Russian soldier: Russian military opened fire on Russian town

| April 16, 2022

Ukrainian intelligence intercepted a call between a Russian soldier and his wife. During the conversation, the soldier talked about how Russians attacked a Russian town. This apparently was an attempt to get the Russians focused on Ukraine rather than on their increasing challenges at home.

Business Insider:

The Security Service of Ukraine released an audio clip of the call on Friday, in which a man’s voice can be heard saying Putin’s forces have been opening fire on a Russian town. The man, a soldier located in Ukraine’s Donetsk region, was speaking to his wife on the phone, who’s back home in Russia.

“These are our heroes,” he told his wife.

“This is done in order to provoke … Ukrainians,” he said, according to Ukrainian intel.

The soldier said Russian forces bombed Klimovo, a Russian city straddling the border between Russia and Ukraine. Klimovo authorities, meanwhile, blamed Ukrainian soldiers for shelling the city, an accusation Kyiv has vehemently denied. The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine characterized the blame as “an attempt to ignite anti-Ukraine hysteria in Russia,” according to Radio Free Europe, a US-funded media company.

The Russian soldier compared the shelling to the series of bombings in Russian apartments in 1999.

“The same crap was in the Chechen war,” he told his wife. “Apartments were blown up in Moscow, like … they were terrorists.”

He said it was orchestrated and carried out by officers with Russia’s Federal Security Service, which has frequently been accused of torture.

“The FIRST (ht 2 Hack Stone) Casualty of war is the truth.” And who are we to believe? We may recall, in Clancy’s Red Storm Rising, the KGB set a bomb off in the Kremlin, killing children and minor officials. And who can forget the Ivans blaming Katyn Forest on the Germans.? Nothing at all new in warfare propaganda and the blaming of “the other side”. History is repleat with examples.

Again, my sympathies are totally with the innocent cannon fodder, on both sides, during the power grabs of the despots…on both sides.

Wasn’t there a passage in Catch 22 where the unit black market guy outsourced an air strike on the enemy? Or maybe the Germans paid him to attack his own airfield, it’s been about 35 years since Hack read the book.

M&M Enterprises at work… and everybody has a share, of course.

I remember watching the Chechnyan rebel’s getting smacked by the spetznatz live…right down to the what were they called? collateral damage. but if you consider the chechnyan’s had wired the kids to explode, there really were few injuries. Of Course 100% of the rebel’s died….but really, wtf. Could not have cared less. Do I believe Russia could attack a Russian town? Like say, oh Waco? Sure. Remember, absolute power corrupts, absolutely. When those checks and balances are removed. All I hear is Lamont Cranston doing a voice over.
