DALLAS — One suspect was shot and another was arrested after a reported break-in at a business in the Deep Ellum area early Monday, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Based on preliminary information, officers responded to a shooting in the 3000 block of Canton Street, near South Malcolm X Boulevard.

A business owner was asleep inside his own business, according to an officer on the scene.

The officer said two men kicked in the door and went inside, and the business owner shot one of the men. That man was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The other man who broke into the business was not injured and was arrested, according to police at the scene. Police said the case would be referred to a grand jury to determine if it was self-defense.

Portland police Tuesday confirmed that Benjamin J. Smith, a 43-year-old who lives next to Normandale Park, is a suspect in the Saturday night shooting at the park and the man who investigators believe fired a .45-caliber handgun that left one woman dead and wounded four others.

Another man fired back at Smith with a rifle, hitting him in the lower abdomen and bowel. Smith remains hospitalized in serious condition, the fifth person wounded in the park shooting, police said Tuesday.

Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. — John F. Kennedy

FIRST!
In 1962 I bought a 1917 .45Caliber Colt Military revolver. Packed in Cosmolene for years, a local gun store sold them off for $45.00 each. I resold mine a couple years later for $75.00 It used .45 ACP utilizing “half moon clips”.

The minimum wage in 1962 was about $1.25/hour. That was a pricey revolver for the time but you did well with the investment.

Back in the 1950’s, My friend’s Dad was a postal worker that emptied out the mailboxes and that was all he did and when he stopped by his sons house at lunchtime one day, he showed us the 1917 .45 and how the gun was loaded using the half moon clips. Now the mail carriers empty the mailboxes sans a side arm.

My maternal grandfather brought a Colt version of it home from the Great War. He had been a mule drawn ambulance driver in the Sanitary Train of the 76th Division. Fast forward a couple decades and he gave it to my father, a Marine as a wedding present, when he married his youngest daughter, my mother.

It ended up with me before the boating accident. I had mostly half moon clips but acquired a single full moon clip which was the best revolver speedloader I ever came across.

Was unaware that their were full moon clips. Learned something this morning TU USAFRetired

Yes, indeed. Should you feel like shooting .45 ACP out of your S&W Model 17 or 25 (or 9mm out of your .357, but not your .38 Special because that’d be dangerous) they exist.

My sister recently bought a 9mm revolver and it came with full moon clips.

As I reload ammo, I have acquired some 45 Auto Rim ammo and components that permit usage in these weapons without full/half moon clips.

Unfortunately not much available in the way of 45AR commercial ammo. The last I’ve seen is Remington 230 grain lead round nose. I prefer some sort of expanding round for self defense. Thus I used to keep it loaded with 45 ACP in half moon clip with a full moon as backup

I never use handloads for self defense rounds much for the same reason why I don’t shoot to kill rather I shoot to stop.

The only similarity to JFK and modern demonrats is he liked to cheat on his wife.
