Wounded Suspect Takes Shotgun from Homeowner During Struggle After Being Shot

By Mark Ehlen
Texas is the only state that allows the use of deadly force to protect property but that doesn’t mean that it’s ever a good idea to do so.

A Camp County man heard some noise outside his home about 4:40 AM and upon investigation saw a man trying to break into his shed. He got his shotgun and went to confront the would-be burglar.

According to the Camp County Sheriff, “He shot the intruder. However, the man got up and they then struggled for the gun. The suspect was shot again before he managed to take the gun and flee.” – via KLTV

The suspect was later found at a local hospital.

First of all, never use deadly force to try to protect property. Even in Texas, the legal, and in this case also the physical, risks are just too great. Whatever the suspect could have taken out of this man’s shed would be worth nowhere near what his legal fees could be if he ends up charged with a crime. And that stuff certainly wouldn’t be worth his life.

I’m not arrogant enough to tell people how or when to defend themselves. Fortunately we have Mr. Ehlen for that.

Police: Mall shooting stemmed from attempted robbery

A mall shooting in North Carolina that left three people wounded was the result of an attempted robbery and one of the wounded is the suspected robber, police said Friday.

Interviews by investigators and reviews of video determined that two men approached a man selling jewelry outside a store on the second floor of The Streets at Southpoint on Nov. 26, and one of the men tried to rob the salesman, the Durham Police Department said in a news release.

The vendor and the would-be robber, a 26-year-old man whom police have not identified publicly, both had guns and fired at each other, wounding the suspect and two bystanders, a 10-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man.

Talk about “going down the rabbit hole”. Tanfoglio link takes you to the NC mall shooting. Gun Bunny will like that.
Too much blood in the caffeine stream this morning, ‘Ed? Not judging.

Mark Ehlen should be writing for the NYSlime, not USA Carry.

“First of all, never use deadly force to protect property.”

Whaaaaaaaat!? The whole article reeks of “advice” like that.

Wasn’t one’s wife considered property at one time?

“Gun Bunny will like that.” I’ll be damned. No he didn’t! No Sir, he didn’t like that one bit! I FIRST (ht 2 NDHoosier) thought that it was my machine, or the news feeds (both have been acting real sketchy of late). Only thing good about that linky was the well preserved leggy Ms Thang, stretched out in her LBD, in the car ad below the article. Tho, when all is said and done, I’d slobber over a nice boom stick quicker’ren a Ms Thang. Cost a whole lot less too. I even walked away for a coupla hours, just to see if our beloved AW1Ed would fix his screw up, but nooooooooo, still no joy. Then I remembered what week it is. Kid Squid (ht 2 Ol’ Poe) trying to get his licks in before this Saturday when (GO) Army has its way with (BEAT) Navy.

If the dirtbag in the shed is dead, then he can’t take the weapon away from you. Remember kids, aim center mass, double tap to the brain bucket, then put the shed ax in their hands. “I was in fear for my life…I will make a statement when my lawer arrives.”

The gud bois dindunuffins. Just doing a little Christmas shopping on the Burn Loot Murder discount.

‘beans, I had a wife that was community property…when I was working out of town.

– Camp County man – dead men tell no tales and no longer have the ability to divest you of your weapon…

– More’s the pity Mall shop owner didn’t give the World a great Christmas and kill both perp’s outright. But in deference to the important things, here’s hoping the two bystanders; ten year old girl and fifty eight year old man, have a speedy recovery.

I rather like that Tanfoglio Witness Elite – it appears as though it would leave no…witnesses.

I am very impressed with the Tanfoglio, especially after hearing how similar it is to the CZ-75. I like that you can get one frame and different barrels (and magazine). I was expecting a much higher price though. Italians make nice guns, I figured this was made in Czech Republic as well.

A small bean flip.
A carbine flip.
If you attach the thing that goes up in the back, would it be a short barreled bean flip.

‘Ed is just coitusing with us…cause he can! 😛

11B-Mailclerk, (phony segue) Yep. Changed the picture.
No more Purple Heart Combat Wounded Veteran cap.
No more Boy Scout uniform.
(However, he wore the cap on this trip to Devil’s Den,
Gettysburg Battlefield, PA)

Is there anything worse than taking 2 dozen boys on a Boy Scout field trip
to 1 of the bloodiest battlefields in American history,
and waltzing around those battlefields with those boys wearing a
Purple Heart Combat Wounded Veteran cap?

Ol Poe seconds your???, Mail.

What the hell is wrong with wearing your Purple Heart cap on an American battlefield if you legitimately earned and were awarded a Purple Heart?

Are we talking about a genuine wounded veteran here, MD61, or a SV fraud?

You did not make yourself clear as to the source of your indignation.

MarineDad61

Poe,
Yes, of course I did, twice,
in my 1st comment (the phony segue) with the link to the Thomas Cole Troop 232 GoFundMe,
and then again, just above,
4½ hours before your comment,
with the link to the Thomas Cole VG article.

“What the hell is wrong with wearing your Purple Heart cap on an American battlefield if you legitimately earned and were awarded a Purple Heart?”
Nothing.
🙂

MarineDad61

Poe,
It’s exactly why I put up the phony seque comment.
Thomas Cole “changed the picture” on the Troop 232 GoFundMe.
From a troop group photo (with the cap),
to a Gettysburg group photo (without the cap),
even though both the MP & VG articles have photos of Cole wearing the cap,
standing at the rock at Devil’s Den, Gettysburg,
WEARING THE GD PHCV CAP.

Your comment remains … odd … for a reply to my query about the photo.

The advice to not use deadly force to protect property is sound.
Not only is it not allowed in 49 states, but it can also be questionable in Texas.
There are DAs out there who make their political bones on prosecuting even those cases that are obviously justifiable self defense (Kyle Rittenhouse being the most recent example). These DAs would not hesitate to prosecute someone protecting property.
