Cass County Sheriff’s deputy fatally shot man inside home

A Cass County sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man during a confrontation inside a home near Alvo in southeastern Nebraska, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

The shooting shooting happened late Sunday night after deputies were called to the home, the patrol said in a news release Monday. Officials said reported an assault around 11 p.m., saying he had fled his house after his son had hit him in the head during an altercation.

Arriving deputies found his son, identified as 34-year-old Andrew Stratton, in the home’s basement, the patrol said, and during negotiations with Stratton, a deputy fired his weapon. Stratton was hit and died at the scene, officials said.

The patrol said investigators found a bow and arrow and long knife at the scene.

Devoun Cetoute
While being robbed by three people in Miramar, a person shot and killed one of the suspected robbers — a 16-year-old — on Monday, police were told. Two of the robbers are still on the loose.

At around 9:30 p.m., Miramar police were called to the 15600 block of Silver Shores Boulevard. The victim told officers they had been robbed by three people before shooting one of them, police said.

Officers found a gun, which was not the robbery victim’s, by the 16-year-old. The teen was air-lifted to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the other two suspects are still at large.

New Orleans mom, Iraq war vet pulls gun on man trying to enter her car: ‘Locked and loaded’

Emma Colton
A Louisiana mom and Air Force veteran pulled a gun on a man who tried to get into her car while she was sitting in gridlocked traffic with her 2-year-old son.

“You shouldn’t have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It’s un-American,” Charise Taylor, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, told WDSU. “The crime is out of control and it’s terrifying. At this point, having to use the same tactics in an American city that you use in Iraq and Afghanistan simply to navigate through the city, it’s scary, and I’m not the only mom feeling this way.”

Taylor said she was on her way to pick up her husband on Friday in New Orleans when she got stuck in traffic on Interstate 10. While navigating the backup, a group of people in a truck motioned to her to let them into her lane. She let them in, but soon after a man came up to her passenger door and began pulling on the handle.

FIRST! I know how the Air Force Veteran mom feels about being in the city in these days. That life ain’t for me.

There is a you tube guy that goes by the name Kentucky Ballistics that LOVES elephant guns. He has the 500, 600 and 700 Nitro express double rifles and shoots them repeatedly on his channel. Funny guy and his video’s are pretty entertaining.

That portable hand cannon (carried by two men and a young boy) should send Gun Bunny’s heart into palpitations.

The whole thing looks out of proportion. The grip appears too small compared to the rest of the hand cannon.
But, if you’re building a pistol large enough and strong enough to shoot a 600 NE, you don’t skimp on the materials to worry about the aesthetics.

You know me toooooooo well, Tox! Be still my beating heart. May have to double up on my meds this AM. “A bi-pod and shoulder stock may be in order.” My ass…A gun carriage and crew to serve it may be in order.

Gonna go out on a limb here with the Alvo story and speculate that the son had some drug/alcohol issues. A tiny little village, 130 some odd (100% caucasian) residents, right outside of Lincoln? Dad probably had had enough. Like most states, the crime in the small rural areas is usually spilled out from the cities.

Once less choir member or one less career criminal?

Nawlin’s story? CC.every.where.you.go! And be prepared to use it. This example is why I don’t mind riding shotgun/escort for Lady Friends when they have to go to the little big towns.

That sux bigly to have that kind of family altercation, to have son attack father, and son is subsequently killed. One has to wonder, what was involved, and how long had this situation been building up? These things don’t just happen in an afternoon.
I don’t know whether to console the father for the loss of his son, or congratulate him for escaping alive.

Any one of the above six calibers will break a collar bone. If someone wants to shoot one or more of them, I’ll spectate that sport.

And that article is from 2009. Wonder if the price would have broken $30,000 yet?

Don’t mess with Mom! More officials should listen to her.
This is a statement from an executive director of the business improvement area regarding homeless living in over 400 derelict RV’s in in the Seattle business district:
At some point, the city has to be able to start differentiating between folks who are living in RVs who might occasionally break into something, and folks who are using the RVs to mask full-scale organized crime activity.”
