USAF makes first discharges for COVID vax refusals

| December 14, 2021

The AP is reporting that the Air Force has discharged 27 servicemembers for failing to get the COVID vaccine. From the AP;

The Air Force has discharged 27 people for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine, making them what officials believe are the first service members to be removed for disobeying the mandate to get the shots.

The Air Force gave its forces until Nov. 2 to get the vaccine, and thousands have either refused or sought an exemption. Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said Monday that these are the first airmen to be administratively discharged for reasons involving the vaccine.

She said all of them were in their first term of enlistment, so they were younger, lower-ranking personnel. And while the Air Force does not disclose what type of discharge a service member gets, legislation working its way through Congress limits the military to giving troops in vaccine refusal cases an honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions.

The Pentagon earlier this year required the vaccine for all members of the military, including active duty, National Guard and the Reserves. Each of the services set its own deadlines and procedures for the mandate, and the Air Force set the earliest deadline. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has said the vaccine is critical to maintaining the health of the force and its ability to respond to an national security crisis.

None of the 27 airmen sought any type of exemption, medical, administrative or religious, Stefanek said. Several officials from the other services said they believe that so far only the Air Force has gotten this far along in the process and discharged people over the vaccine refusal.

As a result, they were formally removed from service for failure to obey an order. Stefanek said it is also possible that some had other infractions on their records, but all had the vaccine refusal as one of the elements of their discharge.

It is not unusual for members of the military to be thrown out of the service for disobeying an order— discipline is a key tenet of the armed services. As a comparison, Stefanek said that in the first three quarters of 2021, about 1,800 airmen were discharged for failure to follow orders.

I’ll go out on a limb that these 27 wanted out of the service, which is why they took the easy out. They didn’t even bother to file for any exemption. The COVID vaccine is giving all the dirtbag E-3s who just want to leave the perfect excuse. It’s easier than smoking pot and pissing hot.

There’s more information at the source, including current vaccination numbers. It appears as if the Guard and Reserve are really dragging down the DoD’s overall vaccine rate.

Good riddance

USAFRetired

Lets see a first term airman that didn’t get the CJR they wanted so wasn’t going to reenlist. Here’s a way to get out early and move on.

I’d be curious about all the demographics including AFSC gender marital/parental status, etc

Yeppers, I’m wid you USAFRetired. Easy way out. Gotta wonder how far this whole “People Control, not virus control” is going to go. Private companies are mandating that their employees MUST take the jab, or not have a job. And we’re seeing more headlines of “no jab, no admittance”, particularly in blue states. Next step, no jab, no interview? Rumblings from airlines, no jab, no fly.

“…and a pestilence will be released upon the land…”

Just imagine if the draft were still in effect.
Do ya think they would offer a no-vax deferement?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Not fucking likely…

Good job Air Farce, discharging people for not taking a not-a-vaccine that is under EUA, shows no long term efficacy, on which have zero long term health impact studies, an injury rate magnitudes higher than any other medical intervention that been approved for general use, won’t stop transmission… all for a virus that won’t even hurt these little babes.

Hey, United States Air Force your trash, your orders are trash and you should gfy.

^^THIS^^.

What some people don’t seem to understand is that religious exemptions were not going to be approved from the start. It had to be offered but the form denial letters were made even as the mandate came out.
Medical exemptions only 6 approved so far, so good luck with that. Maybe these 27 just said FU to the SECDEF & AF, and both deserve it.

Navy numbers are a big lie. Total overall % vaxxed is only @65%, not the 96-98 they are reporting. I pull the real numbers every day.

So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu
Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you

I’m going with Mason’s assumption that based on the not filing exemptions these were personnel who were already done with the military regardless of what was left on their enlistments…offer some folks an easy way out and it’s not hard to understand why they’ll take it…

VOV & Mason,
“It’s easier than smoking pot and pissing hot.”

In the 80s, it was
(male) fake homo confession, and
(female) real preggers (or fake homo confession).

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Not.

Or they know that the dotgov doesn’t have the authority to do jack so they neglected to kiss the ring.

If that’s the case, that bravery should be lauded and may pay dividends later.

‘The arc of the moral universe…’ and all that.

CountyDotGov fires school teacher for refusing to wear a mask…even tho the State (FL) and the County doesn’t partake in the whole mask thing. More Cowards in Broward.

Amen. They don’t want the Cloistered Few to become intolerant now, do they?

One enlistment and done.

Just want to remind everyone saying “good riddance”, that not so long ago that was said to homosexuals’. Then Lo the Light of Wokeness shone upon desks of the chairborne warriors and like as Lightning and Thunderstruck….and checks were written to those who had been bidden adios muchachos. Unless someone comes up with a cure for stupidity, I’m pretty sure this is just another ride around the Coriolis bowl of nexgen military management.

Roh-Dog

My point in a nut shell. From the harmed to the prematurely discharged and all inbetiwitx, pendulums do tend to swing.

Fat paychecks are borne by we, the tax payer per SOP.

I wonder if they had the option for Court Martial…

All the crap the military has stuck in my arm over the years and covid is the least to worry about.
