Joe Biden dismisses freedom as justification for vaccine refusal
Joe Biden spoke at a CNN town hall, hosted by Anderson Cooper. He was asked if police officers and first responders should stay home or be fired for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine. Biden responded “yes” to their either being required to stay home or being fired. Biden was also dismissive of the refusal to take the vaccine on the grounds of freedom.

In July, Biden announced businesses with more than 100 employees will be required to mandate coronavirus vaccines or administer weekly tests. Employers are also required to pay employees for time off to get vaccinated and recover from side effects.
“The mandates are working,” Biden further claimed, claiming even most airline employees have complied.
Biden went on to say that those who oppose vaccine mandates are attempting to make vaccines “a political issue.”
The president also scoffed at those who oppose vaccine mandates on the basis of “freedom.”
“I have the freedom to kill you with my COVID,” Biden said, mocking what he sees as the attitude of mandate opponents. “No, I mean, come on, freedom.”
As a presidential candidate, Biden opposed a vaccine mandate.
Nearly 70% of U.S. adults have received at least one, while more than 60% of all Americans have received both doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Two dozen Republican attorneys general have threatened to sue the administration over the mandate, calling it “disastrous and counterproductive” in a joint letter on Sept. 16.
“From a policy perspective, this edict is unlikely to win hearts and minds — it will simply drive further skepticism,” the letter addressed to Biden said. “And at least some Americans will simply leave the job market instead of complying.”

1) He doesn’t have the authority to issue a mandate like this. 2) If he wants to go through OSHA, there has to be a comment period. That’s the same thing that got him caught in the CDC / eviction cases – no proper comment period on a new rule. 3) OSHA is suspending its own rules on adverse effects of mandated OSHA actions: Are adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine recordable on the OSHA recordkeeping log? DOL and OSHA, as well as other federal agencies, are working diligently to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations. OSHA does not wish to have any appearance of discouraging workers from receiving COVID-19 vaccination, and also does not wish to disincentivize employers’ vaccination efforts. As a result, OSHA will not enforce 29 CFR 1904’s recording requirements to require any employers to record worker side effects from COVID-19 vaccination at least through May 2022. Don’t people in smaller offices / businesses get COVID too? The vast majority of people work in businesses with less than 100 people. If the intent is to stop the spread through business interactions, a floor of 100 seems off. 5) A Judge in Jacksonville, FL ruled the City of Jacksonville could not mandate being vaccinated as that would have to be bargained under union agreements. Funny how Biden thinks those union contracts don’t mean anything. 6) The 1905 Supreme Court case of Jacobson v. Massachusetts held that a state could issue a mandate, but they had to allow an out, such as a fine. That’s not happening here. 7) For those who think mandated vaccinations are okay, we like to remind people of the Supreme Court case of Belk v Virginia in which the Supreme Court ruled that it was okay to inject a woman with a drug that would make her fertile. I’m glad that Mr. Biden has HAD to order something like this, since millions of cavemen and women have refused to wear the mask or get their shots for the health of our society. And now they are dying like flies in our hospitals, but, they have been warned many times! Well, anyways, that means there will be less GOP votes in the next election.
