Joe Biden to host George Floyd Family on George’s death anniversary

| May 22, 2021

Joe Biden and the White House plan to host George Floyd’s family to mark the first anniversary of his death. They planned to have this coincide with passage of a police reform bill. This bill is named after George Floyd. However, given how things work in Congress, the bill is still going through the review, debate, and negotiation process.

From Newsmax:

Biden’s plans to host Floyd’s family come, however, as talks focused on the police reform bill named after Floyd — the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act — have stalled on Capitol Hill. Biden had previously set the anniversary of Floyd’s death as the deadline for the bill’s passage, and left much of the negotiations up to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, but there’s been little movement on the legislation in recent weeks.

Psaki said Friday that the White House is “in close touch” with the negotiators and “they still feel there’s progress being made,” but they’ve acknowledged it’s “unlikely” they’ll pass a bill by Biden’s deadline.

The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act would ban chokeholds by federal officers and end qualified immunity for law enforcement against civil lawsuits, as well as create national standards for policing in a bid to bolster accountability. It passed the House in March, but faces a much tougher road in the evenly divided Senate, where Republicans have expressed opposition to efforts to repeal qualified immunity.

The Other Whitey

The fact that they keep acting like this fentanyl-chugging repeat-offending violent asshole was some kind of martyred saint is indicative of a great deal that is wrong with our society today.

KoB

Can’t be surprised by any of it TOW. It’s the Demonrat way. Why not make a saintly hero (sic) out of a criminal junkie? Look at some of the POSes they have made sure were elected prezzy. Racicists, wife cheaters, raping murderers the list goes on. They’ve even lionized them in the Senate and returned grifting, lying, POS politicians time and time again, for DECADES, to elected office. They got burned bad in 1860 when the demonrat party was split by 4 candidates. Took them decades to come back to power after that. Jimmuh upset their little march to their mob rule by taking the primaries in 1976 and blocking Teddy from his appointed turn. Thus, the party turned on him, purposely, to ruin his chances for re-election. Those dirty tricks were just practice for when they went after Trump.

Be renaming the South Lawn at the WH after Floyd soon. Can’t have anything connected to South, after all, that’s where all the people that owned slaves were. Remember, there were no slaves of any sort in Northern or North Western States. And no slave ships built there either. No Jim Crow Laws. And after the WBTS, all of the Northern States welcomed the newly freed slaves to their states and gave them unlimited opportunity to become part of their Society. /s/

They want to divide the citizens of this Country again. It will not be pretty. And there are numerous good decent black folks that will stand shoulder to shoulder with their white, brown, Asian, and Native American Compatriots to get rid of the parasites and grifters.

Graybeard

The Wuhan virus’ usefulness must be over.

Even our local fish-wrap has the drug-addicted criminal front page top-of-fold this weekend.

Doing their best to divide us.

Sapper3307

DR Fentanyl Floyd should have a base named after him.

Poetrooper

There’s probably a naval vessel coming sooner than we think…

Fyrfighter

Will it be a hospital ship, since that’s where all the drugs are?

Devtun

Wonder what’s more cringe? JEF inviting Bergdahl’s parents or Plugs doing this?

Wireman611

I feel like I’m becoming so inured to the current antics that I’m not able to perform the action of cringing anymore. I find it hard to even get angry about this stuff, maybe pity for those younger than me.

E4 Mafia '83-'87

Are they there to pick-up “Scumbag Family of the Year Award”? Hey, The Floyds are the poster children of the Democratic Party. They raise a career criminal that preys on other black people & minority owned businesses. Mom & Pops Floyd must be proud…beaming with joy that their POS son got them some notoriety. Any news if Lars was their seeking and autograph?

Every Dem should be ashamed out endorsing anything with POS’s name. Are we naming pedo reform legislation after Jared Fogle? Stalking and murder bills after Ted Bundy? The Dem politicians proving they hate everyone.

rgr769

Don’t forget the $27 mil his demise got them.

He’s a “provider” in the Ghetto Lottery.

Poetrooper

Much worse though is that he’s now a role model for millions of ghetto “yutes” on how a life of crime and drug addiction is not only respectable but can make you a national hero upon your death and your family wealthy beyond belief.

It never ceases to amaze me that the Democrat politicians who exploit situations like this don’t stop to consider the long-term impact such canonization of criminals has on young blacks and thus, entire black communities that serve as their prey.

