‘Can’t bring knife to fistfight,’ prosecutor tells jury in Enfield stabbing case

In his final argument Thursday in the trial of Shyhiem “Trey” Adams in the stabbing death of Enfield High School student Justin Brady, prosecutor John F. Fahey gave the jury a rundown on some of the many complexities of Connecticut’s self-defense law.But his final words on the subject were simple.
“You can’t bring a knife to a fistfight,” the prosecutor told the six-member jury in Hartford Superior Court.

Baton Rouge man tries to rob woman of Xbox; victim shoots him with her own gun, BRPD says

A man who robbed and shot at a woman who was selling him an Xbox fled and was arrested after she managed to wound him with her own gun, Baton Rouge police say.Police issued an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Dane Johnson on Sept. 29, the day after the shooting. He was booked Wednesday evening on counts of attempted murder and armed robbery.
Authorities responded to a report of a shooting at Willow Bend Apartments, 11070 Mead Road, around 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 28, according to the affidavit. Upon arrival, they found shell casings and the victim inside her home.
The victim told police Johnson contacted her earlier that afternoon to buy an Xbox she listed on Facebook Marketplace. He agreed to meet at her apartment when Johnson got off of work later that evening.

It has taken me this long to calm down and stop spluttering and taking the Lord’s name in vain.
What the… WHAT?! She gets a teeny tiny little bit of cred for having the sense to pack heat, but still, overall… F. F. F.

I made some bad decisions as a younger person, some that chill me to the bone even today. (Almost entirely pre-internet.) But, dayum honey, the info is out there, the press has covered this, and the body count is high enough to dissuade even the most naive. Every police officer/paramedic/ER nurse & MD knows that Plenty of Fish, Craigslist, FB Marketplace, et al are responsible for a lot of very bad things. There should be a PSA every commercial break if people haven’t gotten the message yet. Hey, stranger danger still applies when you’re an adult, people.
