A California teacher tells students to jump off a bridge
A California teacher is in hot water for telling a group of conservative students to go jump off a bridge. She took issue with a group of students who were honoring veterans. One of the students had a “F__ Joe Biden” flag. She claimed that the veterans that they were honoring would have been offended by this.

“The Paso Robles Conservative club for the high school, you can go jump off a bridge. I’m going to post what they thought was a great show of support for the veterans, who I’m pretty sure would be absolutely offended by what they did on school campus,” Bauer Speck Elementary School teacher Kristin Usilton said in a video that appears to be filmed in a classroom and recently posted on her Instagram account. She was taking issue with a student waving a “F— Joe Biden” flag on a school parking lot last week.
It appears the teacher has deleted her Instagram account, Fox News found during a search of her social media Thursday morning.
An investigation has been launched into the video, which circulated around Paso Robles Joint Unified School District over the last week and then on social media. Usilton describes herself as a dual immersion teacher, The Paso Robles Press reported. She has worked for the school district for six years.
“And had the LGBTQ population done that or the Black or the Hispanic community members, we would have had our a– chewed out. Look at what they did today,” she continued in the video of the conservative club.
She then showed a short clip of students ahead of Veterans Day waving American and military flags on the Paso Robles High School parking lot, according to the local outlet. One of the students also had a “F— Joe Biden” flag.
The teacher posted a follow-up video the same day, clarifying she didn’t literally mean that high school students should jump off a bridge.
“When I said ‘go jump off a bridge,’ I just meant go away, and I will not use that term again because of the incredible influx of messages I got about that. But if that’s what you focused on in that message, you’re kind of part of the problem,” she said in the follow-up video, according to the local outlet.
The teacher’s fiancé requested that an article on this incident be removed as it was ruining her name. Fox News has the story here.

I kinda agree here ONLY in the fact that as minors and those in a public high school environment, probably not the wisest idea to bring your shit talking game to that level, under those circumstances, maybe not appropriate here. A college campus, you’re paying for that shit, act however you want and suffer the adult consequences.
I also agree if the LGBTQWTFBBQLGBFJB or wait not the last 6… crowd did this….they would be fawning all over themselves praising them for their act of courage etc and would therefore be quickly and thoroughly applying their gobble gear to the aforementioned’s relevant backsides and genitalia, applying significant vacuum pressure AS TO generate desired frictions.

Just curious, and I am not looking to start a fight, but why doesn’t that flag belong on a high school campus if it doesn’t cause a disruption of the learning environment?
Students are allowed to make silent political statements on campus. (The Tinker case I cite below was based on kids wearing black armbands to protest the Viet Nam war in school. The administration told the kids to remove the arm bands.) The SCOTUS later said the non-disruptive speech of the arm bands was protected speech under the First Amendment.
Students and teachers don’t lose their First Amendment rights simply because they are on a school campus.
With that being said, I am simply curious as to why you feel the flag “doesn’t belong on campus.”
I agree with the sentiment of the Fuck Joe Biden flag, I’d just like to see a little bit of decorum and class in schools. I’m not about to violate anyone’s first amendment rights. If you want to fly it, it’s your right. I have the right to disagree, I don’t have the right to tell you “thou shalt not”. Hell, I fly a black flag over my own house.

I’ve been thinking about this for the last week. Does “Civilization” mean Civilized Society? and if it does, does an uncivilized society lose all claim to the positive and negative rights of a civilization? I don’t know. Received a D in Philosophy. Because if it does require civil discourse, I can think of 1 or 2 people who might not rank civilized on a scale of yes or no. Just thinking.
Conservative students have no such rights. That is why if they try something like this the shit hits the fan invariably. Folks are slowly starting to see some push back from the normal people, and they are not liking it at all. If it pisses off the liberals, I am all for it. And displaying that flag certainly does that. Nor does it “make us become that which we despise.” It is expressing a ligitimate opinion.

That being said, “where’s the beef”? Kids do stupid things. Some of them grow up to be stupid adults. Slap both their wrists, tell them “Go, and sin no more”, and stop wasting time on trivial matters.

The 1969 case of Tinker v. Des Moines Independent School District states:
First Amendment rights, applied in light of the special characteristics of the school environment, are available to teachers and students. It can hardly be argued that either students or teachers shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.
However, subsequent court decisions have stated that speech which is disruptive to the learning environment of the school is not protected.
In that the “F*** Joe Biden” flag did not disrupt the learning environment, (ie there were no fights, confrontations, etc) one can argue that the flag is protected speech for that incident. However, schools are given wide latitude in determining what may be disruptive and demand that students cease the relevant speech or actions.
The teacher’s speech is most likely protected as well. No one may like what she said and disagree with her, but it is most likely protected.
Both parties should most likely get a “don’t do that” talking to by the school district. “Don’t do it here where you are impacting the school.”
However, to me the bigger problem is that mass hysteria and anger directed in all directions of this incident. The student had an opinion. The teacher had an opinion.
The Conservative group was a high school group. The teacher is an elementary school teacher. The paths of the club and the teacher are not going to cross in the classroom.
Why do opinions seem to always result in fights, the “heckler’s veto” and people trying to cancel / ruin / punish others for simply disagreeing?

This is some real passive-aggressive nonsense from this “teacher.” She posts comments, then when she gets called out on part of those comments, she essentially says, “I didn’t mean what it sounded like so I won’t say that again” but then says anyone who didn’t like the comments in question is “kind of part of ‘the problem.’ ”
Equally non-sensical passive-aggressiveness from the District: They emphasize that the students involved in the display will be “appropriately disciplined” while only lightly scolding the teacher about “the appropriate venue for criticism” and conducting oneself in “a professional manner” yet then emphasizes no tolerance to “cyber-bullying” before finally promoting yet more events that “promote tolerance and unity.”
Finally, the teacher’s “fiance” tries to order the paper to take down its story. Sorry, amigo, but she made the comments so she can face the consequences, even if it does “[ruin] her good name.”
