I honestly thought this was a spoof article at first, maybe even from the Onion. Just goes to show you that the line between truth and absurdity is becoming blurred.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) plans to protest outside of Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s home in Virginia and outside the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. on Thursday. The protests continue their ongoing opposition to Cobra Gold, an annual joint military survival training exercise between the U.S. and Thailand, in which U.S. Marines and their Thai counterparts have eaten insects and other live animals, and drank blood from decapitated snakes.

I wonder if Austin will cave. After all, Marines can eat slivers of carrots or crayons and make pretend they are snakes.

In last years letter that Shalin Gala, the PETA Vice President for International Laboratory Methods, wrote to the Marine Corps Commandant, General David Berger, Gala urged General Berger and the Marines to
halt the practice of doing the following during Jungle Survival Training Day of COBRA GOLD:
(1) Killing chickens with bare hands.
(2) Skinning and eating live geckos.
(3) Consuming live scorpions and tarantulas.
(4) Decapitating cobras and drinking their blood.
Gala then suggested the Marines turn to other training options, to include interactive video games and virtual reality that Survival Experts use to train Air Force Pilots.
He also said “There are vegan options with the jungle being rich in fruit and other lush, edible vegetation.”

(1) 29 July 2018: Was initially charged with a MISDEMEANOR for Reckless Driving in Brunswick County, VA for going 77 MPH in a 55 MPH Zone. Charge was later changed for going 64 MPH in a 55 MPH Zone as an Infraction. Found Guilty.
(2) 2 May 2016: Was initially charged with going 41 MPH in a 25 MPH Zone in Norfolk, VA. Charge was later changed for going 34 MPH in a 25 MPH Zone. Found Guilty.
(3) 8 June 2010: Was charged with driving with Expired Tags in Virginia Beach, VA. Charges were dropped because he went and got his car tags updated (after he was caught).

Austin was an Army RANGER.
If memory serves me, during the “City Phase” of RANGER School at Benning, potential RANGERS were given live chickens and rabbits to kill and consume.
The Florida Phase consisted of live snakes and chickens.
PETA needs to contact the DISCOVERY Channel on their show “Naked and Afraid” if they have a “problem” with folks exterminating and consuming animal flesh for survival purposes.

I attended Cold Weather Medicine school at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center in Bridgeport, CA. Part of the training was to kill a rabbit. The Marine instructor then challenged the students to suck out the eyes and eat them. Not a peep from peta. Crazy fucking Corpsmen!

Well, hell! Take a couple of bags of snakes out there and distribute them among the protesters, offer up some ethical baptisms, let them do yoga among the serpents and, who knows, maybe they’ll all start speaking in tongues, chanting mantras and beating feet to some other sacred opportunity.

It’s been my experience that very, very few tree-huggers have ever spent so much as a single night outdoors. This just illustrates that point.
What irritates me about these people is that they refuse to recognize that humans are part of the ecosystem, not outside observers thereof. I believe we were created by God to occupy the top slot in the food chain as part of His immensely complex and beautiful creation. If you don’t believe in some kind of divine creation, then would it not at least make logical sense that we evolved as part of this immensely complex natural environment. Either way, we are by nature omnivorous predators. That means we naturally kill and eat other creatures for sustenance. We also our diet also includes plant matter, but it is unnatural for us not to eat meat.
Like so many leftist positions, tree hugging purposefully ignores objective reality. It really is a mental disease.