Bu then again, they probably do…

Mason

That was only from the city. When last I checked they also raised something like $13m on the Internet and another $3m for his four year old daughter.

Fyrfighter

Well, there is no “pops” Floyd, that was his momma’s name. Daddy (Perry) left when he was two.

Hack Stone

So, Poppa was a rolling stone?

So, six funerals and a golden coffin weren’t enough for St. Floyd the Fentanyl Abuser..

Penguinman000

Yep, let’s ban choke holds completely. Blunt trauma is a much safer method to subdue someone.

How about actually teaching real defensive tactics instead of the drivel currently taught in most academies and agencies. If you have officers that actually know how to fight they are less likely to resort to other, potentially more lethal, methods.

But that would actually require thought and investment.

UpNorth

And it would require police admins that aren’t afraid to see an officer engage in hand-to-hand combat with a suspect. With everyone capturing what they want to capture with their camera phones and being able to edit before releasing the video, admins are afraid to have their officers get out of their cars, much less engage in an arrest with an unwilling suspect.

Mason

I recently heard from a guy still on the job that his department has prohibited the use of force on any misdemeanor arrest. Person fights, tenses, or runs, they just walk away. That’s going to be good for public safety, right?

Cops used to have nightstands for some reason… perhaps to not have to resort to shooting folk so quick?

Nightsticks

Dang auto correct

Hack Stone

A Mag light can make a fine field expedient night stick. That’s why Police Oversight Commissions have banned them.

UpNorth

I used a Mag light on several occasions, a very effective “nightstick”. Still have mine, 24 years after retirement.

Hack Stone

A Mag Light is very effective in helping a suspect see the light.

Chokeholds vs Blunt trauma is a false choice if if ever heard one. Lots of tools in the toolbox.

The problem these days is that with all the powerful pain killers out there many subjects are not pain compliant. Pain compliance is normally the most effective and safest way to make an arrest of a resistive subject. Laying on someones neck for ten minutes is poor technique, especially with three other officers standing around doing nothing.

Penguinman000

Chauvin was poorly trained and a douche. More importantly he demonstrated a complete lack of awareness and concern for for the human being he took custody of.

When it comes to batons you aren’t allowed to strike joints or hands. This negates the effectiveness of a baton. With those restrictions it’s silly to even issue it.

A properly applied choke can subdue a subject quickly and safely. Narcotics, psychosis don’t matter.

DT is a joke. There is no requalification after the academy (at least in VA). But you shoot every year (40ish whole rounds). What is an officer more likely to do? Go hands on or shoot? And I won’t get into basics like failing to teach how to stand up in base or throw a proper knee.

How many times have you seen officers get into a tug of war when trying to handcuff a resisting subject? A simple upper body lock accompanied by a sweep/reap of the leg would solve the majority of these cases. A suspect on the ground can’t run. A very simple technique that has a high chance of success.

Instead you consistently have officers pulling on hands/wrists which puts them in a position of no leverage. And leaves the suspects other hand free.

And as far as it being a false choice, if you have to go hands on, what are your options? Deescalation has failed. Can’t employ a choke. The baton has all the effective strike zones eliminated. OC isn’t reliable. Tasers fail. This proposed policy is incentivizing blunt force.

Do you suggest wrist locks? Those only work if the subject chooses to comply or your willing to break the wrist. Pressure points? Useless against a resisting suspect. They move an inch and the pain goes away.

The fear in law enforcement about choke holds has its source in ignorance. The solution is proper training. Not removing safe and effective tools from the tool box.

5JC

Not really. Most of those killed with a chokehold have additional circumstances, mostly involving large amounts of dangerous drugs.

Even with a perfectly trained officer the likelihood of arresting a physically resistive subject who is also on large amounts of illegal drugs is about 100%. The subjects tend also to be unhealthy. This isn’t a Judo competition between two physically fit sober people where the risks are practically non-existent. Throw in poor training and odds of bad things happening start to climb rapidly.

Penguinman000

I agree, arresting someone isn’t a judo comp, BJJ match or a cage fight.

A properly applied choke is an effective tool but not a panacea. Removing it completely as an option is a bad idea.

My middle ground would be allowing it if the officer has the proper certification. That should include monthly sustainment training (not yearly).

Slow Joe

@ Penguinman000,

Blablabla, blablabla, some politically correct bullshit, blablabla, Officer Chauvin bad, blablabla.

