World War III has begun
A Russian State TV host made this announcement after the Moskva was sunk. The host claimed that effective that ship’s sinking, Russia was in a war against NATO’s infrastructure. The Russians claimed that they had a fire on board. However, it was sunk after getting hit by missiles.

“What it’s escalated into can safely be called World War III — that’s entirely for sure,” Russia 1 television host Olga Skabeyeva said, according to a translation of Friday night’s broadcast by Britain’s Metro News. “Now we’re definitely fighting against NATO infrastructure, if not NATO itself. We need to recognize that.”
The remarks on the Russian state sponsored station come a day after Russia’s flagship, the Moskva, sank in the Black Sea on Thursday.
While the Russians claim the sinking was the result of an onboard fire that accidentally broke out, U.S. officials confirmed to The New York Times that two Ukrainian Neptune missiles struck the vessel, seen as the pride of the Russian fleet, killing an unknown number of sailors, and sending the vessel to the bottom of the Black Sea.
According to the Times, the Moskva was positioned off the Ukrainian coast and was used to send rockets into Ukrainian cities, hitting apartment buildings and other targets.
Retired military officers told the Times the sinking was a “bold” counterattack and the ship’s powerful missile platform is impossible to replace, making it a “grave blow” to Russia’s fleet.
“It was a very impressive ship,” retired Rear Adm. Samuel J. Cox, the director of the Naval History and Heritage Command in Washington told the Times. “With those surface-to-surface missile launchers, she really looks dangerous. But apparently, she can’t take a punch.”

I remember during a workup for deployment we were told the Soviet ships were armed to the teeth and should be feared by all. I guess things have changed in the last 40 years.
Those large, exposed missile launchers on several Soviet era Russian warship classes were thought problematic. Ours are enclosed in the ship’s hull for obvious reasons.

They have been using a mix of their best and average formations. The type and number of vehicles confirmed destroyed by visual evidence (far smaller than the numbers the Ukes claim to have destroyed) point to the presence in Ukraine of their best formations.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, they can probably defend their country well enough, but they have zero expeditionary experience, even to attack their next door neighbor.
Given what we know about the Russian army and its military in general, it does not appear that he has any class A formations anymore.

After 7 weeks of being spanked for the whole world to see, Russia has their collective panties in a bunch over said spanking.
On a somber note, I expect Mariupol to join the sad history of Srebrenica, Warsaw, and other cities of epic human tragedies. The Russians will continue to take out their frustrations on the Mariupol people.
Today’s situation… Russkies could still tac nuke their way out of trouble just being butthurt, worst case:
“The Pride of the Black Sea” was already antiquated with a half-decent coat of paint, who knows now just how dilapidated it was on the inside other than the surviving Crew and they aren’t going to be allowed to talk. As to Putin and Company, he’s been going on yet another purge of his inner circle and my bet is that a number of people are hoping he croaks like Stalin did when he was in power.
Hopefully, there’s someone in the inner circle who’s tired of being blamed for everything, or is upset that someone in the west has repo’d his yacht or other holdings.
I wonder if the surviving crew and some of the Navy’s leadership have earned a PCS move to Siberia?
