Major General Outflanked in Twitter War.

| July 27, 2021

Major General Patrick Donahoe

A US Army Major General has stirred up a Twitter war of words after he posted what he called a “Public Service Announcement,” instructing people to block, and then report, those who were at odds with his opinions.

He managed to spool up Twitter users by getting involved in vaccine politics in the US.

MG Donahoe stereotyped all those who disagreed with him as “trolls” and members of the “disinformation tinfoil hat team”. He lashed out at the critics on Twitter accusing them of a disinformation campaign.

UpNorth sends.

Woke US army general humiliates himself by losing Twitter war

Major General Patrick Donahoe posted what he called a “Public Service Announcement,” telling people to “Block and report the trolls and the disinformation tinfoil hat team.”

A Major General, in the US Army has called for people to “block and report” those they disagree with on Twitter. Major General Patrick Donahoe posted what he called a “Public Service Announcement,” telling people to “Block and report the trolls and the disinformation tinfoil hat team.”

Pushback on Twitter was swift and fierce. Human Events’ Jack Posobiec noted that Donahoe “couldn’t even win a Twitter war…” and in fact, he couldn’t.

Glenn Greenwald called Donahoe out for “accusing people who question him on Twitter” as “shills for Putin.” Greenwald posited that Donahoe is more interested in securing tv appearances than actually doing his job in the US Army.

Embarrassing to O-8’s everywhere, I would hope. It certainly embarrasses me that the good General got tarred and feathered in an on-line slap fight.

The Post Millennial

Thanks, UpNorth.

Maybe Dur Generale should listen to whom he’d wish to be his boss (you know, other than the people of the US and our Constitution):

“I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.” ― Hillary Rodham Clinton

That bitter old lady was right! (excuse me, I have to vomit now)

Where have all the Liberals gone?

  2. Veritas Omnia Vincit says:

What was that part in the code again, something about “Conduct Unbecoming”?

That whole dissent with your opinion thing in the civilian world disrupted your ivory tower a little eh General?

Perhaps you should stick to your role in the Army where you can shit on subordinates without repercussion…out here in the private sector we can tell you to fuck right off you pretentious jerkoff and there isn’t fuck all you can do about it…

  3. Stacy0311 says:

Bet he has a Little Big Horn print on his “I Love Me” wall

    • Ret_25X says:

no…he has that Stonewall Jackson print all of these jackwagons have.

Every one of these woke officers has been a closet Confederate in my experience.

      • KoB says:

Naw, don’t think so SarMaj. IF there was a print of “Old Blue Fire” on this POS Woke Bitch’s wall, Stonewall would step out of the print, bitch slap this mofo, then DH Hill his azz. I’d say, IMHO, this tool isn’t qualified to polish Jackson’s boots, much less lead men to victory as Jackson did…underfed, outnumbered, and out gunned. I don’t think this Gnrl could command the detail in charge of guarding Stonewall’s box of lemons.

If you want to compare him to a Confederate, try using Braxton Bragg. Now THAT ONE was a political hack, just like Ben “The Beast” Butler was on the Federal side.

        • Ret_25X says:

I’m dead serious. Every one of the woke seniors I ever met had that Stonewall print on the wall. All of them.

They all seem to see their incipient racism and hatred for others as some stoic heroism and associate with Jackson as some icon of pure and stoic heroic manhood.

Jackson was also a neurotic mess and whatever tactical brilliance he had was offset by his operational mediocrity.

Of course the other print the O6 and above crowd love is the Bastogne print of Gen McAuliffe.

There is a direct association between mental illness and art..not for the artist, but the consumer who buys it.

          • KoB says:

Oh, I concur on all that SarMaj, including the fact that Jackson had his own ways, and yeah, he fornicated Fido a time or two. I think once he realized that Marse Robert gave him his leeway and backed his calls, he got a little more better. Guess my point was, Jackson didn’t put up with much BS from his subordinate commanders.

I know that much has changed over the last 50 years since I was serving, and I tried my best to avoid GOs. In the back yonder days, tho, they seemed to have more concern for the Mission and the Troops than they do now…in some areas. I guess I was lucky in that I served under those types of ossifers more than the other type.