Grow a pair and point to where the failure was, at the 300 lbs drug addict resisting arrest.

Don’t want to die in a encounter with police? Stop breaking the fuckin laws!!!

xyzzy

SeditionJoe, please fuck off. 🙄

Just…fuck off.

Penguinman000

I’ll ignore the personal jabs and answer in good faith.

First, the world is a better place without Floyd in it.

Second, if you wear a badge you’re supposed to be one of the good guys. Act like it.

Third, perhaps consider transport to jail or the ER once you gain custody. Not wait around while a crowd forms.

Forth, don’t be the strategic lance corporal. If you’re wearing a badge you represent every agency in the US. Your actions can impact other officers anywhere in the country.

Fifth, don’t feed the beast. Contempt of cop isn’t a crime.

Mason

Cops have not done chokes except for in deadly force situations, in which case it’s no holds barred.

The LVNR was used for years, is explicitly not a choke, and is highly effective. Your hopped up suspect can’t power through it.

Unfortunately, all these police ‘reform’ laws and policy changes are removing LVNR.

5JC

It can be dangerous when done improperly. the veins in the neck can be bisected and cause a stroke, possibly well after the event.

Penguinman000

Incorrect data.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32271638/
http://www.thescienceofstriking.com/research-review/research-review-the-safety-of-sportive-chokes-a-cross-sectional-survey-based-study/

This belief that the jugular or carotid are easily bisected by a choke are not reflective of the data. It’s an old school belief that has wound its way into lore.

And attributing a medical event “well after” to a choke is lazy science at best.

I say all of this meaning no disrespect or in an attempt to be antagonistic. I genuinely disagree with you, have a significant amount of relevant experience (likely not as much LEO experience as you but probably more combat sports experience) and have evidence to support my position.

5JC

I guess I would not have brought it up if I hadn’t seen it happen. The subject began having strokes 2 weeks after the event due to bisection on one side. Drove the docs crazy till they figured out what was going on in an otherwise healthy 28 year old.

I don’t know how common it is. Just know it happens.

Penguinman000

The LVNR is a blood choke vice an air choke. You are restricting vascular flow to/from the brain.

And yes, properly applied it’s tremendously effective.

Hack Stone

Will they be inviting the women who he committed the home invasion/armed assault to the ceremony? She can give a first hand account of how much a gentleman he was as he pointed a loaded gun to her stomach when she was pregnant.

Meanwhile, if Joe Biden wants to see some real victims of random violence against African Americans, why not go a few miles from The White Hours to Barry Farms in Soufeast DC?

Yeah. It’s like 1861 all over again.

In other news, the sky is indeed blue. Point of this post? Got me, same as the point of this news item.

Maybe they can give the Secret Service a few tips on what to look for in counterfeit bills?

Or maybe vice-versa?

RetiredDevilDoc8404

George Floyd, 1 year crime free clean and sober. Thankfully he’s also not depleting the oxygen any longer, unfortunately any benefit from his removal has been negated by the blowhards pissing and moaning about his removal from the gene pool. Another drug addicted criminal the idiots have turned into some kind of martyr maybe in their bizarro world, but not in this one…

David

well, it’s not like the Biden’s are unfamiliar with drug-addict family members. They look at them daily in their mirrors.

5JC

Probably part of normalizing the behavior. Weed is legal now, clinics provide space and Narcan for opiate abusers to happily overdose. Crack legalization is next.

Wilted Willy

That is why I keep my 9mm scary black rifle loaded with a 20 round clip with a nice red laser that I have spent many rounds making sure it is dead on accurate. I also keep my 9mm pistol in my truck with a full clip and one in the pipe at all times. I have a nice place in the door pocket in which it is very easy to grab if someone was to come up to my door? They never see it coming until it is too late!!! I am so sick and tired of the assholes making heroes out of these criminal drug addicts and leeches of the system. When is the last time this asshole even had a job??? When did he ever pay into the system he so joyfully made withdrawls from I’m guessing for years?? They never seem to talk about these kind of things!!! I will be ready for whatever kind of race war they want to have? I think they will quickly learn that most of us in the south will be ready and waiting. All we need to do is give them more ammo they will just shoot each other anyway???
A big hello to all my friends
Hello to Lars as well!!

I hate to say it, but I’m betting that it’s just a matter of time until Biden’s handlers tell him it’s time to make the US Navy’s next Vessel “The USS George Floyd”.
