DA affirms self-defense in deadly west Medford shooting; will not charge California man

By: Jamie Parfitt
MEDFORD, Ore. — A California man who shot and killed another man during an exchange outside a west Medford home in December will not face charges, the Jackson County District Attorney’s office announced on Wednesday night.

36-year-old DeAngelo McCauley acted in self-defense when he shot and killed 31-year-old Dominique Brown during the December 11 confrontation on Belmont Street, the DA’s office determined.

“In any criminal prosecution, when self-defense is raised as a defense, the state is required to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that self-defense does not apply,” the DA’s office said. “Due to the factual circumstances of this incident, the evidence supports only that Mr. McCauley was justified to use deadly physical force, as he was not the initial aggressor and he reasonably believed Mr. Brown was about to use deadly physical force upon him.”

Ohio Army Vet Acquitted In Shooting Death Of Allegedly Abusive Veteran Boyfriend
An Ohio jury acquitted Audrey Cole of murder and felonious assault in the shooting death of her boyfriend, Matthew Mott, who she said beat her before she shot him.

BY MEGAN CARPENTIER

A jury in Carroll County acquitted a woman charged with shooting her boyfriend after he allegedly abused her.

Audrey Cole, 34, had been charged with murder and felonious assault after she shot her boyfriend, Matthew Mott, 32, on May 3, 2021 inside the home they shared in Mechanicstown, Ohio — about 65 miles west of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The jury acquitted her on Wednesday on both counts after her lawyers argued that she shot Mott in self-defense, Law & Crime reported.

Cole told police in the hours after the shooting that Mott had assaulted her and put her head through their bedroom wall before leaving her alone in the room, the Carroll County Messenger reported.

“He grabbed me by the neck and started punching me in the head and face,” she said in a taped interview with police played at her trial. “He knocked my head into the wall. I tried to block him with my arms and hands. He was standing over me. I was yelling. Then he stopped and walked out. He was in a rage.”

We’ll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily – given the political realities – very modest. We’ll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal. — Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

Even in Oregon, make sure yours is the only story told to the police.

IMHO HCI can go sit & spin on top of a hot steam pipe while giving head to a hot high voltage conduit!

THE FIRST THING I bought for the Beloved Mrs. A Proud Infidel®™ after we wed was a nice semi-auto pistol with Crimson Trace™ laser grips because one, I can’t be with her all the time, often just the red dot on a perp takes all the fight out of it, makes the damn thing run and the Laser grip is nicely zeroed, so if she has to use it in anger she’ll dispatch the goblin. I’m all for Women being able to carry because a Restraining Order is only a sheet of paper.

Had the pleasure of extensively firing a Korth revolver in the early 80’s. I thought any of my Pythons were smooth! Trigger pull like greased ice on glass. You can actually feel the cylinder lock like a vault as it indexes. Took off the grips and removed the cylinder, and could not find a single machine mark, or any manufacture errors. Even the bottoms of the screw slots seemed polished!

Superb weapon….for a superb price!

Korth seems to be a weapon one would be able to afford to buy after winning a multi-million Power Ball lottery.