Full disclosure…I have two (2) prints with Jackson in them hanging on the wall in my quarters. One is “The Last Meeting” with Jackson and Lee just before they hit Hooker at C’ville and another of him saying farewell to his wife C’mas of 62. (They were both gifted to me, one down by Reeves, the other is a Troncalli. Both matted and framed and if purchased on the open market today would be rather spendy.) Guess I’m doubly mental, huh? 😛

          • MI Ranger says:

Yes but MG Donahoe is not a closet racist…he is a narcissist! There are several of these guys with various spellings around the Army and it is some times hard to figure out which one they are talking about.
This Jack A$$ is the head of the MCoE. His Bio points out that he Commanded 1st Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 4th Infantry Division and took them to Iraq. Following that he was at NTC (BINGO)!!
When he came to NTC, he blamed the OC’s that worked with him before Iraq for not preparing him to go (takes no responsibility for his role as Commander)! His first day as Scorpion 7 he said he was going to fix that (of course none of the current OCs were there when he came through)! He had a whole bunch of things he was going to implement to fix it…all of which we had already implemented and were doing for several rotations. Too bad he did not pay any attention during his right seat ride! I left the team after he kept asking me to do things others were there to do. A 9er is not an S2, while he is an intel advisor he does not fetch maps, or gather statistical data, or track your clearances (that is what you have an entire team in the building for who they refer to as Tango)!
I am very surprised he made it to O-6 let alone O-8. This guy probably has pictures of himself on his “I love me wall” not others!

I would like to think Major Generals would be smart enough to
stay off Twitter. Hell, I was just a lowly Spec 5 Signal guy and
I know enough to stay off that sewer.

He should visit legit sites like TAH where the shit is real.

  5. Charles says:

CG of the “Maneuver Center of Excellence” (we used to just call it “Fort Benning, GA”). He apparently knew how to become a two star general, without earning two or more key tabs or badges issued under schools now under his authority: (“AIRBORNE” and “RANGER”); or “SPECIAL FORCES.”

Or better, all three shoulder tabs creating the “Tower of Power” on the left sleeve, like some of us here.

    • USMC Steve says:

Oh hell. A base CG. That makes him the senior REMF admin pogue of that installation. Probably put there to keep him from fucking up anything important with his stupidity.

    • rgr769 says:

Well, as a lowly O-3 with the “Tower of Power,” I am happy to disagree with this high powered REMF. I never saw a general officer in my war that was worth a shit. They mostly just flew around in their helicopters pretending they had some control over what was happening on the ground. We would have done better without them. I experienced one BG who chewed my ass because the machine gun positions on the fire base perimeter weren’t horseshoe shaped as depicted in some field manual. He thought the fact that they were on bipods instead of a tripod was irrelevant. A few months later he went nuts on the battalion commander because a dotted line on a map overlay had been changed to a solid line two hours earlier when the new AO went into effect. BG Kendall, he was one crazy mofo, but I g-2’d him and learned how to handle him when he showed up at my company patrol base in boonies.

Can’t imagine what it would be like have a looney GO to deal with who is infected with all this wokesterism in addition to their other lunacies.

      • rgr769 says:

That should read that the dotted line had NOT been changed to a solid line. You TOC fobbits will know what I am talking about here. Although, this is likely now done electronically on computers instead of with a grease pencil on a map overlay.

        • UpNorth says:

We had a MG in. 3d ID, in 68, who went apeshit on a Sergeant because the back gate on Leyton Barracks had been locked at the normal time, 1730. Couldn’t have his driver drive around, it would have taken all of a minute to get to off-base housing.

      • USMC Steve says:

Easy. Frag them. Save lives potentially, and do the Army a favor.

    • MI Ranger says:

Yeah, well this $hitbag GO is an Armor Officer (that is why it is now the Maneuver Center of Excellence not just home of the Infantry). So he never wanted to excel and learn how to be brave and jump out of things or be a real man (or person now) and learn your own foibles. He probably stayed on his Tank to take a crap! I’m sure he is right now trying to replace the Ranger Memorial with a skid mark or some other sign of a tanker. There are no doubt plenty of mirrors around his office!!!

My apologies to all the rest of the Armor community. This Piece of $hit GO does not represent all the great things you do, just accentuates all your eccentricities.

