foundation- I’ll bet the decision of where to go took longer than the one to leave. Thanks, Rod.

Good for him!

As he shared, it all makes sense, i.e. Tennessee is located near many Military Bases, is a No-Tax State and is home of the Country music business in Nashville, all which is great for his Foundation.

Plus, it’s in the South…😉😎

The ole song “California, Here We Come” is now becoming a Dinosaur…Perhaps even the classics “California Dreaming” or “I Wish They All Could Be California Girls”?

We feel for the Conservatives who live in California, but don’t have the means or money to move. At least some of them are standing their ground. Let us hope for their sake that upcoming elections will change to make their lives better.

Thank You, AW1Rod and AW1Ed for sharing this story.

“I wish they all could be Alabama girls” just doesn’t paint the same mental picture. 😂

If it is done fairly, re with no socialist democrat involvement, Kalifornia will lose probably two to three more seats. Let us be happy.

California here we go, onto somewhere not so slow

The downside to the California exodus is that those who are leaving are bringing their politics with them. They’ll still vote for the dip stick, ass clown, head up ass morons they already vote for in California in whatever “safe zone” they flee to..

Texas was better off without the $1.5 billion and the people that brought it here.

I’m sure the fact that Tennessee has no state income tax was just a side issue. 😀

My wife’s family is moving from California to Tennessee this summer to escape the left coast. When she first came to Tennessee (assigned to Ft. Campbell) she was amazed at the fact that none of the high schools had a swimming pool.

She said: “Why, in California, all the high schools have a swimming pool.”

And I said: “Would you rather have high taxes – high services;
or “low taxes – low services.”

There are public swimming pools here in Clarksville, several of them, as well as the local athletic club (privately owned) and the YMCA. So if you want to swim … swim. But don’t expect to tax the system for swimming pools for all high schools.

Open Carry, Right to Work, a balanced state budget every year (by law), a prudent fiscal policy, Tennessee is ranked #2 or #3 in the nation by most measures of funded pension plans.

What is messed up is that even with sky high income tax their sales tax rate is still higher than Tennessee.

Hondo

TN actually does have an income tax, but it only affects a relatively small number of TN residents.

TN does not levy an income tax on wages. However, interest and dividend income is taxable at a relatively low (1% to 2%) rate.

Sorry to disappoint the Southern gents here who advocate for Georgia, but I and my extended family have begun property shopping in Tennessee. For all the reasons Gary Sinise – and TAH commenters – cite.

We’re looking to make our own version of a compound – multiple dwellings/buildings on 10+ acres, preferably mostly wooded with some pasture for horses and a cow or two and river or creek frontage. The debate over Eastern or Western TN still rages. I’m really wishing I had done this a few years ago as the prices of properties have skyrocketed.

Georgia is doing a couple things to try and be more competitive, flat tax, no sales tax on car purchase, etc.

At age 65 the first $65K of income State Tax free.

Move it someplace where they don’t hate America and veterans? Gosh, why ever would he do that? /sarc

I have no problem at all with people like Gary Sinise relocating to Red State America, but the libtards doing so bug me, and IMHO it confirms my hypothesis that liberals and liberalism are not unlike a parasitic infection. Like a Biological Parasite, Liberals render a location unlivable like they did to California and then relocate to infest other places like they’ve done to OR, WA, and CO to name a few, they take their politics with them and infect other locales to the point of no return.

Now hear this, now hear this..

I said it many times before, and Lars can try in vain all he wants to refute it:

Shithole failed state.

That is all.

I was able to chat with him regarding my daughter’s Service connected disability. What a wonderful human being.
We are so lucky to have people like Lt Dan…
