Well, it finally happened. Last night Hack Stone was thrown in Facebook Jail for a 24 hour sentence after posting a comment on a thread on the Jeremy Dewitte/Metro State Services page. Hack put that time behind bars to good use, earning his Honorary General Equivalency Diploma with a Major in Keeping It Real. Hack plans on taking a skip year before pursuing his college dreams of becoming an Architect/Marine Biologist.
Do the inmates in Facebook jail do jailhouse type stuff to you, Hack? Or, are you the biggest, baddest MOFO in the Facebook cellblock?

Could you clarify a bit on the Canadian Mac & Cheese item? Is that total consumption, or per capita? And when those numbers on Mac & Cheese consumption were being crunched, did they factor in the spike in consumption around US Military Bases a week before payday when all of the married E-2’s who pissed away their paycheck at the local “gentlemen’s club” stock up on this staple to feed their dependents?
It’s figured by sales of millions more boxes in Canada than in any other country, Hack. Canadians LOVE that stuff! I know it’s a staple in many U.S. military homes too, for the reasons you’ve cited … but our neighbors to the north beat us all hollow on consumption of pasta and cheddar.
Apparently Mac & Cheese are liked in Canada like Spam is in Hawaii! Come to think of it, the stuff is popular in other Pacific Islands as well.
And Puerto Rico, too. Spam is prevalent in islands with US military presence where pork was a traditional part of the diet.
Another trivia point: Kraft mac&cheese was marketed in Canada in the late 1980s/early 1990s as “Kraft Dinner” (and likely still is today; it was as late as 2012 or 2015). It was also called out by name in the lyrics to the 1989 Barenaked Ladies song “If I Had a Million Dollars”.

Decals are done on my cousin’s TBM. Also working on my baby daughter’s B-29.
The TBM looks good, TOW. Beautiful job on that B-29 interior.
The B-29 kit has some pretty good interior detail, including the crew’s bunks in the tail. I cut open the door in the gunners’s aft bulkhead so that the bunks can be seen through the right gunner’s blister window.
The exterior is another story. I’m having to etch all the panel lines (fuck my life), and the wings fit together like shit. I’m now two weeks deep into trying to blend the leading edges together. Admittedly not working on it nonstop, but still. Baby daughter seems excited, though. She spends a lot of time hanging around the desk while I’m working on it (and trying to keep the f-bombs to myself), smiling nonstop, and her sisters and brother are trying to get her to say “airplane.” So far she’s managed “aaa-waa.”

Anyone else want to tell him how wrong he is? ASVAB is not pass/fail. It is used to determine if applicants, who want to enlist in the military, meet minimum knowledge standards and which jobs the do or do not qualify for. There is a minimum AFQT score required, which is different for each service, to enlist. There are several different versions of the test. There are 10 sections and approximately 150 questions. It is a timed test, and is administered via computer or paper. The test is also administered to High School students, 10-12 grade, to be used by school guidance counselors to help students identify possible civilian and military career fields. Most of the people who read or comment on this blog have actually taken the ASVAB, and would therefore know it is not pass/fail. A recruiter may have told someone they did not “pass” the ASVAB when in actuality they just did not get the score they needed for the career field they wanted. As a side note, I recently saw Jimi Hendrix discharge papers that had his AFQT score. It was 8 on a scale of 1-99. Unlike you, commissar, I actually know what I’m talking about as I administer this test.

The use of the suffix “ZEK” here is apropos.
The word “zek” was the Russian language term for prisoners in the USSR’s Gulag system. And the USSR was famous for “eating its own” (e.g., turning on party members who fell out of favor) and sending them to the Gulag.
My guess is that Commissar wouldn’t last a year under that type of system of government – which he seems to admire and advocate – before ending up in some nouveau Gulag.
