LAPD- Be a Good Victim

| November 17, 2021

California is experiencing a perfect storm of surging crime, catch-and-release no bail policies, police defunding and the harshest firearms laws in the nation. The Los Angeles Police Department has some sage advice to lawful citizens.

“Due to an increase in violent street robberies, Robbery-Homicide Division has become aware of an ongoing crime trend of follow-home robberies,” an LAPD press release read, “If you are being robbed, do not resist the robbery suspects; cooperate and comply with their demands. Be a good witness.”

Follow-home robberies are just what it seems- the victim is followed home by criminals and robbed there. The LAPD would rather have citizens and their families in the home risk death at the hands of psychopathic criminals than defend themselves.

I don’t think so.

LAPD Tells Citizens ‘We Can’t Help You, So Cooperate and Comply with Criminals and Be a Good Witness’

By Larry Keane

Los Angeles residents are living through a nightmare scenario. The local district attorney announced he’s releasing a 24-year-old convicted murderer after serving only six years of a 50-year sentence. Police are, at the same time, telling everyone, including would-be criminals, that they’re unable to quickly respond to calls for help and that crime victims should just “cooperate and comply” with the perpetrators.

That’s on top of the fact that California has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, all obstacles to law-abiding citizens wanting to buy a firearm for protection.

The Los Angeles Police Department tweeted a warning that they’re in the midst of a surging crime wave, including increased so-called “follow-home” burglaries. That’s where a criminal watches their victim leave a store, follows them home then robs them.

The paltry warning is frustrating for sure, but after caving to “defund the police” activists last year, the L.A. City Council voted 12-2 to cut $150 million from this year’s police budget. That’s left law enforcement reduced and resulting to public safety by press release.

LAPD never heard of Colonel Cooper’s Condition Yellow, apparently. Instead of counseling citizens to maintain situational awareness and practice self defense they would rather unroll crime tape and take pictures of the victims.

Let’s go LAPD.

Aspiring Richard Ramirez-es are looking forward to the policy.

I will not submit.

Carry and be judged by 12, rather than carried by 6.

Deckie

Cause if you fight back (and win) you will be the next Rittenhouse.

Fuck you, California. Way to put the criminals before the victims, you shitbirds.

Great place my ass, Lars.

Kalifornia is a festering, embedded 3rd World shithole.

Roh-Dog

worthy of exorcism by any means necessary.

Nuke it from orbit.. it’s the only way to be sure.

Someone took down the links
I posted that showed a number of defensive shootings in home invasion robberies. Defense is alive and well in California.

Mason

Post too many links and it goes into moderation. Got it fixed up now for ya.

Follow-home crimes: best argument ever for living in a gated community…

nobunny

I heard one really bad “follow home crime” story when I was in my teens. It was bad enough to leave a deep impression. I watch my ass.

Fyrfighter

A while back, wife called and said that a car had followed the last three turns she’d made, and she was concerned.. Proper precautions were taken before she got to the driveway, may have been one or two long guns at the ready as she came past the house.. turned out that the car turned the other way at the end of our street, was the girlfriend of the neighbor kid.. but if it has been something more sinister, she was covered..

nobunny

That’s excellent.

And I’m sure you can attest to this FF, when you work with/around LEOs they share stories that shock you into situational awareness, not to gossip, gross out, or impress anyone, but as cautionary tales. I love their protective instincts.

Fjardeson

I live in a high-rise with those new-fangled high speed roll down doors. (Reminds me of the Batcave, kinda). Ain’t no-one following me home!

Oh, and screw California.

nobunny

In a better state: When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

Commieland: When seconds count… yeah we got nothin. Good luck!

Poetrooper

When seconds count, don’t waste them calling us…

Joe Friday, Bill Gannon, Pete Malloy, Jim Reed, and Brenda Johnson…weep.

You voted for it Commiefornia…now you own it.

TOW got out just in time. Hope he’s OK in his new digs.

Poetrooper

Where’s he been lately, BTW? Haven’t seen him commenting in a while.

Fyrfighter

Time to build a wall around that failed state! The last thing we need is refugees from there infesting and destroying other states, as it’s doubtful they’ll be smart enough to change their voting habits after they move.

Mason

He disappeared when the California wildfires started up. I sent an e-mail to the one we have on file and didn’t get a reply.

Fyrfighter

Thanks for the update Mason. While he is an insufferable moron and appears to be actively working to destroy the country, I honestly hope that the fires haven’t gotten him.

KoB

Fyrfighter, we were talking about The Other Whitey (TOW) getting out, not the spapos (aka seagull, larsi, insufferable moron). I think it’s been several months since The Other Whitey has posted. He made mention that he was spread thin, with work, new digs, new baby, kids, trophy wife, and his model projects.

Fyrfighter

Gotcha, sorry for my confusion. Yeah, I’m sure TOW was busy as hell out there, I know our crews were, even sent guys to Cali once.

KoB

Y’all stay safe, Man. Make sure everybody got them asbestos jock straps on. Wouldn’t want them big brass ones to get scorched.

Fyrfighter

Lol, thanks KOB, we’ll do what we can

Amateur Historian

If that is sage advice the LAPD is giving, then they got it from a sage that is constantly drunk and snorting coke.

As compared to the now retired Detroit Chief of police, and also running for governor;

“The police are not going to protect you when something is being perpetrated on you. They may turn up after the fact and run after that person, but you have to protect yourself,” Champion says.

Wait, since when does California have “the harshest firearms laws in the nation?”

There are a whole bunch of states in the Northeast where you have to have a special permit just to OWN a gun. To my knowledge, there is no such requirement in CA.

It is not illegal to drive through CA with a gun in your car the way it is in, say, New York or New Jersey.

You don’t need a “firearms owner ID card” to buy ammo in CA like you do in Illinois.

I’m not saying CA has great gun laws but in terms of being the “harshest” in the country, I don’t even think California cracks the top 10.

Martinjmpr

EDIT: So I went and looked up the laws.

While it’s true that California does not require a “permit” to buy a gun, it does require a “firearms safety certificate.” Some might consider that a “permit to buy” (although I wouldn’t.)

California does require registration of all firearms and firearms transfers have to be done through a licensed FFL.

It appears that there is also some kind of background check required to purchase ammo. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/apap

However, I don’t know what that means in practical terms, for example, whether one can only purchase ammo if they also have a registered firearm of that same caliber or not.

Maybe a CA resident and gun owner can chime in here.

Nevertheless I’ll reiterate that while CA gun laws aren’t extremely gun-friendly, they aren’t as bad as other states like NY, NJ, IL, MA, or HI.

nobunny

Anytime I have gun law question I go straight here: https://handgunlaw.us/

The first impediment for CA is that it is a “may issue” state – like the Northeastern states you mentioned – and not a “shall issue” state.

Poetrooper

You still need to doublecheck that site, nobunny. I’ve found false info on there before because they weren’t up to date on recent legislative changes or judicial opinions.

nobunny

Oh no! Okay, thank you for the heads up.

Well here we go again, and I still say that the People’s Republik of Kalifornia is JUST WHAT the left wants to inflict on the rest of the USA. THEY WANT poverty forced on everyone via their policies, crime allowed to run rampant as much as possible EXCEPT in the gated communities where the politicians live while the Gun Control Laws pretty much guarantee criminal goblins that Law-abiding people will be conveniently unarmed VICTIMS. Over the years we’ve seen liberal moonbats fleeing California to infest other States like they’ve done to OR, WA and CO which proves to me that liberalism is not only a Mental Disorder, it’s a parasitism on Society as well, liberals migrate once they’ve made one location unlivable, so they move on not unlike a Biological Parasite seeking a new host.

^This^ This is exactly what they want to do to the rest of us.

Washington state had new laws (“D” sponsors) go into effect the end of July 2021…

“The new law only allows a vehicle pursuit if there is “probable cause to believe that a person in the vehicle has committed or is committing a violent offense or a sex offense.”” also “under the new law, officers can’t pursue suspected violent offenders who have just committed an armed robbery until they take the time to first establish probable cause. For example, they may need to first contact the victim or a witness and confirm exactly what crime has been committed and what specific person is responsible in order to establish probable cause prior to engaging in the vehicle pursuit.”

This last one above recently kept nearby police from releasing K9’s to pursue a lone suspect running away across an open field after reports behind a store of a gunshot and finding a body as they had no witness to confirm probable cause.

One thing scares a Texan: a U-Haul from Californicate.

And a lot of those who’ve moved here haven’t learned their lesson. They want to Californicate our state as well. Witness: Austin.

…plus Houston and Hell Paso.

Devtun

Austin has been the South by South West version of Berkley for generations.

Poetrooper

Austin was already a liberal outlier in Texas when young Poe ETS’d and returned home to West Texas back in 1967.

El Paso was already a Democrat stronghold when young Poe attended UTEP there in 1970-71. Hasn’t had a Republican congressman since the mid-60’s.

Houston hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1982, almost three decades.

So in the larger scheme of things, those are the three cities you should be hoping for Californians to move into.

So they can just make it worse…

Just in case you’re not familiar with the reference, I had to google it and it sounded vaguely familiar so yeah, I kinda remember seeing this or hearing about it in the past but not familiar enough to say, “Oh yeah, I know about that…”