  6. Ret_25X says:

There is an unwritten but well known rule of social media as a senior leader.

You may read, but don’t post. Anything you post on social media will make you look like an idiot, so stay off social media.

There is a reason that senior leaders have a PAO…precisely so they don’t step in shit and then stick their foot in their mouth.

While good for a laugh, this points out that the MG is not mature enough for his rank or responsibilities.

Because everyone knows telling people what to do via Twitter in a sanctimonious manner never results in anything the original user did not intend.

Lib: I got an idea! I’m going to tax the shit out of rich people!
Rich People: Watch me put my money in places (legal by the terms of your convoluted tax code you love so much) you can’t touch.
    Lib: Awwww.

Lib: Only rich people have yachts; let’s tax the shit out of yacht purchases.
Rich People: I guess I will stick with my current yacht instead of that new one I was eying.
Middle class yacht maker employee: Awwww.

Then there’s also the phenomenon of trying to get people to do what you want on the internet. Lest we forget Boaty McBoatface.

  12. The Other Whitey says:

Although the popular version is that all the nazis were in the Waffen-SS while the “good” Wehrmacht was just following orders, that was never the case. Although *some* regular army guys didn’t like Hitler but also didn’t see a way out, there were plenty of career Heer officers were full-on goosesteppers, even though they never wore a deathshead*.

Donohoe just let everyone know which one he would be. I find it disturbing how many oathbreakers have risen so high. Is this something new, or has it always been this way and we’re only just starting to notice.

    * Quite a few SS stormtroopers were either coerced or conscripted, sometimes at gunpoint, and wanted nothing whatsoever to do with Hitler’s crowd, even as they were surrounded by bloodthirsty fanatics. But that’s another story.

    • rgr769 says:

The non-German recruits to the foreign SS units were frequently forced into service. This was especially true in the Nordic and Balkan countries the Nazis conquered.

      • Hack Stone says:

Saw a few episodes on The Military History Channel about French troops in the SS during the Fall Of Berlin. They fought to the last man, as the cast their lot on the wrong pony, and they could never go home.

Dayum. Ill have to check that out.

I don’t go carrying torches or water for Nazi scum, but thats a respectable act in a Warrior-To-Warrior recognition kinda way.
Still, shouldn’ta put on the Hugo Bosses. Them evil fcukers.

      • The Other Whitey says:

Plenty of Germans in that category as well, and not just when they got desperate at the end, either.

As an example, Fr. Gereon Goldmann wrote an account of his own experience titled “In the Shadow of His Wings.” Goldmann was training to be a Catholic priest in 1938 when his seminary was closed down by the Nazi Party, and he and his fellow seminarians were drafted into the Heer, where they were trained as RTOs. Contrary to the “apolitical Heer, fanatical SS” narrative, he and the other ex-seminary students were constantly harassed and bullied over their adherence to their Catholic faith by NCOs and junior officers who were hardcore nazis. They volunteered for the Waffen-SS when they were told that religious persecution was prohibited there, which was a lie, but they didn’t know that at the time. Instead, the harassment became more subtle, mostly in the form of trying to manipulate them into breaking their vows.

    • timactual says:

The “death’s head” was also the insignia of the Panzerwaffe. This caused a bit of confusion on the Eastern front, as the Russians couldn’t tell the difference between the Panzer troops and the SS, so they shot them all. Hard to blame them.

Sage words. Unfortunately, north of you – there’s no real Generals left either. Slightly different tempo but the song is virtually the same. Most of Canada’s tenant command is equally inept and insipid but one of our so-called Generals greatly distinguished himself with a profound medical problem with most of his blood rushing to the wrong head….for years, turns out he’s got not one but two kids out of wed-lock and even when our Defense minister became aware of it, turned a blind-eye to it.

  19. Mustang Major says:

Major General Patrick Donahoe may have cracked from the pressure he felt from the brass above him pressing for troop vaccines. With his purposely thought-out Twitter post, he signaled support of the vaccine. After all, Donahoe knows the upper brass promotes him (think woke Gen. Miley), not the Twitter mob.

The national press coverage is a home run for him as his tweet helps him with the brass. Other generals collectively slapped their foreheads and said, “Why didn’t I think of this?”

  20. Jay says:
