Who Spies On Whom?

| August 11, 2021

China has been “shadowing” UK warships, including a carrier group, for a while now. They must think they’re being clever, but isn’t this just SOP for any naval force? We snoop on the Russians and they snoop on us and that goes back to before the Cold War had a name.

As I understand it, they may be doing the same to our own Navy flotillas. Like I said, nothing new.

Well, really, that’s pretty “normal” stuff in the greater scope of “know thy enemy”, because if you don’t spy on The Them, they will still spy on you and you will come up short. And anyway, is there anyone who does not remember Mad Magazine and the Spy vs Spy cartoons?

The real question is: have they been targeting British ships intentionally, or just engaging in “exercises”? It’s pretty much the same thing, but did the Brits get pingbacks?

From the article: In a quick retort just hours later, the Global Times, which espouses some of Beijing’s more hawkish views, sought to dismiss suggestions the Chinese naval assets had been caught unawares during their mission to shadow the British carrier strike group.

“As a necessary measure of defense, it is possible that the PLA used the HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier strike group as an imaginary target for practice,” an unnamed expert told the newspaper.

“It is also possible that the Chinese submarines intentionally revealed themselves after having accomplished their missions, sending a warning to the U.K. carrier group,” the report continued. – article

“Intentionally revealed themselves”??? How coy can you get? Did those Chinese sub sailors actually think no one knew they were there?

But the USNavy does this all the time, always has. No, really, it’s what we do.

Nothing to see here. Please move along.

Liberal media people, who never studied history, are condemned to repeat being befuddled. (Same ol’ stuff, different day– read a book, kid!)

IMHO most liberal media types are about as brainwashed as our Major Moonbat from UC Berzerkely that have no grasp of reality.

Seems like every time someone make’s mention of the Commie-czar-ZEK/Major MoonBat, just make’s me think of this song >

Got somethin’ fer Lars… he might be disappointed it’s satire:

Chinese subs are relatively loud and easy to track; about comparable to 2nd generation Soviet/Russian nuclear boats.

So, yeah…..unless the Brits were asleep, they knew the CHICOM subs were there.

Yeah, unless I learn to speak any variety of languages and there’s never a good direct translation (still waiting for a universal translator STAR TREK!!!) then yeah, Google will have to do… (there’s no word for “only” in Mandarin?)

For Chip(because, you just never know..). How to Use the F-Word (他妈的) Properly in Chinese ===================================== Fans of the TV show Dexter are familiar with Dexter’s little sister Debra Morgan sorry, Debra “Fucking” Morgan. She is a master of using the f-word in English. Now while we don’t suggest you pattern your Chinese language skills after the lovely Debra, but sometimes you just need a word that raises eyebrows … and even if you’re way too prissy to let loose with an f-bomb in your non-native tongue, there’s certain to be instances where the people around you are going to toss one, and you should be prepared for when that happens. “Fuck” (the verb) can be directly translated into Chinese as 操 (cào), but honestly that’s only for the most extreme of circumstances. A slightly more polite term to use instead is 他妈的 (tā mā de), literally “his mother.” Like ‘fuck’ in English, it has multiple uses – it can be used to mean “damn it,” “gosh,” “fuck it,” or as a modifier on almost every phrase you can think of to give it a little oomph. And like fuck in English, it doesn’t always have to have an angry connotation – it can also be innocent, surprised, suspicious, indifferent … you name it. A further refinement of the original tā mā de that came about due to the internet is 特么的 (tē mē de), which sounds like the original but leaves everyone’s mother out of the equation and therefore is less likely to be scrubbed from your social media stream by the Net Nanny. Ok, so armed with this linguistic tidbit, let’s arm you with a few example sentences to get you started (for politeness’ sake, we will used 特么的 in each sentence; if you’re speaking, do use tā mā de, the people around you will be impressed by your potty mouth). 1. When you’re impressed Tube Station Pizza is fucking amazing. 站点披萨真特么的好吃。 Zhàndiǎn pīsà zhēn tè me de hǎo chī. 2. Cheat me/screw me over I’m trusting you with my WeChat account password, don’t fuck me over. 我把微信密码告诉你了,别特么的扯我后腿。… Read more »

I think it’s universal:

Wait, so hunt for Red October was based on real stuff? You mean other hollywierd movies could also be real, or based on real stuff?
Sooo like we really have hackers that practice breaking in to other governments and plant nefarious code in case we want to do something to them later? Little tiny drones that look like bugs? Or we can take over cameras to spy on people? Or have cool camouflage suites that kind of act like the Predator suits? Not like the tank they used in Waco! I mean, I know Enemy of the State was a little over done…but its real right!?

Typhoons don’t (or “didn’t” now) look that cool inside though. The new Borei class SSBN that replaces it will reportedly have a variant (Borei-B, Project 955B) with water-jet propulsion and new noise-reduction technology for some reason. (Who says Hollywood doesn’t inspire?)

Yup. Here’s the History Channel docu on it –

during operation Steel Pike in 1964 off of Seville Spain, the Russian fishing trawlers with the fishing nets and all the electronic equipment you could see on the deck and bridge were doing circles around the Nato ships and we waved at the Russian Sailors and they returned the wave as we passed close to each other. A tin can waited untill the trawler was passing it down wind and decided to blow the tubes and next thing you knew, the black cloud went right into the trawler.

Ancient history (OK 40 years) but AGI’s were an occasional thing when pulling out of Holy Loch. A good phony would have some exciting tale of derring do, but in the real world, it was always a couple of hours of boring shit until we could wave bye bye and dive.
