Democrat Chicago Mayor’s new openly racist policy

| May 20, 2021

Her Honor Lori Light Foot, Mayor of Chicago (D), is approaching her two year anniversary of ascending to the mayoralty. She’s got a lot to be proud of, murders were up 50% in 2020, shootings were up about 52%, and shooting victims were up 55%. This year is shaping up to increase those numbers as well. About 78% of the victims in these cases were black. Naturally, the Mayor’s priority is thus being put on the “overwhelming whiteness and maleness” of Chicago-area media.

The Mayor is only granting one-on-one interviews to reporters of color on her anniversary in office. Yup, the Mayor of one of the largest (and most violent cities) in the country is openly saying if you’re white, she doesn’t want to talk to you. Clearly, she is the epitome of “equity and inclusion” as ABC7 Chicago characterized her first two years in office.

From ABC7;

On the eve of her second anniversary as Chicago mayor, Mayor Lori Lightfoot seized the opportunity to raise the issue of diversity by only giving interviews to reporters of color.

Lightfoot has made equity and inclusion a major focus of her first two years in office. And in deciding to take aim at the media, she said she has been struck by the “overwhelming whiteness and maleness” of Chicago media outlets from the board room to the press room.

n a two-page letter to members of the media, she wrote: “It is impossible for this glaring lack of diversity not to be reflected in the daily coverage of government, politics and city life every single day.”

“She makes a really great case about diversity and the lack of diversity, but she doesn’t make the case about what’s wrong with the way she’s being covered,” ABC7 Political Analyst Laura Washington said. “What she says implies that she’s being covered unfairly, there’s implicitly or explicitly bias, but she never makes the case for how that plays out in the media.”

Northwestern University Journalism Professor Ava Greenwell has written a book about the diversity issues in newsrooms, which go back decades. She supports the mayor’s desire to draw attention to the issue.

“When we’re looking at the Black Lives Matter movement and inequity and all these other places, the news media has no choice but also to look at itself in this situation and see if it doing the best job it can to actually fostering equity across the board,” Greenwell said.

But former ABC7 Political Reporter Charles Thomas, who covered City Hall for nearly 10 years, sees the mayor’s move as an attempt to distract from other more important issues.

“Is the crisis diversity, or is the crisis crime?” Thomas said. “I would suggest to you that a bigger crisis is crime. A bigger crisis is city finances. A big crisis is public education in a city where the schools and public schools have been closed for a year and a semester.”

The mayor also issued a challenge to newsrooms to hire more reporters of color to cover City Hall.

The President of the Chicago Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists sees the letter as no big deal, because diversity in newsrooms is something they’ve been fighting for years.

“Yes, it’s a great public relations move at her two year mark,” NABJ Chicago President Maudlyne Ihejirika said. “But, it will not, it will not mean Mayor Lightfoot does not have to answer for her deficiencies, her weaknesses as well as her accomplishments over these past two years.”

In a statement, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists said while it is important to address newsroom inequalities, “NAHJ does not condone restricting press access based on a journalist’s race/ethnicity. Any action that threatens the cornerstone of our democracy and First Amendment rights is unacceptable.”

There are also some who see this as an attempt by the mayor to curry favor with the Black and Brown communities, where her support may be soft.

Racism is indeed alive and well in the United States. As it has been for well over 150 years, it’s being brought to you by members of the Democratic Party. Dr. King’s vision has died in Chicago. The mayor is literally only judging a person by the color of their skin.

It’s always okay when Democrats do something… /sarc

Man, that is one fugly woman. If it is a woman.

But her head mop is the result of hundreds of dollars of work by her hairstylist, cuz she says she has to look good for the cameras.

I love how the refrain is more “diversity” is needed in Shotcago, a city where practically every position of power is held by Blacks.

Best she and her stylist could do…

The Dead Man

It’s always projection and it’s always worse than they accuse others of.

Hell though, we’ve had an object lesson on that for years now.

The Other Whitey

Remember when calling someone “colored” was racist? And what does it mean, anyway? It means “nonwhite.” Such an exclusionary term can only be used either to promote white supremacy, or to promote discrimination against whites. Either way, it’s appallingly fucking racist.

No wonder the left insists on saying it so goddamn much.

Isn’t pink a color?

Believe I heard she is also openly lesbian, so re: the question above, her sexual equipment may be female, but that’s no lady.

“…shootings were up about 52%, and shooting victims were up 55%.”

Looks like the gang-bangers’ marksmanship is improving. Not holding your piece sideways will do that…😜😜😜

The liberals aren’t even attempting to be discreet anymore. I’ve never heard a more Orwellian phrase than her saying she is discriminating based off of race to be inclusive.

When you’ve got the likes of Dave Chappel, Bill Maher, Joe Rogan and Chris Rock saying the cancel culture and ridiculous left wing act is no longer sane, that’s saying something.

There are lot of men in the greater Chicago area who breathed a sigh of relief when it was revealed that she would be playing for the other team.

Hack Stone

So, do she consider Asian reporters white or people of color?

KoB

Too bad we couldn’t get someone to Organize the Community and maybe build a nice library there. You know…for the children.

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO she has every bit the look of someone who sold their soul to be in power over others.

There are two ways to look at this. On the one hand, we can discuss how the media, like politics, are the main bastions of both racism and sexism. These two institutions constantly decry these issues are endemic in our society because it is a reflection of their reality. When is the last time you heard of a case of blatant racism or sexism in the corporate world, yet example after example comes out of these institutions.

On the other hand, watch the local news in Chicago, any station, any time of the day or day of the week. There is no broadcast on which the majority of the talking heads or “on the street” reporters are not Persons of Color. If this forced diversity is not represented by the print media covering city hall or in newspapers’ newsrooms across the country, perhaps that is a reflection of the qualifications necessary to do those jobs.

To be a talking head, you need only to be able to read at a 6th grade level, respond to the producers’ voice in your ear and strike the appropriate pose while parroting the party line. I know and have known a couple producers and without exception they all say the talking heads are dumb as a box of rocks with the morality and character of a snake.

In the case of Lightfoot, this is nothing more than a thinly veiled assertion that she is being covered unfairly because of racism and sexism. Because the alternative, that she has done a crap job, is one her cognitive dissonance will simply not allow. The irony of her wanting to whitewash her tenure is rich.

Guess Lori is still illiterate and duplicitous –

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Yeah, I know; Lori has no content and absolutely no character…

While Mayor Lightfoot is taking affirmative action to tear down the inherent White Supremacy of the Media, the carnage continues unabated in The Windy City.
